  • I love it!

Made me sad my breastfeeding days are over.... 3 boys for 2+ years each.

As a midwife I am really glad to see a positive show of breastfeeding and women enjoying themselves.

  • i used to breastfeed... then i took an arrow to the knee.

  • AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

  • None of the people I have met who have taken part in burlesque have done so from a "sex sells" point of view.

  • I also didn't quite understand the comments (hidden unless you click on them) comparing burlesque to pole dancing and porn. Are all women supposed to pretend that none of us like dressing up, that we all find the female form so shocking that it must always be hidden? Is the woman who left the comments making the incorrect assumption that all burlesque performers are female, slim, young, etc?

  • I found this really funny. I'm not sure whether anyone answered the person who asked about the cows. I thought that it made milking cows look a bit absurd, but maybe that was wishful thinking. We are not calves! They have to make many changes to cows' milk (not just turning it into dried formula but adding and subtracting many nutrients), otherwise it is indisputably harmful for human babies.

  • `very funny, those yummy mummies look like they are having a whale of a time!

  • My breast fed son is highly amused by this video. He's laughing and clapping.

  • absolute genius! Well done! x

  • I'm so embarrassed!

  • What the hell did I just watch?

  • girl in the middle looks like katy perry

  • did I catch all the words? no, because the guy with the papers is jumping all the time

  • Love it! Well done girls, about time there was something postivite and fun about BF

  • I have had four children, and I try to breast feed for as long as possible, this makes me wanna do it again! Very funny andc ute! Good job everyone!

  • Brian Bloody Belo !!!!!!!!!

  • This vid blows stereotypes out of the water - the point is that it's challenging the idea that only 'Earth Mothers' breastfeed. It's not 'worthy' stuff; it's not aimed at your average Mumsnetter - that's the point.

  • Really fun, upbeat and a great message!

  • Fabulous :) We need a light hearted look at breastfeeding -everything is SO serious now :)

  • bloody brilliant- so good to seee such sassy sexy ladies promoting breastfeeding! keep up the good work ladies x

  • YAY!! Almost 11K views!!! Love it...... Yzzy xx mamapacks.eu

  • so hilarious!! my nursling and I have watched it several times now :)

  • I loved this :) fantastic job girls! promoting a worthy cause! xx

  • Love the video! I did a short & sweet post on it with a link at my Nursing Bling blog. Thanks for your creativity!

  • i love it!!! super creative!

  • Such a catchy tune, I will be humming it all day. I love the video and the ladies clearly enjoying their babies. Breastfeeding is such a part of my every day life, I often forget that it is not something everyone gets to experience. I got a lump in my throat when the mum kissed her sleeping baby at the end. Well done to everyone involved!

  • Love it !!!! from an Australian Mum of 3 :D

  • oops sorry I posted that 3 times.....oh well triple the praise

  • Its obvious this was done to promote a worthy cause and is done with good intentions. well done all those mums and babies. I think its real good fun, to much "seriousness" in the world. I love seeing lighthearted funny stuff like this. I think the "sexy" bit is very tongue in cheek and the mums and babies very sweet.

  • Absolutely love it. fantastic song and great video.

  • @MILKYWAIMAN I think the idea is to make women feel that they are still attractive if they breastfeed. This video, might encourage men and boys to watch for `wrong` reasons, but at least they might learn something.

And if ti encourages more mums to try, that can only be good. What would be your suggestion, for a promotional video?

  • Lovely! I was so sad when my daughter self-weaned a 13 months, it was such a wonderful experience :D

Hope that this encourages some people to choose BF over bottles, if they can

    x

  • well i managed to hear every word and read all the cards so whats the complaints about

at end of day people will always find a reson to find fault in something it say at top ITS A BIT OF FUN

i think its fun amusing and gets the message across that there is an alternative to formula

    well done

  • Excellent video! Breastfeeding is the first selfless act that a mother can give her child, I don't understand how anyone could choose to deprive their child of something with lifelong health benefits.

  • Excellent!! :-)

  • I really enjoyed this, huge thanks to all the people involved.

It feels really empowering and seemed to give Babies a voice for once. I'm trying to say that this seemed to actually give the message that its fab and completely normal for Babies to love your Boobs much better than the NHS Breast is Best campaign even made made feel.

  • BRILLIANT! As a former midwife, I wish I'd had this to show some of my ladies... They seemed to think that breastfeeding was grotesque, abnormal... This shows us that normal, fun-loving ladies breastfeed their babies, because it's simply the best they can do for them. Have you ever looked at the ingredients list on a tin of formula? I won't let my children have anything I can't pronounce, and I used to breastfeed them any time, any place, anywhere - done discreetly, no-one stares.

  • This made me laugh my butt off! Greatness, mamas, greatness! Love nursing my now 23 month kiddo and wouldn't change a thing I've done!

  • "It's just a bit of fun" - one of the most damaging sentences in common circulation.

    Jus' sayin'.

  • @bekkyshambles Does it offend you that the woman actually enjoy feeding their kids in a natural manner?

  • @1notyourmum1 Why are you asking me that? You think that because I said "It's just a bit of fun" is a damaging sentiment, that I have something against breastfeeding?! How childish.

  • @bekkyshambles I simply asked you to simplify, what is so damaging?

  • @1notyourmum1 It was an accusatory statement, entirely unrelated to my point. I do not find breastfeeding offensive. I do, however, find it offensive that you think saying something is "just a bit of fun" alleviates you from any responsibility you have in regards to to responding to people who challenge or question you on your content.

  • @bekkyshambles You might want to scroll up, I never said "It's just a bit of fun".

  • @1notyourmum1 The only comment I made, which you replied to, is that "It's just a bit of fun" is a ridiculous and dismissive remark. Why did you respond to me asking if I found breastfeeding offensive? I'm pretty much at the point now where I can't tell if you're trolling me or not. I hate to call people stupid but I'm honestly starting to get to that stage with you. Either make a cohesive point or quit spamming my inbox.

  • @bekkyshambles Okay, cohesive point. You responded to the video's notes that it was 'just a bit of fun' as being a ridiculous and dismissive remark. Either you really hate that phrase and make sure that your vitrol is known far and wide about it in general, or you were speaking to the video in question. You know, the one where the women are breastfeeding.

  • @bekkyshambles So, I asked you if it (the breastfeeding) offended you. You, apparently unable to answer 'yes' or 'no', called me childish. I again asked you to simply clarify. You were again apparently unable to do so. You have yet to actually answer the question as to whether this 'bit of fun' was offensive, or you simply find issue with the concept of fun itself.

  • @bekkyshambles Either way, I do hope one day you can get the Redwood removed from your posterior, and enjoy YouTube, and indeed all bits of fun, again.

  • Fantabulous. I wish I'd been one of the dancers. I love a bit of corset. :-)

  • Well done Virginia and crew! We all love the video on Mama Packs, it's FUN!! xxx

  • Love it!

  • I agree that nobody moans about formula. We are lucky that a substitute has been provided although we are informed its obviously a less adequate product compared to breast milk. I can see the passion thats gone into making this and love the fun thats being had dancing with the babies. I would like to point I am pro breast feeding cannot imagine not doing it again just wanted to state that sadly it's not possible for everyone.

  • its just a bit of fun no-one is saying anything other than that. No one get upset over formula adverts on TV every night and they make millions please take it the way it was meant.... light hearted and fun. The mums put a lot of effort into doing something good.

  • I loved breastfeeding my baby and plan to do this with my next IF I can! Everyone knows that breast is best providing you can feed your baby. Having breasts does not mean you can feed your baby. I have known many mums that desperately wanted to feed their babies but their bodies have let them down or their babies haven't been able to latch on.

  • @eMskiMe What exactly was sexual about the breastfeeding? The fact that they were in corsets? The fact that they were dancing with their babies? I saw nothing 'sexual' about it, just kids having nutrition. Please clarify.

  • @1notyourmum1 I just dont see what burlesque, which is associated with striptease has to do with breastfeeding. Why juxtapose the two? I didnt meant to offend but I do find it abit wtf.

  • @eMskiMe No offense taken, I appreciate your polite tone. I think of it not as juxtaposition, but rather a hook. The burlesque gets you watching (because oogling women's breasts is apparently perfectly natural) to remind you with the lyrics that breastfeeding is *actually* perfectly natural. It comes (I believe) from people sick of women having huge silicone pads placed in their breasts and being seen as normal, but when a woman chooses to feed her child, that is seen as weird or gross.

  • @1notyourmum1 I couldn't actually hear the lyrics well, so I missed that message. The video made me feel like breastfeeding was something that was for people who like to show off, rather then the average mum to be. I understand that isnt the point of the video, but its the impression it gave me. I know sex sells but it doesnt have to. Im not the most articulate person, so I hope the above makes sense.

  • @eMskiMe Totally understand you, no worries! For me (being a breastfeeding mum myself), it felt more like "While there are 1000 names for my breasts in an effort to objectify them, they actually have a pretty amazing purpose, and that is to sustain my child". But it's cool, we just have different perspectives.

  • The cows to get the message across that this is where formula comes from

  • Why the cows though?!?

  • this is superb, such good promotion for breastfeeding!

  • I would love to be able to read the words as I can't hear them all.

  • @Fit2Bust After the main video and the credits there is Brian who goes through the whole song holding up the cards in full frame- you should be able to read them :)

  • @MyBirthTV Lyrics are on the info now :-)

  • @Fit2Bust

The Lyrics are all on the more info bit underneath the video as well, hth, xxx

  • Brilliant - Virginia, I can't think of any other midwife who'd have done this with such style. Baby Tommy has been dancing to it!

  • This is way more fun than most people have! Breasts and breastfeeding! YES.
