@audiotrax2000 From "HMS Donovan" double album 1971. Was available on CD. There is a fantastically whimsical musical adaptation of "The Walrus and the Carpenter" (and other great cuts) on that album as well.
I'm a teenager and this is one of my favorite poems (yes, I actually read) and this is one of my favorite musicians (my generation doesn't even have real music) doing a lovely to-song version of it, it's absolutely magical. Thank you for uploading this. Beautiful illustrations as well, thank you for them, very very nice. This is pure magic. :)
Please don't be offended, this isn't personal but under every Donovan video I've watched today I found a comment like this and by now I am a little irritated. Those who read books and listen to music like this might not be the majority of our generation but it doesn't really make you that special either. And, most importantly, WE DO HAVE REAL MUSIC. It might be a littel harder to find but it is there.
When i was young i danced with a girl...at first she was a silver trout...then she became a glimmering girl...i got scared and ran away...i thought i had seen a ghost...
Thanks for posting this. Not to be too picky, but the artists name is Donovan Phillips Leitch. He has, professionally, gone by just his first name (like Cher and Madonna).
Side-by-side with Frost's "Promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep", "Silver apples of the moon, golden apples of the sun" have got to be the greatest metaphorical lines in literary and poetic history.
I didn't know that the music of angelo's version was written by Donovan. This info is probably on the CD, I just never noticed.... or I forgot :-) very nice Mik
Am - G - C down to Em7 to Dm then back to C down to Am. Repeat.

This is SO beautiful, and it matches the renderings perfectly. When was this timeless gem recorded?

Beautiful. Amazing poem. I might recommend Bud and Travis' version, as well.

@donald1701 And did it way before they did, right Donald? Even Cher was "Sonny & Cher" for a long time.
