  • i played this game so long that it fcking burned and melted my snes

  • sound is better on arcade version

  • Good old Arkanoid, I love this game.

  • I love Breakout and/or Arkanoid style games! I think every system should have at least one.

  • Mark should review Shatter...

  • you sound strangely calm here

  • the blackberry has always had brick breaker which it more or less the same with some of the same power ups

  • Homer Simpson loves this game!

  • I like the Tron homage at the begining with the ball hitting the things face and the arkanoid grid typeface. Had a snes, but never had that many games as i was poor and couldnt afford them, starfox and superstarwars along with 2 or 3 others was all i had, i think i ended up swapping it for something....magic beans i think....

  • Hmm, the speech could use a little bit more enthutiasm. I didnt really feel that this was truely meant, but more of a "read out loud" kinda teleprompt text.

So, keep on doing these clips, but perhaps practice a little more on the speech part. Otherwise great description. I'm from the old Commodore 64 time and I loved the original. So its great to see it being reintroduced by fans.

  • Arkanoid Doh it Again! is definitely on my list of SNES games to get.

  • Chek my remake of Arkanoid in 3D, enter to my site delek . com .ar or in my YT channel its a video. Regards Delek.

  • Good stuff man, you sold me on this game I'll have to check it out. I used to like Breakout alot.

  • I like revenge of DOH more .

    (arkanoid arcade 2)

  • @Pro21xx Yeah, lol.

  • @Pro21xx Yeah, I am surprised as well. However, that was for Japan's Super Famicom. The last release in the U.S was Frogger (1998). From a console continuation perspective, it was really not much longer than the NES life spam from 1985-1994, for the SNES was really only from 1991-1999. Japanese Super Famicom lasted from 1990-2003. That is an amazing fact! So yeah, during the early period of the N64/PS1/Saturn era, there were still SNES games being released for those still wanting more from it!

  • @Pro21xx Actually they ended in 2000, with the last SNES game officially released by HAL Laboratory 'Metal Slader Glory: Director's Cut', date: November 29, 2000

  • SHATTER has finally overtaken Arkanoid fever.

  • i did a review of this game too and i think it is awesome. check out my review at this channel, PhiDaoProductions.

  • my freind had this kick ass game!!

  • i play the nes version with my dad still haha

  • I did as you said and I now own this awesome game.

  • Ahhh I just love this game, its really fun to play, its like a pick up and play, I have it on my PSP.

  • I believe this version supports the SNES mouse...you could get the analog control then.

  • you should tootaal make classic game room t-shirts!

  • i love mike and ike's! i got a pack of them from graduating from college as a gift :)

  • I LIKE MIKE AND IKES!

    BTW great review Mark!

  • I played alot of super Dx ball in high school in comp class.

  • there´s an excelent version of it on the iPod/iPhone

  • its markanoid

  • "Superman" theme at 3:33

  • Great game - the BBC micro actually had a very good version of Arkanoid on it too.

  • Lol it looks collest than PC edition =)

  • I enjoyed this game. It's the perfect game to turn down the volume and play your own music to.

  • i was just playing this. the last boss pisses me off lol

  • I cant believe how small your balls are

  • @NadrianATRS hey fag do you want a big dick then? shithead

  • Comment removed

  • The Moai from Gradius are taking over!

  • One of the SNES's last games, I think.

  • I have arkanoid Doh it again and also kirby's blockball(Gameboy). Both fantastic games especially arkanoid.

  • 1997? Jeez.

  • wow i should get that

but im fine just getting super mario kart and starfox =l

  • They released the Xbox Live Arcade version on my birthday ^_^ Good review, Mark, love this game. Also if you want Arkanoid with a paddle in your home get the NES version, there was a special "Vaus" paddle controller designed with Arkanoid in mind specifically for the NES.

  • they made an arkanoid with a paddle attachment u put in the gba slot on a ds. i believe it would be mucheasier to find a ds copy than an nes copy and a "vaus" paddle controller

  • Really? Didnt know that. Well the NES copy of Arkanoid is pretty affordable today, but yes, the Vaus controller is rare and about $30-40. So yeah the DS version would be better.

  • I used to have this for the Tandy Color Computer 2. I hated it at the time because the cover art showed this awesome arcade shooter that took place in space, and the actual game was nothing like it. But now I like it because it is an addictive little game. The SNES version is prolly the best version I've played.

  • 2:05 Yes, a red one! Shooty time! ^_^

  • So...why is it called "Doh It Again"?

    Translation error, I assume?

  • They must have liked The Simpsons....

  • I actually found out that supposedly the end boss is called "Doh", but the title is still fairly obscure.

  • that is correct.

  • cool,i just heard of this game recently.breakaway or breakout was the same game a ball with board you move left/right.

  • Wauw I grew up with the NES version and just watching this and hearing the music/sound effects bring backs so many memories.

  • I'll be DOH'ING IT AGAIN this Wednesday...on XBLA

  • You would really like Alleyway for the gameboy, its the same game pretty much

  • Man I miss the old games like this as all you do is just pick up a pad and play, as Well I think they should start relishing 2D based games as they were more fun to play.

  • Oh man I loved Arkanoid. The sheer number of quarters I dropped into this, Rampage and The Speed Rumbler during that era was crazy.

    And worth it. ^.^

  • lol there was a arkanoid shirt when i was in japan lol

  • LMAO at the "Game Over" tune! Will hunt that game down!

  • Great little review there, but sod using the joypad to play it with, get hold of the superb SNES mouse (the one that came bundled with Mario Paint...I have 2 :-D ) & get that plugged in...it plays like a dream with that. Arkanoid is also one of my fave games of all time too. I first played it on the fantastic Commodore 64, and for me too it brings back great memories on the C64 which is also an amazing version, but also on this SNES version which I still own. A truly stunning game. Cheers :)

  • One of my favorite arcade games. Plays great with the SNES arcade stick. Nice review mark! Keep those SNES games comin!

  • why is it subtitled "Doh It Again?" haha i love this game but i've always wondered that

  • hmmmmmmmm a blue object (that looks like a pill) that makes the paddle larger what were they thinking.

  • Hmmm... the timeframe is about right, now that you mention it (if you allow a few years for research and development, I mean).

  • @JesusOfSuburbia94

Well, Viagra first came out in 1998, I can't remember if it was on the Vectrex ;)

  • Megaball for AMIGA is also good.

  • homer simpson plays arkanoid

  • Doh is a bitch.

    Great game.

  • The blue power-up at 3:21 must have been Viagara because the paddle got bigger LOL.

  • cialis

  • 1997, wtf where they smoking...

  • I got a 7800 because of this show and I am planning on a Colecovision.

  • Oh man, this game was class, i remember playing it on a speecy 48k. in the 80s, even my dad thought it was ace. Sticky bat anyone!!!!!

  • cool

  • Didnt they just release a new arkanoid for the Nintendo DS?

  • yeah they did. I played a demo of it, and it stays pretty true to the original and also has some new features and such. I thought it was pretty fun.

  • They did, but it's not like the others. It plays more like Breakout with power ups.

There's no boss battles or little aliens that interrupt your shots like in this game, or previous games.

But the game works really well with the touch screen and the imported paddle controller.

  • I'd like Classic Game Room to review more SNES games

  • And if u like Arkanoid and oldies type Arkanoid try to find a 90's game called Popcorn (it's french, I think)

  • OMG brings memories I loved this game since a kid especially the laser powerup this game never aged lol i think all these Arkanoid type games the more time u spend in the level, the ball speeds up even more.

Please correct me if I'm wrong ;-)

  • lol i remember this game

  • Great review!

  • nice vid

  • i like that they included viagra pills in arkanoid

    ^.^

  • where could i find this game?

  • where could i find a power coard for the snes. mine i missing, and i wanna play sim city

  • I would chack Ebay or Amazon if you can't find any of them there or don't wan't to buy one then just use an Emulator.

  • ebay

  • Taito, Arkanoid game for WiiWare. Do it.

  • The NES game rocks, but it's always so expensive on eBay with the controller.

  • We've waited so long, and here it is, a SNES review.

  • Mike n Ike's sound really fruitalicious right now

  • Mike an Ikes are good I just had some this afternoon, thanks i want some more LOL

    This game is SO good

  • this game rocked

  • It does use the full effect and what i loved about it was the shadow of the ball that was asome ro me

  • "... And it uses the strengh of the Super Nintendo at full effect"??

    How's that??

  • Mike & Ike powerups FTW. Those things rock, the only thing better is Mark & Daves :D

  • Man... When I was 16, my cousin would go to the YMCA... and I would go with JUST to play their arkanoid machine that they had on free play.

Suckers... could have been making a fortune off of me.

  • COOL

  • Oh yeah, Mike & Ike's. Can't get enough of those.

The sensible thing that could be done is a PSN release of Arkanoid Returns, the psx game.

    ...it features in-stage music!!! :o

  • I love the little echo sounds...

  • less then one day? ERR no he hasnt..

  • they've made so many versions of this game.

  • I used to play arkanoid for a tenner a game at the local poolroom. A classic.

  • the only cure for ARKANOID fever is more cowbell

  • The only cure for COWBELL is more arkanoid

  • are you okay mark you have put out 4 videos in less then one day . i love Classic Game Room as much as every one else but take a break just to keep your self heathy

  • Working hard makes me stronger -CGRHD

  • Doh!

  • I got that damn theme stuck in my head now haha. Do da dooo da do dee doo!

  • nice music, i should buy this game

  • looks a lot better than alleyway

  • Bought the game on a whim a few years back. One of the best choices I ever made.

  • I played Arkanoid before, but I've never played this sequel before. The original Arkanoid was fun though.

Was this a rarer game? I just don't remember ever seeing it on the SNES. Looks great though.

  • Not rare, it's pretty common. Though I haven't played it I owned a copy at one point.

  • this is by far my favorite arcade game EVER! can't wait til it's out on XBLA this year.

  • No music in the game or have you just switched it off?

  • Sorry I can't work today. I have Arkanoid Fever!

  • I love Arkanoid! even though I suck at the arcade version but this one looks like its worth purchasing, hell even the music made me want to buy it.

  • Those bleeps are so annoying ! Sounds like an old mobile phone !

  • There's a Jap import version for the DS that comes with a paddle controller that goes in the GBA slot!

  • Haven't played this one... Gotta get a SNES on ebay and hopefully this game. =P

  • All right!!!! A Super NES review!!! "Arkanoid Doh It Again" was and still is a great game. The Super NES truly utilizes the uniqueness of this game. Five stars my friends, five stars indeed!!!

  • Looks fun.

  • I feel like watching close encounters of the first kind

  • Ooooooo Arkanoid! I can play this hours without end! Ping pings are the good life!

  • I less than three you Inecom Company!

  • i did have lots of fun with this game

  • yay snes review

  • This looks like a must have verson of Arkanoid.

Cant wait for more SNES reviews, you've only begun to tap the library of excellent games.

  • i've played alota games like this but never this

good review i think i'll get it

  • Ya, he is the reason i bought a Colecovision too and got out my Atari and stuff.

  • Arkanoid the revenge of DOH was the sequel. Yep played it for hours.

  • Ah, love these styles of games! Reminds of DX Ball for computer. There should be something alike for the Nintendo DS. Could've been sweet! :)
