omg... people still see Ancient Alien Series as a tv show that wears the most enthusiasm on the issue of "believing in extraterrestrials"... That's a somewhat "corrupted" thinking that the show do really incites on the masses of watchers to believe in. But I think the show uses the "extraterrestrial" subject as a mere conceptual artifice to make singular minds just plunges their way of interpreting todays phenomena into a more deeply (but still hidden) range of precedent factual references.

They certainly already knew that such theme would be not well receptive by the audience. I guess there's a more "serious" intent behind them, once the arguments on the ancient cultural forms are too plausible to be consider as "totally unrelated". They just show things that we don't learn at the conventional schools, and aliens turns out as a somewhat "political" artifice too.

Another thing not discussed. The pillar with the 3-dimensional alligator/cat creature. Since the carving isn't glued to the pillar, then that means the whole pillar had to be thicker to begin with and then chiseled out to make the alligator/cat creature pop out. Seriously! Look at the sophistication of that carving! That's the work of a master artist. That isn't a beginner. Ask any stone carver today how long that would take to plan and make. A half-wit ancestor? One thing they didnt mention. They talked about Gobleki Tepe being buried under sand, but they said that someone buried it. Ok. Fine. But imagine burying a whole complex that size! You'd have to start from one end and work to the other. You couldn't be stepping on top of everything as you buried it. It would take way too long to haul all the sand from another location and bury the structures.

I'm curious how they are able to estimate the age of a carving in stone. I would think they would only be able to determine the age of the stone itself, not the carving.

@mldnathai They can't really date the carvings. They date other organic materials around the site, and use their proximity, to approximate the age of the site...for instance, grains, wood tools, etc. They might also see similarities between two sites, and use one, to help date the other. I'm sure there are many other ways as well.
