In my opinion it was a little of both. I'm sure that he really did want to kiss her, but at the same time he knew the consequences because Danny said "If you touch each other you're gonna be shocked." So therefore he did it knowing that he could see how the others could fight, but he could have gone about it any other way, so the kiss was wanted (on both sides)
I love when he tells kate that she tasted like strawberries. You can tell that she enjoyed kissing him. I loved how he kicked the crap out of all of the others.
