Oh wow, yet another flawed hero bucking the system. The stories are simply warmed-over “ER” and I was only about 20 minutes into an episode when I started realizing that Mary Richards was flawed – but in an original way. NJ just wants broken-down viewers to feel noble when they steal from work. Yawn.

The character (Edie) reminds me of my own mother. Shes still a nurse and she has been stuggling with a huge alcohol problem. Now shes clean :) but man those days were realy something... Its still a mystery to me how she ever did that over the years. Alcohol was her drug.

House IS garbage. Also ER - I've seen them intubate patients UPSIDE DOWN on that show. It's nice to see nursing represented more realistically in the media (other than stealing drugs, of course) as a highly autonomous and educated profession. I can guarantee you if you have ever been in the hospital it's pretty likely your nurse saved your ass at least once - either from an untoward event or the stupidity of your doctor - without you having any idea.

Nurses rarely end up doing drugs, in fact they are the most level headed ones in a hospital. They usually have normal lives compared to doctors, and they never take their work to thier homes unlike doctors, so I don't get why this character is "real". The show seems cool, might watch it. I do have to state that she's a cross between house and glee's sue sylvester the cheer coach

Ok, so after a few i got to care for the characters. They are interesting, and plain. I loved the lupus patient wink at House, in that one episode.

So, Jacks isn't House, which runs more like a suspenseful mystery, it's like... it covers what House doesn't, the boring common-day human stuff. But the plain, this well chosen cast creates, is more than watchable.

They should do a crossover, House goes to Jackie's hospital for a consult and hilarity ensues.

Oh, and Edie's got Edward Norton eyes.

This show is amazing and I think I am hard to impress [and man that cheesy voice-over is annoying]. I was a huge Sopranos fan, and wanted to like Falco in this. I don't think she dissappoints. I don't think the show advocates drugs at all.The point is that humans are flawed deeply, despite their genuine desire to do good - this is her character.

I think this show was with the intention of paying more attention to nurses since only doctors are considered important at hospitals. It was a good idea but a bad copy of a great tv series.

Nurse Jackie is maybe the most complex TV character, I've ever seen from any TV show ever.

I did not think I would like this show, but I gave it a chance, and it's now a favorite.

Unless you've actually watched it descriptions give it no justice. It's perhaps the most realistic TV I've every watched, that still interesting , shocking, and funny.

It's actually nothing like House MD at all. House is very formulaic, and follows the same pattern.

This show is only a half hour, and each episode is very different. The characters all around are much more realistic, than any 1 character from House.
