Count me in as a Betty fan, too. Would love to have seen her paired up with Archie more often in these cartoons. Loved the rivalry they had going in the comics--especially during the summer issues when they competed for Archie's attention at the beach! Too bad there were no swimsuit shots in these cartoons (at least, not that I can remember.)
@wainoco318 "The Archie Show" had one segment where the gang was at the beach, and the boys were in a surfing contest. All of them wore swimsuits in that segment.
I'm diggin' Veronica on the Hammond organ. Makes me wanna do more than dance: Wanna go grab a couple of boxes of Frosted Sugar Bombs, pour 'em into a giant bowl so me an my brother can find the prizes real quick, then add some sugar and milk while we blitz ourselves watchin' our cartoons. Damn, maybe with all that sugar and the flashing cartoon lights, we kids were trippin' out during the '60's and '70's too lol
Hoo boy, this brings me back. I first heard this song circa 1969; I had a small record of it--the record was cut off the back of a cereal box--no lie!! I still have it somewhere or other (I hope).
I agree. Betty is a great character in the Archie cartoons. Too bad Filmation didn't adopt all of Betty's persona. I remember in an Archie's Funhouse segment, they had Betty & Veronica trying to cook Birthday Broccoli Surprise, without much success. It was evident that the girls didn't know how to cook. Now, we know from the comic books that Betty is an excellent cook, so some of the cartoon writers took a few character liberties now and then.
@windsorbear I agree with you about Betty and the same thing could be said of Josie as well, as in she WAS too nice or passive in dealing with Alexandra on the show at least.
@dh1173 While I love Hanna-Barbera's interpretation of "Josie & The Pussycats", they really made Josie a dull character on the show. In fact, it was like everyone else except her had "spotlight" segments in the shows... mostly Alexandra.
@windsorbear Josie & The Pussycats are in my top fav cartoons of all-time along with The Archies!! I had to re-familarize myself with Sabrina via dvd to wash the 90's version away. Why the put Josie in Outer Space with that TERRIBLE Austrailian animation was so unnecessary IMHO!
Hey.... nothing wrong with being 12 again. For me, in 1968, it would mean being 7 again... which would be fine with me. But only if I can travel back to 1968 to do it.... and only if I can take a VCR with me!!!!
love them...comics...

The late Howard Morris who was Ernest T. Bass on the Andy Griifth Show from 1960-1968 was the voice of Jughead and Dilton Doiley.

Veronica did her own dance - The Veronica Walk.
Did Reggie ever do his own dance of the week?
heine71 2 years ago 3
Nope. And neither did Archie. By the way, "The Veronica Walk" and "The Jughead" will be uploaded next week.
windsorbear 2 years ago
I know Archie did the Stickshift, Miss Grundy did the Grundy, and there was the Banana Split and Touchdown with Archie/Reggie/Veronica/Betty.
Also: Jughead did the most dances. Hot Dog helped with the Beanie dance.
heine71 2 years ago
@heine71 the Touchdown was Archie partnered Veronica and Jughead partnered Betty. The Banana Split was Archie/Reggie/Veronica/Betty

@windsorbear veronica was very notoriously inept at cooking according to the comics.

You know, I had never made that connection before, but you are right... the intro to "The Betty" does sound like the intro to "Wooly Bully".
