Yeah if I remember correctly for the Canadian stunt,Superstar and at least another guy attacked both LeDucs and tied one of them on ropes while the other one was flat on the floor. A classic setup for great drama effect. It happened earlier than this one here.
That clip with Lawler was when his hip popped out of place. In Lawler's autobiography, he said promoter Eddie Marlin came up and said, "That looked GREAT! Don't get up!" Lawler looked up and said, "Don't worry Eddie, I can't!"
@blaknyte08 If ever there was a more apt description I cannot find it. Lawler and Heyman's heat over ECW has always been ironic to me because Memphis used extreme violence and sex long before many territories ever did.
oh hell yeah!!! u know i never thought about that point either. heres lawler arguing against ecw and memphis was the catalyst for modern mayhem in pro wrestling. cats were getting piledriven through tables in memphis when most of these wwe cats were a memo in a love letter.
@mamacornettesmoney That's true as well. Gilbert was a fabulous booker himself that I always forget even though he was a major part of wrestling history as well. If he hadn't died so young I just wonder what he could have ended up accomplishing as a mind behind the madness of some promotion (if not going back to Memphis and helping them extend their own life as a promotion a bit longer.)
Lawler and Lance Russel have said to this day that there was a gash in Lawler's leg after that spot that was big enough for Lance to put his pinky finger into.
I once heard this man pulled an 18 wheel truck with his teeth. I believe it.

That test of strength was incredible, and one of those things I don't think a promoter would ever dare do today.

In fact Memphis directly led to the creation of ECW.
1) Jerry Jarrett used the Tupelo concession stand brawls to spike houses and he'd book wild brawls on every show.
2) Rookie Atsushi Onita took notice of this while he was in Memphis learning his craft.
3) Onita returns to Japan and decides to begin using this to rejuvenate his career.
4) ECW began liberally borrowing ideas from FMW to book their own programs.

@CombatSportFan Not only the FMW influence, but Heyman himself was heavily influenced by his time in Memphis and his time helping Eddie Gilbert book.

Never mind, it was at the end of the video. It gives a whole new meaning to cutting a promo! Yikes!

He was great. I would love to see a video of the time he was literally cutting himself with an ax during an interview.

Jos was a pretty intense performer, to say the least!
But when not "in character" there was nobody nicer.
R.I.P., Jos!
