hey wuts up. i i have a cai and i noticed that the water that gets in through the crack of the hood is water that leaks on the air filter. have you noticed anything like that?
how much horses does this add anyway? cuz im lookn to buy this for my 06 tc that and strut and sway bars and the trd brake kit im lookn at about almost 2gs...
hi i wana get a trd intake for my new scion tc 2010 will i have to take it to the dealership and have them install it so that it doesnt void my warranty?
does your car pass inspection with the cai? cuz ive been seeing all this stuff about carb approved, emissions, and for off road use only, and what not lol jw, before i go out and buy this...
No not really. It's just very time consuming. Set aside at least 2-3 hours. There are a LOT of steps required to remove the stock air box and finally install the CAI. Just make sure to have a lot of time.
realy? when i put in my injen intake, i just took a phillips head and loosed the metal clamps and just yanked the whole thing out. the air box is the toughest part, but taht didn't take me any more than 10 minutes. I'm not sure how the TRD intake is setup, but pulling my intake infront of the wheel was the toughest part, it just didn't want to go in easily.
haha no crap it took me forever to install my cai.. i took over 3 hours jus caus i didnt want to screw anything up.. ended up taking the front bumper off too.. not fun
@jediado Really? It only took me about 1 1/2 hrs. Never had installed one before either. Only like 4 clamps, 5 bolts and 5 screws hold it all on.....Then reclamping the C/A/I
I just installed my TRD last sunday ITS AWESOME noticeable change without a doubt deff more power obv 3 months old for other ppl i wud look into a cai i have the full one idk bout the short ram btr airflow if u go all the way
You'd literally to plow through a heavily flooded street in order to get water into your engine. I haven't experienced any problems with my intake. Like I said, you'd have to be a complete idiot to drive through a flooded street to get water up your intake.
nto to mention that little rubber thing that connects his two chrome pipes is a bypass valve... ie: if the filter becomes completely submerged, it breathes from that join instead.
I own a 07 tc with 7k miles.. and got the chance to switch over to a 07 Mustang GT. With fuel costs and everything I'm trying to decide if I should make the switch. Maybe just add the TRD supercharger with the upgraded fuel injectors, headers, exhaust and get a little more power out of it.
I bought it on ebay for $200. Other mods are TRD exhaust, TRD rear sway bar. Saving up for new wheels and tires, got 16 inch steel wheels w/hubcaps >:|
Thanks bro,im looking into getting a scion tc probably a used one not sure what year, but theres lots of things can be done, just overall a nice sporty lookin car......what year is yours
It's an '08. Got it back in December. I would definitely recommend getting an intake and exhaust. Great increase in power and gas mileage. I fill up once every 2 weeks. Once I got those 2 mods, I saw a change in my gas mileage instantly.
when did you buy the intake? Did you get it from a Scion Dealership? and Is it the AEM intake with a TRD Logo over it (AEM intake is displayed on the Scion Website) ?
Yeah I did. I didn't notice it the second I started the car..but once I got the RPMs higher I noticed it had a bit more gains to it. Not like "HOLY CRAP!!!!!" but enough to notice.
Hey did it came with the trd emission sticker label

stupid question: when do you have to replace the filter on the CAI? The same as you would on a normal filter box?

Installing the part yourself won't void the warranty. It's pretty easy to do yourself.

hey can u tell m eif u lost any torque form th eexhaust and intake thanks

nope
jediado 3 years ago
TRD vs. Injen.
I pretty much have to get TRD so the dealership can never blame on problem on the intake.. which shady dealerships will do.
Do you know the power differences between the trd and the ingen?
Also, how does the car feel after the install? More power or about the same or what?
thanks

any problems with urs?

everyone has been makin this big deal about cai's drawing water into your engine and then ur engine hydrolocks
whtever then i rather take advice from someone who owns one
thanks
sk8orhate55 3 years ago
ya...i put a cai in my wrangler...n for u to hydrolock ur engine with it..ud hav to go deep enuf to wer ur stock intake wud hyrdolock anyway
lieutenant671 3 years ago
The CAI on this has a bypass valve that helps with that but it's pretty hard to suck in water anyway.

since u installed this yourself i take it you'll have to take the front left tire off just to clean the filter every now and then?

And did you have to order it?

Between 3-5HP.
Yes I ordered it. I'd suggest looking around, if you buy it from a dealer it'll cost you a lot more.
