@fordfran Just to let you know it runs perfectly. All required drivers are available, performance is better than the vista home basic that came with the machine and I am very happy with it.
XP 64bit wasn't too bad but just not as stable and having to run anti virus took the piss. Also only on Linux does HD streaming seem to work completely smoothly.
I know for sure you can play wow. It runs nice and smooth but come with a 2 slot ram drive and cam hold up to 4 gigs of ram so prob the best thing is to buy ram with ot and you will be flying! :)
lol graphic sux on it.i own 1 too.and i regret buying it:S .very slow with its core 2 duo, firewire cable not there as well.u cant play good games!!! i mean like say games with good graphic( not excellent) or huge universe like gta
Way bad for Linux, the new Linux kernel has IRQ issues with this laptop making the keyboard and mouse 80% not work on bootup. It drives me insane. I am not alone...
Actually I found a fix with the help of others, on grub when loading(or w/e the boot manager is) on the kernel, the Linux kernel press e(on grub to edit it) and add i8042.reset it fixes it. However, every time you switch kernels, you have to deal with this. It's anoyying, but not unbearable.
I'm not a looser :) I mean that he said about obvious features and did not said about virtues or cons. I expext to lern something more than dimension or screen size. ok?
Sorry... for my english ;) I read it cerfuly once again and You did not call me looser. By the way I bought that laptop (with Vista) for my mum with extra 3gb ram and for bussines aplication and internet it is very good laptop. I have Lenovo and I don't complain either.
No biggie, dongle you mean external usb bluetooth, no im using the built in one. Yeah the 360 module or something try install it it should be ok. Hm.. maybe i should try working for Dell maybe hehe..?
They FAIL to say that the CPU fan on these newer Vostro laptops are NOT dynamically controlled meaning the fan turns on and off at full speed. Its loud and very annoying.
i this problm oso with my dell studio, its a built in bluetooth but doesnt work but no biggie just go 2 dell webst, click support then fill in your laptop details. dwlod bluetooth driver, install and yur ready 2 go.
well i have downloaded driver for my wi-fi .. but still it isnt working .. my wlan is working properly ... but i dun know which 1 to download for blue tooth .. :S plz help ..
normally dell laptop comes in many configuration which i dont know yours but you just fill in your service tag and dell will auto detect if your laptop has buit in bluetot or not. You click at the network and youll see bluetooth or wifi driver download there if it comes with it.
What a terrible review. All you did was talk about options and barely examined the laptop. For most of the video you just showed it sitting on a table. 90% of what I learned in this video review I could have read, this negating the point of even having a video review.
i might buy on of these in the future. The main problem i have on my current laptop is the fan noise. How much noise does the fan for this laptop make? is it silent?
Due to not fixable DPC latency issues (google "Dell DPC latency), this piece of crap can't play music without stutters, pops and clicks when the WLAN is on. The build quality is incredible low. The base flexes almost as much as the display. Mine came bent and with a broken USB port from Poland. Not at least it is pretty loud after a while. Went through 2 months of Dell hell where the support (NBD support my ass) didn't work at all. Worst build notebook I've seen so far.
I'm going to guess that you got a bad egg here mate. All of the reviews that I have read have said none of the things that you've said, and have only had praise for the 1310. Not trying to start an arguement, but maybe you were just unlucky.
Well I've read all the reviews too, that's why I bought it! :) If you search for it, you will find many complaints about the audio issues for all current Dells, including the Vostro xx10. After all the trouble, a Dell employee had to *admit* that they know about this and they won't do anything about it. Maybe I (and many other ppl) had a bad egg, but that's not the point. They said they can't give me a good egg after 2 months of procrastination and ignoring the issue. Never trust reviews...
Mate I want to see how fast it is, I want to see how well Linux runs on it and how compatible it is, I want to see how good wireless reception is not you stood jaffin on about it with it just sat there.
Sorry but your presentation isn't really up to speed for a commercial website behind it. Static camera and yadayadayada is what all the 13yr old weird kids do here too.
This little guy looks very nice, i've recently bought one, the design is actually quite attractive, the glossy lid is nice, and the chassis doesn't flex that much. And with a 250 GB Hdd, 2 Ghz core 2 duo, 2 Gigs of RAM and an 8400GS, it packs quite a punch for its size and price. Too bad mine came standard with a defective motherboard :|. It's in service, waiting to be repaired. (On the bright side, it does have a 3 year warranty :) ).
These laptops don't have 8600 GT cards, rather a much, much weaker 8400M GS. Something 3x better than a sh*tty overclocked Radeon 9200. That's a pretty pathetic GPU. Laptops aren't meant for gaming.
The design looks a bit on the cheap side, but I've seen worse, like those old Texas Instrument notebooks. The specs are okay, but it would cost a lot to pimp it out so I could use it.
I don't like the design. It looks cheap and nasty. I've just ordered a Vostro 1500 with a 8600 GT nVidia 256MB card in it. I'm not cancelling my order to swap to the 1510.
It`s shitt.

vostro vs inspiron anyone can sort that out for me?
BR177 2 years ago
inspiron wins lol
Kes19913 2 years ago
vostro is aimed towards small biz. so it has a more pro look, a biz OS and more advanced graphic solutions.
the inspiron it aimed towards household use. so it comes in many different colors, and that is about it
i would reccomend vostro because it can have faster CPUs and GPUs
brodypros 2 years ago
@BR177 Inspiron wins for me the vostro is designed for business and the build quality is not great.

Is the headphone sound effected by this flaw?
bmp713 3 years ago
Sure. The DPC spikes of the WLAN cause the audio driver to drop out for a few milliseconds and hence everything that's connected to it.
