Why are you doing this in edit view? Multitrack is provided for precisely this job.

Thanks for the video. I use CoolEdit Pro (I refuse to upgrade to get all the stuff I don't need for more money). Just a suggestion... when you silence things - try NOT to use 'Silence'. It is very abrupt and doesn't sound 'natural'. I usually just use 'amplify' and reduce to between -25 and -40db. This will make the cuts sound more 'natural'

As you opend a mp3 file you should note that audition does, as it does in your case too, do NOT reduce the volume of the file. So you can hear clearly after the first beats a heavy distortion. Only way to remove it is to normalize the file with mp3gain or calculate the replay gain and convert it while applying the gain (like with fb2k).

Audition 3 still does not convert a mp3 file automatically to 32bit or do something else to prevent clipping while opening a too loud file.

i work at my college station and we use this program for our sweepers and promos. it's pretty fun making them but it's also a hassle coming up with spots.

Running it on an underpowered computer? Or your soundcard isn't good enough/broken/wrong driver?

The problem is probably not with Audition :)
