  • The best space sim ever. Great action, excellent pace, had you by the toes on some missions, and drama, a good storyline, excellent soundtrack. Played it years after release, and still the effects were good. Capital ships had that massive feel in them and fights between them glorious. A bit biased opinion, but of all space combat games, this one was the best.

  • They dont make games like this any more. All we get now is dumbed down console crap, for max price with minimal replayability.

  • I Shivan saw this video.

  • this is quake 4 noob :))

  • Freespace 2 is possibly one of the best underrated game of all times. An exact opposite of the Halo series.

  • Alpha One. Slaughtering genocidal alien invaders before Master Chief was even a squirt.

  • Freespace created the foundation for, Homeworld, SoSE, and EVE Online.

  • Freespace 2 Forever!

  • hm that is slow version !

  • Alpha One > all

  • @Styroplank alpha one is overpowered.

  • @henryhenriquez Alpha one isn't overpowered. did you play that game on higher difficulty than easy???

  • @HlavatejCZ yes... and tornado were OP ^^ so were kaiser ^^

  • Alpha One rules

  • what game is the picture from, is that freespace?

  • The song is from Freespace 2. The picture is from the opening of Quake 4.

  • LOLOLOL i love this music

  • OMINOUS

    LATIN

    CHANTING

    *star goes supernova*

  • omg i died 1 meter from jumping no!!!!!!!! thats what i would say when mine ship gets hit asuming i live long enough to say it lol

  • A lot of old games are really awesome. They'd be even better if the companies updated them to today's graphics. If they made a Freespace 3, I think a lot of us would look up to it :)

  • err... no.

You know what happens to many games if they get a third part?^^ they suck^^

Freespace 2 is good enough, there are thousands of mods and graphical updates^^ no FS3 needed^^

  • There are enough unanswered questions in several 1st generation games to be enough for a decent sequel. Mods certainly don't answer any questions we have, like what happened to Admiral Bosch, and graphical updates are only enough to add detail to what exists already. A Freespace 3 would be able to upgrade graphics, and provide answers.

Not all games can be applied to a third generation, as the second generation answered most of the conflict in the first, as you stated Leon.

  • Good argument.

But some secret's should stay in the "nebula", if you know what I mean...

although I personally would like some answers^^

  • If you looked in some other videos, a lot of people speculate on whether or not a Freespace 3 will exist, and I'm sure that many of us hate attempting to guess out endings. :(

True, that some games are meant to stay in shadows, but Freespace 2 is fairly old, don't you think it's time that we get those questions answered?

  • I won't. Because Interplay owns the rights to the Freespace series and the developer of the series, Volition, is now owned by its rival THQ. This means that Volition can't ever make Freespace 3, so it would unavoidably suck. :)

  • Freespace 1 and 2 are the best games of that fighterpilot simulation era...

not as crappy missions as in Wing commander (why the hell do 4 times 3 fighter jump into the system instead of 1 times 12...?)

or the tie fighter series, where you can easily destroy capital ships by exploiting their dead angles...

i love Freespace 1 and 2, even if the story telling is far from modern with great looking videos (as WC had that time)

  • FreeSpace 2 still gives me shivers

  • Somehow, whenever I listen to this, I first get the image of a giant, dark ship passing by a planet, then e giant space battle and after that a slow fly-by of the destroyed ships ... epic!

  • This pic is from the Quake 4 intro.

  • I know 1 thing: these Ships aren't from Freespace, at least not from the original one. But I love dis Game. Thx for uploadin'

  • what are those ships in the picture called, and where are they from?

  • Players are idiots becouse of underrating this godly game. This should be considered as one of the greatest game ever. And its not...

  • Gamespot conisiders it one of the "Greatest Games of All Time." FreeSpace 2 was liked by critics, but Interplay was stupid and didn't advertise it at all. As a result, Interplay went bankrupt, and the SCP started.

  • Which is both good and bad, depending on how you look at it.

  • @Eglab just blame the original advertising...FS2 didnt get the media hype FS1 did (at least from what I read)

but I agree...as space combat games go....this is my all-time fave as well

  • The first time I ever played through the game and listened to this music 10 years ago, I cried. It's an absolute masterpiece, and the voice acting of Admiral Petrach is more than just the icing on the cake. Trully a defining, yet unnoticed moment in the history of video games...

  • Me luvz FS2, even tough it's almost 10 years old I still play it since 1999 XD tracks are coolio

  • Yeah, Optimus is right. But i don't mind, since its the best track in the game for me. Well that and the DIVE DIVE DIVE HIT THE BURNERS PILOTS! thing... :)

  • You're right. But it is simply the 'end' track, so it's just fitting..

  • nice but isn't that actually the music when the Sathanus juggernauts destroy the capella star?
