Da e så lite sånt her, ekte gammel norsk kulturmusikk... Han gode Haakon her ser ut så han e ifrå fortida. D e så koselig me sånn her familiesammenkomsta..
I definitely hear him saying "Troll tuning" (not "Trond") -- so you might want to correct that on the video title. Troll tuning is a well-known way of tuning a hardingfele (Hardanger fiddle). I don't know the tune he's playing, but it sounds like a listening tune. Listening tunes are not meant for dancing and so do not have a standard beat.
In the beginning he also says "huldre" which is sort of a Norwegian witch, and is also a type of odd tuning. Then about 1:15 or he says Trond tuning. Perhaps next time you visit, you can ask him to name the tune and the region, e.g. Bruremarsj fra Telemark - Wedding march from Telemark
Regarding the background conversation: Imagine you're on a once in a lifetime vacation visiting 2nd, 3rd, & 4th cousins whom you've never met & perhaps won't have the opportunity to see again; you have only one short evening in this home; there are four of you. Got the image? Conversations will happen under these circumstances. It wasn't staged, we had no knowledge of YouTube nor any inkling that others would have any interest later. OK?

Håkon calls the melody "Huldra" and it is played with the TROLL-tuning.
The transcriptions of this song and thousands of others can be found by seaching on the web for "feleverkene". (Norwegain only)
