@applesweeter well for one that was during the time when the jet age was being ushered in, not to mention the arms and technology race was in full steam, new technologies and ideas were more than welcome at the time. the advent of jet airliners (as seen in the development of the 707 and the dc-8) helped more people to get to farther places in faster time. thats why many major airports around the world were built around this time, as more traffic and people needed to be accommodated better
