Here is how I do it so you don't have to listen to your own voice: Enable voice recording in fraps, but set a push to talk key that is the same key as your push to talk key in left 4 dead

in case anyone doesn't have it yet. voice_loopback 1 followed by voice_show_mute it will list every player but you with a number. you're the missing number. voice_mute then your number. Ie, voice_mute 3. then when playing demo back to record with fraps, voice_reset_mutelist. This loops your voice for recording, then mutes it in game, but unmutes it in demo playback for fraps. ;)

In fraps theres a toggle where you culd record ur external audio (mic) and record your speakers at the same time. So yeah. no playbacks about the voice.

Fraps actually doesn't record the game sound.

So for this, you have to set the windows audio for mixer.

Go for the audio options in your tray bar (the one that's got the clock)

Go options, properties, in the box mixer dispositive, choose input, and after click on recording.Then just choose the stereo mixer, and it will record the computer's audio.

hey kilplix you can mute yourself in any source game by typing in "status" then find the number you are. then type voice_mute yournumber . it also works to mute anyone else also so if you have a mic spammer or something just do that with the number if the mic spammer. then you can record your voice easily without hearing it!

@firetailedfox When you get in-game you go into the console and type "record [nameofthefileyouwanttosaveita­s]" and whenever you leave the game it automatically stops, but if you wanna stop it manually just enter stop in the console.. and you play it back by going to the main menu, opening the console and entering "playdemo [nameofthefileyousaveditas]"

@jamescobler, try recording from microphone with Stereo Mixer. Name is somewhat dependent on your OS and/or your soundcard, but usually its something like that. With this option your Audio Input sends both microphone sounds AND every sound you hear from Audio Output.

It is easier if you just do "Record Demo" in console, and then when you want to record it, play the demo and use that "Voice_loopback 1" code, and record it in fraps or xfire. It works out.

i tried that voice loopback thing when i first tried recording but, yeah, it gets annoying hearing your own voice looped back to you. I finally decided to run windows sound recorder in the background while i'm playing, then i just match up the recorded voice with the video when i'm editing. its a little more time consuming but it makes it easier to focus on the game when i'm playing.

My guess is that he has a seperate program that records the mic only. Then he uses some program to merge the audio with the game video and audio. That way you can have higher quality voice sound. If you look at his videos his voice is a mutch better quality than that of his friends.
