  • Jolies les nuances de violet au bout des arcs électriques!

  • About how much do these cost, and where can I order one? :P I'd love to start a collection.

  • @7thsinMoo Its an experimental mixture and not for sale. Wayne Strattman in Boston (Strattman-dot-com)and a company called Information Unlimited in NJ (amazing1-dot-com) sell 12 inch filled plasma globes in various colors. Smaller, mass-produced plasma globes show up on eBay all the time.

  • Pretty! Seriously these things are the coolest things known to man.

  • can i have a link to this exact song in the vid?

  • @pikmin24 I don't know how to do that. Go to Amazon.com MP3 music downloads and look under Enya for the song name.

  • hey is there any online shop where i could by a colored plasmaball? i only find violet center blue lightnings and pink dots on the glass....but i'd love to have one that is completely white or completely blue or like this one in this video... or is there a possibility to buy gas and built one by myself :D please answer and sorry for my englisch ... 5 stars ;)

  • Whoa awesome color. Has nice tendrils too. How many of these globes do you have? Looks like you have a very nice collection.

  • @trueblu8 Thank you. The gold and orange is an accidental mixture that was supposed to be bright pink and orange. I have about two dozen of the large globes, plus eight more test globes with refill valves installed so I can change the mixture if the gas wears out or I get tired of the colors.

  • @StandingWulf Care to donate one to me my friend? ;)

  • what color would nitrogen be

  • Pure nitrogen plasma ( at 40 khz) shows up as a pale pink-purple color, but it's electrical resistance is so high it inhibits plasma arcs in a plasma globe and it can only be used as a minor ingredient with other gases. Even rose-pink air plasma looks better than pure nitrogen.

  • what gases did you use, i am planning to contact wayne strattman for this globe

  • I used neon, argon, nitrogen, xenon, and iodine vapor.

  • Helium is a fleshy pink color in plasma arcs that sometimes creates a diffuse yellow luminosity.

  • Diatomic Iodine vapor conc. at room temp is ~400ppm at 25 deg. C. and is purple from ABSORBED light. IONIZED Iodine ATOMS IN PLASMA under energetic conditions found inside my radio-frequency-excited globes combine with noble gases and form excited diatomic species that EMIT yellow and orange light. The plasma globe environment is VERY different than what we are used to seeing in Chemistry class, the iodine conc. is only about 10 ppm, and is only present as a highly-diluted catalyst.

  • Better Then My Plasma Ball! Impressive!!!! Maybe it is Neon And Helium?

  • It contains mostly neon, with a little bit of argon, nitrogen, xenon, and iodine in it, but no helium.

  • Howcome Iodine?!

  • Iodine is used in noble gas and halogen-filled light bulbs to increase their brightness, and iodine has enhanced the colors in some of my other plasma globe mixes. Of all the halogens I could use, iodine is also the least toxic and easiest to work with because it is a volatile solid

  • Iodine is Toxic,Volatile And Has a purple Vapour So Wheres The Iodine? Iodine is Purple.

  • Reply Part 2: Iodine vapor at only 10 ppm in a noble gas mixture is not detectable by the human eye. It looks completely clear under normal illumination. There just isn't enough of it present for the typical color to be visible. The purple tint only starts to appear when iodine conc, is around 100 ppm or higher in a gas mix.

  • OK I Understand But Where Is the Extra Electron for Iodine. Noble Gases Are Full Or Iodine Loses an Electron.

  • Plasma is IONIZED gas.The iodine and noble gas atoms are ionized with 15-20 kilovolts of radio frequency alternating current provided by the single electrode capacitative emitter in the core of the globe.. Extra electrons are temporarily provided when the globe is energized, and all atoms return to normal when the power is switched off. If you have more questions please switch t the YouTube message service.

  • Oz6102, iodine vapor in a clear glass bottle with iodine crystals at room temp or warmer looks purple. the purple you see in the plasma globe is the nitrogen/argon. if you have any more questions please contact me through the youtube message system

  • what color would helium be

  • AWESOME! Very impressive.

  • I'm very happy to see that you were able to produce such a vivid Gold color - I've seen orange but not shades of yellow in a plasma globe. That's an amazing result you managed to get there! Very impressive!
