  • I remember the lead singer appearing pissed on the James Whale Radio Show, drinking Black Tower Wine. Must've been around 1991-1992.

  • fuck me I feel old now, Listening to Stuffies and PWEI in school in 6th form, im 39 now :P

  • @TheSkeppers yeah I'm 39 too and turn 40 in May 2012 how the hell did that happen?

  • wow what memories....one of my favourite songs ever

  • Magic song from a great time. Fuck a duck getting older what a fucking bummer.

  • great tune, where did they go???

  • what trash........

  • love it

  • Bob the bass thing is a fucking legend.... Wonderstuff, Neds Bin, Sandkings at Sheffield Uni was one of the best gigs i ever was fortunate enough to attend.....

  • This is just a bit too good, it almost feels naughty ;)

  • This is just a bit too good, it almost feels naughty ;)

  • absolutely fantastic song ... great days

  • i've been a long term disappointment to myself

but it hits like a hammer when I'm that to someone else

  • Recently started listening to this group, really like them, they're at Cambridge this year, look forward to seeing them. Thanks for the vid.

  • i'm working at a studio where they rehearsed today and will again tomorrow :) i've met them all :)

  • @cowbags64

alas not Rob the Bass thing... RIP Rob you are sadly missed

  • @Tillytotuk

    Youtube -

They Sold Their Souls For Rock And Roll

  • I heard them for the first time on the radio the other day (:

  • The Wonderstuff are the best non-mainstream band in the world. They are an example for all bands. God bless 'em all.

  • Indio156, I was referring to bassthing26's comment below in defence of Miles.

  • Awesome Version!! Rest in Peace Gilksy!

  • I could not agree more with Bassthing...Miles is legendary as is this song. Top geezer. Roll on Leeds in April. Hup hup hup hup!

  • nomis74, you said the Bass Thing liked Miles? They didn't like each other, which is why they parted ways.

  • yep one of my favourite tunes, circlesquare

  • I love this song, one of my all time favorites

  • Saw them in Glasgow back in May on the '8 legged...' anniversary tour... havnt lost their magic at all, the new rhythm section are worthy replacements and Erika's a great violinist too. I got into the stuffies (and the whole stourbridge scene) around the release of 'Hup!' when I was a teenager and when I hear the Stuffies or Neds it always makes me do the whole reminicing thing, great music from a great era of my life... RIP Rob & Gilksy :-D

  • awesome lyrics

  • once again i cannot put in words the feeling i have when i hear this song..(absolutely no worries in them days).i have far more than my fare share now....

  • @jackaldot70

Exactly the same for me, i was 14/15. For some reason this song still means so much to me. My musical tastes have changed but will never forget how this band made me feel growing up.

  • @jackaldot70 Two thumbs up mate, I couldn't put it better myself

  • The Stuffies were huge in Ireland too. They were always played on pop video TV shows and even played a stadium gig in 1990/1991? at the Feile festival in Tipperary. Anyway this is probably my favourite song of their whole career.

  • erm may seem obvious but if you dont like miles hunt dont watch wonder stuff clips! and i can tell ya he aint a twat which is why my son is named after him ta

  • Miles is far from a twat. he replies to emails and is in general a fucking top man.

  • Would love this whole concert. Anyone got it on dvd willing to sell a copy?

  • Only 2 tracks were played on this program. I presume there was a full concert but just this track and ruby horse were shown on tv.

  • Its nice to the" Bass Thing" alive in this vid, Bob rocked

  • This sounded great at glastonbury on saturday night.

  • they were great live.

  • I knew Bob and went on the Hup tour with them (every gig). Bob came to my house in Studley Warks between tour dates and last ones in Brum before he left before that. The guy I lived with Paul told him to fuck off who was cheating on me anyway, I will never forgive myself for not going to Bob who moved to US (where I live now) when he needed me. Not sayin would have stayed with me but knew how to comfort him and chlll him out , no drugs just good honest conversation and stuff.

  • I too am from Studley and played with a band called The Libertines. We toured extensively with The Wonder Stuff from 1987up until the 'HUP' tour. Do we know each other?

    Nick Raybould

  • Anyone got this whole show on dvdr? I will do a trade as i have lots of rare 80s compilations and shows on dvdr.

  • this is as good as it gets

  • According to the book 'The 8 legged atomic dustbin will eat itself' Rob Jones died of "a heart attack. He had a previously unknown heart condition that was exacerbated by certain aspects of his lifestyle" (ie sex, drugs and rock & roll, I suppose.)

  • Not what his wife told me...Cover up of his habit.

  • Please explain?

  • Sorry Miles Hunt is a bit of a twat

  • why? if your gonna make a sweeping statement like that, then explain why

  • yeah, Miles is a twat

  • My favourite Stuffies song by far. They were so under-rated. What a great band - I'm always pleased when one of their songs pops up when my ipod is on 'shuffle'.

  • Where is this taken from, must be one of the last with Rob.

  • I remember I had this on an old VHS tape. It was a joint venture program between Channel 4 and RTE (Ireland) can't remember the name of the program but Dave Fanning was the Irish presenter. I think it was shot in Camden Town. The Rock Steady seems to be the name (of the show) that is sticking in my head.

  • Its sad - but they both shine in our eyes, minds and memories.

Take the bulge and make it yours! [o]

  • this is great takes me back to the day,how good are the stuff?

  • R.I.P bob and martin (gilkys)

  • Robert (Bass Thing) Jones R.I.P

We all miss you here on the cheap seats.

  • It's such a great performance! anybody knows what happened to bass thing?

  • Following internal disagreements within the group, The Bass Thing left in December 1989, heading straight for America as soon as the group had played the final night of a sellout 3 night residence at Birmingham's Aston Villa Leisure Centre. Unsure as to his musical involvemnent in america, but i'm sure you could find out....

  • but I heard he died...what do you know about it,please? thanks anyway

  • I'm sure it was in the papers that Rob Jones died of something like sleep apnia??? (could be completely wrong). I think he was in a band in the US called the Tunnel and Bridge crew. I could be completely wrong again.

  • heroin overdose in 1993

  • wikipedia search for, Rob "The Bass Thing" Jones

  • BASS THING!!!

  • i've got this on vid as well, bassthings last show!god bless him

  • I wish this song would last 120 minutes ...

  • fuck off mate you dont know what your talking about. one of the best bands you would of seen at the time buy of course you didnt see them did you??!!

  • Are you talking to me???

  • I used to own the same Eat top, feelin very nostalgic for my teenage years. Still a great track and great band.

  • its not a boast, but its a comment on the film the band etc, if you dont want comments then dont add clips

  • its ok mate first time i saw them was 1987, in london at the old marquee, still have the unbearable t shirt, i think there wasnt that many at the gig, they did two nights at the place

  • miss the long hair, miss Gilks & Fidly.

  • great to see the original line up brings back the days of being a teenager and being all sweaty in Brixton academy.God Bless the Stuffies, RIP BOB and MARTIN.

  • It bulges with opportunity, bulges...

  • memories are made of this.

  • Is that the Rock Steady thing ?

  • Fantastic stuff. I never saw the original lineup live, just got to see them once Paul replaced the Bass Thing. Thanks for this!

  • thanks for a very rare video of a very rare song . brings back good memories of a no worry life... no bills mortgage .kids etc. still life is probably better now but good to look back..

  • Great stuff. Brings back (very hazy!) memories of smmer festivals way back when. Thanx a lot for this amigo.
