Im not an american but the only issue on the subject is that why are people going to buy weed when you can get it cheaper from a dealer, just like hope people buy chop chop, but then again if you don't tax it when people have issues from the drug and have 2 go into hospital it costs the government ,only because they are not going to turn down someone's life.

On top of my last comment, I think they should just automatically send people caught smoking it out of the country, it would be a lot cheaper than keeping them in jail, the only problem would be finding a place to keep them. Also if they keep pot in the gas stations with the cigarettes, it will probably cause more robberies of those stores that carry them. This is America, people do stuff, especially in bad cities.
If humans could control their urges, and not drive while high, which will never happen because if you look at all of the people who either smoke or drink while they drive, chances of that are very slim. Also pot is a gateway drug and there is i high chance that people will get addicted to stronger stuff. Also pot has all of the bad effects of cigarettes including secondhand smoke and more. There is no way that is should be legalized, and i am very disappointed that Minnesota has legalized it.

I doubt that you have been using the same amount as you were when you started using it, I.E. increasing the amount would also be increasing the strength to would it not. @StonersBrothers The reason the amount increases is because the body gets used to what ever drug, even prescription drugs, it is using, that is why after a while a doctor will increase the dosage of whatever they are giving you. Same thing with illegal drugs. the reason people move on to the harder stuff is because they have gotten used to weed. and for the love of god, weed is not this safe drug where if you use it, nothing will ever happen to you

@92ASC first off, they are medical facts that people need stronger stuff after a while of using any drugs, including prescription drugs. the body gets used to it and needs more to do the same thing.

@LAGUNA76229 I personally have been smoking for about 5 months and yes while people can develop a tolerance, I don't find myself "craving" more or anything like that. Plus, I don't always smoke just because I want to get high. One of the main reasons I smoke is to help me sleep. I'm also not a pothead either. I have gone weeks on end without a single toke and have never felt any withdrawal symptoms.
I also have a lot of friends who have smoked since highschool and never moved onto "hard" drugs
here in belgium, i think the highest thing they'll do if you smoked it or grow like 2-5 plants, they'll give you comunity service and a ticket, but if you have a big plantage with alot of plants, you'll go to jail to

@92ASC both are bad, but pot is way worse to the user, as well as others who breath in the second hand smoke, if it is in joint form, just like cigarettes. alcohol is less bad to the user, if they do not get alcohol poisoning, I.E. causes less diseases, but is easier to overdose because it is stronger. However, it is really only bad to other people if you are driving. otherwise, it is less deadly. but this is not why one is legal while the other is not.

You said it yourself, you can get alcohol poisoning, but it is physically impossible to overdose on weed. And FYI, marijuana smoke is FAR less harmful than cigarette smoke. @92ASC Pot contains all of the cancer causing compounds as tobacco, usually in high concentrations, which makes it just as deadly as tobacco, even though it is not as addictive. i actually know much more about tobacco because i am not going of the media story of it(media distorts things), i am going of the medical story of it. although weed is no as dangerous as other drugs, it should be illegal beause it dose a lot more harm than people like you know
@LAGUNA76229 Yes pot does have carcinogens in it, but so does anything that is burned. Weed also isn't processed with many other types of cancerous compounds(including radioactive materials) like tobacco is. But have you ever heard of a vaporizer? It basically bakes(not burns) weed at anywhere from 350-400ºF, so any of the ill effects from smoking(burning) are virtually reduced to nothing.
And again, please back up your statements about "diseases" caused with HARD evidence, not "suggested" bs

@simzslayer5 Getting high and getting drunk are two totally different things. When I'm drunk, I lack the ability to balance or do much of anything really. When I'm high, unless I'm just utterly blitzed (which takes a high quality method of intake with large quantity if you're an erryday kind of smoker) I don't have problems with it in that regard. Instead, it changes how I perceive time which isn't great, but isn't as detrimental as not being even half as aware of what I'm doing.
Marijuana has a very small affect on the brain but its nothing compared to what crack, meth and other more potent drugs do, but i do agree with you smoking tobacoo does more damage then weed

On top of my last comment, I think they should just automatically send people caught smoking it out of the country, it would be a lot cheaper than keeping them in jail, the only problem would be finding a place to keep them. Also if they keep pot in the gas stations with the cigarettes, it will probably cause more robberies of those stores that carry them. This is America, people do stuff, especially in bad cities.

If humans could control their urges, and not drive while high, which will never happen because if you look at all of the people who either smoke or drink while they drive, chances of that are very slim. Also pot is a gateway drug and there is i high chance that people will get addicted to stronger stuff. Also pot has all of the bad effects of cigarettes including secondhand smoke and more. There is no way that is should be legalized, and i am very disappointed that Minnesota has legalized it.

@StonersBrothers That is why I said "high chance," I know there are people that don't go on to stronger stuff, but the majority of them do. Stronger stuff could also consist of more pot as well. I doubt that you have been using the same amount as you were when you started using it, I.E. increasing the amount would also be increasing the strength to would it not. And thats funny, because whenever I see or hear about someone doing any drugs, including cigarettes, I almost puke.

@StonersBrothers The reason the amount increases is because the body gets used to what ever drug, even prescription drugs, it is using, that is why after a while a doctor will increase the dosage of whatever they are giving you. Same thing with illegal drugs. the reason people move on to the harder stuff is because they have gotten used to weed. and for the love of god, weed is not this safe drug where if you use it, nothing will ever happen to you

Even if that was true(which it isn't), it's still the person's choice to move on to harder drugs.

@92ASC first off, they are medical facts that people need stronger stuff after a while of using any drugs, including prescription drugs. the body gets used to it and needs more to do the same thing.
same thing with weed. i doubt that you have been using the same amount of weed as you were when you first started using it, I.E. increasing the amount would be increasing the strength. plus, when weed isn't enough, what will you go onto then.

@LAGUNA76229 I personally have been smoking for about 5 months and yes while people can develop a tolerance, I don't find myself "craving" more or anything like that. Plus, I don't always smoke just because I want to get high. One of the main reasons I smoke is to help me sleep. I'm also not a pothead either. I have gone weeks on end without a single toke and have never felt any withdrawal symptoms.
I also have a lot of friends who have smoked since highschool and never moved onto "hard" drugs

you are absolutely right jon, have the government regulate it. make it legal to grow your own weed BUT you have to buy a special growing permit. sell it in stores right next to the cigs and beer tax the piss out of it. the government would make a ton of money but they dont want americans to enjoy themselves.it would still be illegal to drive under the influence but the government would still make a shitload of cash!!

@92ASC both are bad, but pot is way worse to the user, as well as others who breath in the second hand smoke, if it is in joint form, just like cigarettes. alcohol is less bad to the user, if they do not get alcohol poisoning, I.E. causes less diseases, but is easier to overdose because it is stronger. However, it is really only bad to other people if you are driving. otherwise, it is less deadly. but this is not why one is legal while the other is not.

You said it yourself, you can get alcohol poisoning, but it is physically impossible to overdose on weed. And FYI, marijuana smoke is FAR less harmful than cigarette smoke. Marijuana is also not physically addicting like tobacco(nicotine) and alcohol(genetics).
Do one thing for me, find one instance where someone has died purely from weed. I'm waiting...

@92ASC Pot contains all of the cancer causing compounds as tobacco, usually in high concentrations, which makes it just as deadly as tobacco, even though it is not as addictive. i actually know much more about tobacco because i am not going of the media story of it(media distorts things), i am going of the medical story of it. although weed is no as dangerous as other drugs, it should be illegal beause it dose a lot more harm than people like you know

@LAGUNA76229 Yes pot does have carcinogens in it, but so does anything that is burned. Weed also isn't processed with many other types of cancerous compounds(including radioactive materials) like tobacco is. But have you ever heard of a vaporizer? It basically bakes(not burns) weed at anywhere from 350-400ºF, so any of the ill effects from smoking(burning) are virtually reduced to nothing.
And again, please back up your statements about "diseases" caused with HARD evidence, not "suggested" bs

first of all: i agree.
But see this: if it's legal we'll have the following things:
- registration of every fucking joint you buy (disadvantage in jobsearch)
- marketing will get a new concept ->
- reducing the smokers to a new target group
- some guys will sell it like fast-food, that destroys the origin (meditation?)
- easier for kids to get it (!!!)
- it will get really strong, so you can't really relax anymore cus it's too hard

All health issues aside the biggest reason its not legalized is it would take money out of the pockets of the privileged since the seize real property's cars boats farms homes etc and auction them off most of thees actions are only open to gov imployees so that gov officials profit from it there by legalizing it would take that away from them why would they shoot themselves in the foot like that.

Im now 32 years old and tottaly fit. marijuana prevented me to slip into harder drug scenes or let my self loose in alcohol. at the end im happy when im rollin my joint in the evening, to relax from a hard day of work. its a pitty that this lifestyle of mine is illegal.

@thosekids1000 Ok so you can smoke weed 50:50 with baccy and it is worse for you than a Fag but with Pot you usualy smoke it less often than A person would smoke fags. smokers i know have about 5-10 fags a day where as pot smokers smoke maybye a spliff a day or less. :/ you have to weigh up all the points. also if you do smoke it with baccy and dont like the idea of tar you can have it via a vaporisor

Marijuana could potentially cause the same problems as alcohol in my opinion. if you legalize it then i guarantee that some idiot is gonna get stones and hit somebody with his car JUST THE SAME as if he was drunk. the only reason it has been relatively harmless is because people are afraid of getting arrested so they do it in secret.

@simzslayer5 Getting high and getting drunk are two totally different things. When I'm drunk, I lack the ability to balance or do much of anything really. When I'm high, unless I'm just utterly blitzed (which takes a high quality method of intake with large quantity if you're an erryday kind of smoker) I don't have problems with it in that regard. Instead, it changes how I perceive time which isn't great, but isn't as detrimental as not being even half as aware of what I'm doing.

I used marijuana when I had Lyme disease. It didn't help the physical pain as much as it helped me psychologically deal with my horrid situation.
