in response to earlier posts, yes the ST185 has the CT26 but so does the St205. The CT20 or CT20b as it is sometimes called is actually run in a Toyota Camry, Hi-Ace, Hilux and Landcruiser. The ST205 CT26 turbo is just a larger version of the ST185 CT26 as it has a bigger inlet and impeller. I agree that the ST185 turbo is all out of ideas by 5500 rpm and the ST205 turbo has much longer legs and isn't out of breath by 7000 rpm but the ST185 turbo does spool up a little as it's a little smaller.
@skykid4000 i know about thishas ive had the mr2 turbo and is exact same engine and turbo and the ct20 is a smaller unit , but it delvs more top end power as it pulls none stop till 7,000 , and as said it spools up a tad faster with it being smaller , so all in all a better turbo , the ct26 tho will pobably be able to withstand more power if a car was modded up
also technically the sw20 mr2 came out in 1989, and had a mild facelift at some point, the st205 in this video came out in 1993, so the mr2 was based on the same design as the st185 which is less modern than the st205, so even with the mild facelift, the st205 is more modern, plusthe gt4 had super struts which were pretty advanced at the time i believe

@Billybob09871 the mr2 turbo has one of the best launches a car can have its mid engine on the rear whels give it great traction and no bogging down betwen 89-93 mr2 used 220 bhp st185 engine with the bigge ct26 turbo , and 94 up 240bhp+ st205 engine with smalle ct20 turbo . ct26 turned weak after 5,500 rpm , whereas the ct20 pulled hard all the way to 7,200 rpm , rev 3 engine ironed out the headgasket problems which st185 had , however the st185 does have a stronger block over the st205

and no m8 , a done up evo v a done mr2 , no the evo doenst have a chance m8 , a mr2 with TRD parts put inside and on the chassis the evo doesnt come close m8 , the only car which can beat mr2,s and toyota is the nissan company with there skyline and 300zx models but then toyota just bring the supra to play !!! the mr2 is one of the best launches in a race 0-60 and for the 1/4 mile with its engine on the back wheels gearbox there aswell it has very fast transmission and great grip

@BL4STIN The Gt4's handling would kill an MR2 and Supra. Drag strip is a completely different story but whats the fun in racing in a straight line! The old Nissany Sunny GTiR's were ugly as hell but they could piss on an Mr2, GT4 or EVO anyday.

@clarkydpimp sorry m8 ure wrong , GT4 would handle only better on gravel as its 4wd , on the road the mr2 has a mid engine layout which gives it better handling and balance , therefore handles better , also winning in a straiht is the best place to win , say if you pull up at the ligjhts and someone else does , that is the place to win , and the mr2 would win nearly all the time , it has an a amazing launch with the engine on the back wheels giving it great traction

@clarkydpimp hey m8, firstly the mr2 would destroy the celica on any track and any drag strip , it has same engine it is lighter it is midengined so has better weight distribution and handling , its just better fullstop . The supra on the otherhand is in a total differant league , not only is it quicker but it handlees far better than the pair of them and the car was built way ahead of its time. 4wd only means it will pull out of a hairpin better and will be better in wet

@BL4STIN that answers mr2 bit of my question but you never said if you had driven the celica, engine wise toyota made e versions of the 3sgte engine, the first in the st165 celica, the second in the st185, and the thrid inthe st205 like in this video, the first two were very similar apart from power, the third had alot more improvements and a different turbo, the mr2 had both the rev 2 and 3, although the rev 3 in the mr2 had 220bhp and the gt4 as here had 240bhp

My GT2 [homemade GT + 3S-GTE] doesn't lack for stability and has much less drivetrain loss than a true GT4.
Trust me man - Celicas of ANY type can handle their asses off.
Would we prefer a true GT4? Obviously
but since we never got the pleasure we'll stick with what we can make for ourselves :)
