  • links please...i hate it how ppl show something but never give the links

  • I wonder how well Guilty Gear X or Capcom vs SNK2 would run.

  • slow, dude. my null dc is 2x faster than this...

  • Seems a little slow... I think I'll stick to ePSXe...

  • Thanks for uploading this. Im very interested on see how well it emultes Capcom vs SNK 1 or 2 (import). If its not much to ask could you test it out? i have an HP netbook (same specs as yours). thx for your time.

  • what about shenmue??? How does it run?

  • what about shenmue??? How does it run?

  • gma booster and the game is perfect :D

  • 8 fps

  • i will see what i can do :-)

maybe ill try it tonight - else ill try it within a few weeks.

btw. the reason i dont use fraps is that it eats cpu resources. if the netbook had tvout i could capture the video to another computer... maybe ill buy a vga to s-video converter

  • how does the netbook handle DoA 2 and Resident Evil Code Veronica two games i wanna play but missed out on back in the day

  • ive tried doa2 and its VERY slow... maybe twice as slow as soul calibur in this video.

i think u will need a much more powerful pc, or u will have to wait for the new lightweight "NullDCe"... if it will ever be released

  • @LastNinjaBB6 Ok thanks, ill put it on my mac instead :p, shame id love to play it at college lol

  • Wow, even my old computer with an Nvidia Geforce 6200 and Pentium 4 overclocked to 2.8 Ghz could barely handle DC games...

  • what os? that seems weird. perhaps the ATOM is a little more reliable. More MHZ does not always mean BETTER

  • @Notyu1459

Windows XP service pack 2. I'm betting that the Atom performs better than the Pentium 4 even though the Pentium 4 has a higher processing speed.

  • ok... try the old NullDC 1.0.0 beta 1.6

its much faster than newer ones. also read joshsniper27 comments here

  • the thing is while a netbook isn't a powerhouse, you should be pretty happy if it can emulate the dreamcast.

  • exactly how i think... im very satisfied if i will ever get full speed dreamcast on this little machine...

but of course i wouldnt mind playing playstation 2 as well, when netbooks gets more powerful. then ill finally be able to play FF X :-)

  • i know it has been almost a year but i finally remembered how to get near fullspeed on nulldc beta 1.6. check FPU underclocking switch audio to chankast aika textures to static sort off modifier volumes off when running open task manager and set priority to high use setfsb to overclock to 2.1 ghz i got a constant 85-90% even at that percentage it felt fullspeed so i think the percentages aren't completely accurate an atom at 2 ghz isn't quite enough to run nulldc but 2.2 ghz would do nice imo
  • thanks i been searching the net for hours one last question though what's that last thing

"use setfsb to overclock to 2.1 ghz" i dont know what that means

  • setfsb is a program. our eeepcs are supported for overclocking and it allows you to set your frontside bus so that you have more control over your overclocking. the atom handles a 2.1 ghz overclock easy but going higher you will run into compatibility problems and BSoDs.

i set my frontside bus to 175.1 to get 2.1 ghz it's default is 133

  • nice! i will try it too when i reinstall windows xp on the computer...

i tried "setfsb" 9 months ago but the computer crashed no matter what speed i choose...

but i will try it again :-)

p.s. do u have any tips to get it working? maybe uninstalling the Super Hybrid Engine?

  • yeah set it to 175.1 and it should be fine. 2.1 ghz tends to be a stable clock for most atoms.

i didn't have to uninstall she but i always set it back to high performance mode so it was back to it's normal clocks.

  • awesome graphics for a netbook!

  • and the fact that its emulating them is amazing! emluating a console required serious optimization and a powerful enough machine.

  • also, on average, the system emulating the console must be 2-4 times more powerful. I think that you'd be pretty suprised how powerfula netbook is next to last generation consoles.

  • that's kind of slow, use chankast then turn on the capcom hack (which enables frameskipping) so it will always seem like it's at a constant 60 fps

  • pika: that video is a year old.. he's also using 1.00 beta 6 ... 1.03 is newest.

Crankast is for old computer systems... overclocked systems around 3ghz runs great.

One of the BIG things I found was just monitor lag. If you are running any emulators on LCDs... Plug in an old tv or CRT monitor and set to 640x480 resolution... These games look soooo beautiful on those displays and not like a cheap computer game.

  • very nice! :-)

  • Not bad at all! Very smooth, no graphic dropouts--now, all the emulator has to do is run full speed!

This shows real promise...I'd LOVE to play some of my Dreamcast games on a portable comp!

  • Whats the point of super performance mode.

Also thanks I managed to get it running on my samsung nc10

  • asus provides a speed regulating tool with the EEE901

when its set to "super performance mode" it gives a 5% overclock boost.

i know that "80mhz extra" doesnt sound that much, but considering that windows processes eats performance in the background and the dreamcastemulator emulates sound, cpu and graphics it makes a small but noticable improvement

Pheenix42: yes, a little more speed would really be handy

perhaps the Atom Z550 (2ghz) CPU is sufficient, or "NullDCe"

  • omg please use fraps

  • no way...

fraps will slow down the performance to a level that u cant see the performance of the EEE...

the intention of the video is to see exactly what speed and playability that can be achieved on a EEE901 with NullDC...

hopefully NullDCe will bring fullspeed whenever its released, if its also ported/released for Atom

  • You should wear some fancy rhinestone gloves. Might be fun.

  • omg slow!!

  • haha lol why do you wear gloves? xD are you a green monster? O_O

  • ouch... u noticed ^_^

lets just say im a bit (overly) paranoid... i dont like the idea to be easily identified here on youtube.

especially since im commenting some videos on youtube with radical material, so some ppl may get pissed...

  • good thing you have a matte screen

  • huh? the screen have low brightness?

yeah lowered the screen brightness to meld better with the background... and also the camera gets crazy with big contrasts (=when the white is too "bright", and the blacks are too "dark" at the same time)

  • nah man im just saying a lot of these netbooks have glossy reflective screens ... then you would have to wear a face mask XD

  • haha, good thing u said that! ...in case ill make more benchmark videos with newer netbooks ill then consider some more camoflage if the screen reflect too much :)

  • look at his unser name hes a ninja!!!! Hence the gloves! lol

  • NOw i see! :D

  • fail at soul calibour

  • dude i has full speed on it i have the 900ha i used setfsb to overclock to 2.1 ghz it runs perfectly stable it can reach 2.2-2.25 but at that range you're pretty unstable i know how into netbook gaming you are so i have to suggest setfsb it opens up a lot of doors i also plan to try ps2 emulation soon maybe final fantasy x or kingdom hearts cause they are well optimized or disgaea cause it's not that mind blowiing when it comes to graphics and it's worth playing did you ever end up trying ps2?
  • so final fantasy x is running at 50% speed

    i have sound off

    and i'm overclocked

i recently also picked up a hacked graphics driver too

so i don't know if i can get any better than this

but it's decent for turnbased games like this

plus it makes combos and stuff for overdrives easy as hell

  • very impressive! :-)

i tried marvel vs capcom 2 for ps2 and i got very bad performance maybe 20% speed and maybe 40% in some moments...

but mvc2 is a 2d game and ive heard that sometimes 2d can be more demanding because the cpu must render the graphics

please upload video of performance if possible

  • every capcom arcade fighter runs perfectly on my acer aspire one using MAME. iwouldnt even bother with ps2 for the fighters

  • thanks! ill try it out :-)

  • sorry about being so slow to respond

i actually was in the process of moving out

i have a webcam that i could shoot video from at my parent's place

but it'll take me a little while before i can get it

also i lost a couple frames when i tried filming last

so i have to figure out what went wrong

could be because i had to run firefox along with it

(recording video from webcam to youtube)

so i'll record with a different computer if necessary

    but i'll get this online

  • This is too slow to be playable.

  • i agree the speed could be better, but personally i can play it in that speed considering the intended environments for the eee netbooks = outdoor use...

on a bigger laptop or desktop used in a ergonomic environment i would also think its a bit too slow

  • damn my 1.7ghz laptop 1 gig of ram and intel 945gm got full speed thol lol.

  • "You Win!"

    DUDE YOU WON

  • hehu?

    the final battle isnt included

  • Rotfl, it works even betetr than my 3ghz pc XD

  • try "NullDC 1.0.0 beta 1.6" - ITS VERY FAST! :-)

"NullDC 1.0.3" - ITS MUCH SLOWER (WORSE!) DEPENDING ON YOUR GRAPHICS CARD

    BEST RESULTS FOR EEE901: NullDC 1.0.0 beta 1.6 :-)

  • Nulldc isn't much slower! I tried both and NullDC 1.6 is slightly faster. NullDC 1.0.3 has higher compatability and much less graphical problems.

  • of course 1.0.3 is better for faster computers than the EEE... but for the EEE and many old pentium4's nulldc 1.0.0 beta 1.6 is the way to go

this video is about playability on the EEE...

and for this purpose 1.0.0 beta 1.6 is way better and run circles around 1.0.3 speedwise.

  • 5 stars, thank you for the informations! Work every PSX game great?

  • every psx-game ive tried works great... among the games ive tried is spyro, crash bandicoot, tekken3 :-)

Connectix Virtual Game Station give perfect psx gameplay/performance in all games adaik...

if u want special graphics effects and high resolutions (ex. 1024x768) u can use other emulators and it also gives perfect gameplay in most cases.

most nintendo 64 emu games is full speed

almost no dreamcast game works very good... but as u can see in this video SOUL CALIBUR WORKS WELL ENOUGH :-)

  • Thanks!

  • why run this at 800x600?

wouldn't that cause a substantial drop in framerate?

    wouldn't 640x480 be more playable?

  • you are right with many games, but for some reason it made a very small difference with soul calibur... i tried 640x480 too and the difference was maybe 1-2 extra fps... this is typical for when the graphics card provides enough power, while the cpu does not

  • 5/5! You deserve it... Ty. :)

  • thank you, yourself for the vote :-)

  • nice. pretty cool. the Eee pc is looking a lil more impressive

  • yes, when buying this computer i never expected it to work this good.

thanks for the 5-star vote! :)

  • yeah i havent seen this on youtube yet i figured it deserved 5 stars lol

  • can you show us a ps1 emulator running crash or spyro

  • yes, i will try... i only need to find a dl location for those games

  • ok, i will download the torent from TPB.

i found all games... will crash bandicoot 1 and spyro 1 be satisfactory?

  • yes that would be great

  • Have you tested a PS2 Emulator yet?

  • not yet... but i will do :-)

i dont have high expectations though because dreamcast is slow on eee901, ps2 should be even slower (i dont even have dualcore)

  • Mine is normal speed like arcade coin op. Your game is slow because your laptop specs is not powerfully for speed but good job. :)

  • thanks! :-)

yes, i just want to show everyone what to expect from a netbook...

before buying this computer i was searching for a video of Dreamcast gaming on EEE (with Atom CPU) but i didnt find one... so this video is here to make it easier to decide if a netbook will be satisfactory for casual emulator gaming...

but u're right... performance can be better than this... Dead or Alive 2 is VERY slow on the current emulators with netbooks...

i will upload more videos about netbook performance
