  • yes!

  • i am such a mccabe fan, but i always forget about salisbury back there doing WORK on the drums. cheers to this band. still an inspiration after all of these years

  • Absolute bliss at 4:16

  • the itunes version sucks, this one was faster, had a better solo and was better all around!

  • If you want mood & atmosphere, look no further.

  • Every time I'm watching videos like this one it makes me wonder. Why should they break up, once again?

I can't even listen to this RPA and the United Nations of Sound album. I am not comparing it to A Northern Soul or A Storm In Heaven. It is crap, one way or another. Such a shame...

  • Sensational playing from Nick McCabe on here, esp. at the end

  • It's a shame they fizzled out the way they did. The last album was disappointing. Now Richard can't even get his act together with the solo work. I still believe that he can release some great tunes but maybe happiness has numbed his skills?

  • absolute quality honestly every time i listen to this tune makes the hairs stand up on my neck!!! its a pitty there no more ;(!!!!!

  • great band great energy one of the best bands of all times with the beatles

  • this performance sums up everything that was great about the verve at the peak of their powers, this is as good a live performance as i've seen by any band in history

  • Awesome.

  • Ive got this episode on VHS also. I've watched this song alone at least 500 times.

Yeah, Nick is sick with that guitar. Look at him with that strat.

  • @Ralphyneil Yeah, just look at him and the sounds he manages to make are incredible!!

  • can some1 plz tell me what nick mc cabe done with his life from 98 to 2008 plz ? where the fook was he ?

  • Look at Nick work that Strat, utter magic, he for me made the band, love em all but just look at him play!!

  • Oasis like to compair themselvs to great bands of the past such as the Beatles, The Who etc. The fact is they were medioca at best! There was only one band worthy of the tag great in the 90's & your listening to them now... Fantastic band.....

  • There were many good bands to emerge from England during the 90's. Only the Verve deserve the titel GREAT. You can keep Oasis, mediocre at best. Urban hymns ranks alongside anything to come from Britan! In the age of the overstatement the Verve deserve the titel of great. A band that realy are worth listening to!

  • @spurscab The Verve often sight Urban Hymns as they're worst album. Storm in Heaven is an amazing.

  • @miniGMgoit ....I don't know about worst album? I think Four was there worst! I like Storm in Heaven but prefer Northern Soul!

  • @miniGMgoit sight?

  • I love the verve, i would say they have been best band we have been graced with over the last 20 years, they have greatest musical range of any other band i know of and i listen to alot of bands..Anyway want to give a big shout out to EXIT CALM this band is the real deal and i know that alot of hardcore verve fans like myself are getting in to exit calm, rob marshall is up there with nick Mccabe..

  • Agree with everything you've said,mate.

  • are you rob marshall or summin?

  • this is the best version of this song I have heard so far.

  • Still addicted to this track. what a version this is. i dare anyone to find me a band with more soul.

  • epic lyrics,epic guitar playing!

  • So fantastic to see this again - I played my VHS of it to death so many years ago and have wanted to hear it again often since.

  • tonight i listen to this song in memory of my best friend Russell Osbourne ...i miss you mate

  • Sorry for your loss mate, all the best. Magnificent track.

  • the verve thing...

  • i'm so stoned right now ... and this song couldnt be more perfect for the buzz ... Massive respect for this band

  • especially when the rhythem changes at 3minutes.....................turn it up

  • I only signed up to express my love for this performance! So much soul from a flawless Ashcroft and equally amazing McCabe.

Easily the best band in the world, so much soul - something that lacks with a lot of bands currently.

  • i hear you there!! most of em are top man bitches! British guitar music has lost it's soul.

  • @scottybrd he dude i could not agree more this man is sooo under reated!!!!! legned

  • @scottybrd Ive just done the same, first ever post.ive seen these boys live loads of times and without doubt this has to be the best performance of this song.

  • best fuckin music from amancunian

    end of fuckin story

  • hes from wigan you dick

  • Love their bass player. Always cool bass lines with fat thick tone with that nasty old school pick click.

  • I've watched this performance too many times but each time it just gets better.

  • Imagine the future..I woke up with a scream. I was buying some feelings from a vending machine..

  • The McCabe is a LEGEND!!!

  • He looks so chill!

  • can NOT get enough of this

  • 1997

  • this performance was in 1995 or 1997?

  • When listening to "Come on" as a 7th grader, I made up my mind that Nick McCabe is a genius. The belief still holds.

  • MAJJJIC!!!!!!!!!

  • wow!

    brilliant musicians.

    enjoyed Nick McCabe´s play.

    neeeeeed more McCabe videos.

  • it dont get better than this. perfect harmony.

  • Fabulous band/song!

McCabe is a superbly expressive painterly guitarist.

    Great phat bass sound too.

  • yessssssssssssssssssssss|!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Verve are Extra Terrestrials. It's blatant. This music was made on a planet far away.

  • What a fuckin superb groove ....I know it's been said many times on here but ...McCabe is just mindblowin' ....!!

  • Sure it is.

  • Absolutely awesome - these guy's are genius!!!!

  • McCabe is God.

  • suberb.fuckin out of this workd.!!!!!!!!!

  • soooooooo cool and chilled this tune. lush as.

  • I bet simon tong feels like a right prick banging two tambourines when he was apparently brought in to replace nick. he's got a synth infront of him but mcabe's producing something untouchable

  • mccabe! that guy is just so awesome!

  • Burn the audio track to CD right now ! Audio quality is first rate. Plays on my home stereo on repeat for hours late at night. Enjoy !

  • Excellent comment "vannyfresh" it's always refreshing to see someone post an intelligent comment, i've seen this clip dozens of times and still don't get tired of it. To be marked as a great guitarist you have to be distinctive and Mccabe definatly is!

  • i just got to say there is something special about nick. when you look at the other guitarists around these days or in the past like squire, butler, and others you just cant compare them because nick is so off in another planet compared to them. the others are more traditional guitarists whereas nick does something like hazel and hendrix did which is like take guitar playing to a different stratosphere. he is like no other.

  • I think its easy to compare Nick to John Squire. I think they are both extremely unqiue and very creative guitarist with their use of effects. They are both brilliant and have a very smiliar sound. I think Mccabe is the new hendrix in all honesty.

  • I wonder if Nick asks anyone filming them live not to show close ups of him because you never ever see them. Adds to the mystery of it I think

  • there fukin amazing together. id love to see them live

  • mccabe is just so very brilliant.

    love his sound.

surprises everytime i hear him play, and it is always the perfect choice. he simply does not miss.

  • Nick's playing seems to get greater every time I watch this

  • Leon that is the fucking truest thing I've heard in a long time!

  • God-like, incredible groove. What a great band. I can't wait to see them live.

  • oh boy here we go... The Verve is in Toronto tomorrow night, CAN'T WAIT!!!! this is brilliant! perfect harmony! you wont come across another band that jells as much as The Verve.. God bless you all!

  • What about the drummer? He's amazing, too; they all are.

  • Peter is truly fantastic. His timing is perfect!

  • I agree

  • Salisbury is such an underrated drummer. The b-side "stamped" pretty much sums up his greatness.

  • not really. he's average

  • Agreed.He's a very talented drummer.

  • Nick McCabe = Fuckin Brillant

  • Nick McCabe = Fuckin Brillant

  • What can I say other than brilliant, Richard and Nick Love it

  • can i say something worth while? No ,comment abort

  • im so glad this is here!!!

  • nick mccabe is just awesome! what a great guitar player, it just shows it here how friggin awesome he is

  • Pure Glory

    Fucking hell that's good.

    Cheers, V.

  • Best performance from The Verve on Jools show.

  • wow, that really was one of their best performances ever i must say

  • that's the haircut!!! the best he's ever had.

  • McCabe = legend

  • Wow.

    I'm floored.

    And speechless.

A great album track made even better by treating the two main "voices" of the band equally.

When was this recorded? If it wasn't long ago, it bodes well for the future ...

  • Ah, ok, it's from 97 -- I've just seen a date on it in another thread. Should have figured it out myself from the RAF jacket ... anyways, nice walk down memory lane, and we'll wait for new uploads to see what teh future hold, eh?
