A long time before the internet i had shivers up my spine with Gary Moore ripping up that les paul..One of the best guitarists on the planet in my view.
An awesome guitarist of many styles, blues, hard rock etc....was hoping one day soon he would make it over here to the states. Too bad for all of us fans. R.I.P. Gary. Thanks for the post bluesrock1000
@tullphantom I said that meaning that I never got a chance to see him myself......was hoping to soon, too bad for me and everyone else. I'm sure he has definitely been to the USA--Thin Lizzy etc.
Cheers......We are both fans anyhow,,,all the best to you,,,,and I raise a glass right now, for Gary, he gave me great pleasure with his soulful playing............
One of my favourite guitar solos! Such passion, would have loved to have been there to see this concert. Shepherds Bush is a special venue. Can you get Blues for Greeny on DVD??
@mjohnsen7 I was lucky enough to hear Mr. Green play this live and of course I agree with you about being only one Peter Green. Gary Moore might actually feel the same way, even as talented as he is. As for me, I am thankful for both men and their dedication to the subtle soul-wrenching parts of The Blues we love. But...smiles...if I really had a choice...Peter and Danny. Gary has lots of good songs - this is Peter's.
Guys, the thing is we all learn from those who go before us and in turn bring something of ourselves to that experience Gary has done this as did Peter before him, and Big Bill Bronzey before them and I guess he in turn learned at the knee of, well yes you guessed it.....
I actually don't know. I thought you might be referring to the Robert Johnson, the man behind the myth, but after some light internet sleuthing i didn't find anything suggesting that the two had a connection. I'm fascinated with the history of blues music so I was hoping you could elaborate on the "...".
I respect that Gary Moore went out of his way to pay respect to his idol. But zedhex is right, listen to the Peter Green versions of these songs, your head will explode. The touch and feel, and pain Green emoted is unrivaled.
Thanks for posting. Was this from a television show or video. I would like to get ahold of the entire show. Blues for Greeny is the Gary Moore album I never grow tired of.
Guitar God. Sex God.

There is only one Peter Green. But this comes as close as as anything I've ever heard to capturing his passion and his brilliance.

If anyone else after Peter Green had to play this guitar, they couldn't better Gary Moore.

Gary would be the first to admit that it was Peter Green at the top of the tree - hopefully more people will search him out after listening to this.
