  • No freakout burnouts for my 283. Rebuilt a year and half ago here in Denton, Tx by an old hand. He said it was one of the cleanest he'd seen. Christmastime for me to hear that. Tap on the pedal and my 2000 lb Impala scoots along nicely.

  • When I saw the heading I knew that the trans had to have been changed. There is no way a Powerglide, stock 283 and a 3.08 rear can do anything remotely like that.

  • @hullinger Haha true, It could with one wheel, but it had 3.55 I think in the orig diff before it blew.

  • 1964 belair burnout

  • @bbald1976 Yep can't wait till I put the new engine in..

  • very nice, i' ve got a 283 that's bored .060 over as well, that's gonna be goin into my camaro soon, it's basically stock except the cam is a high rise, don't know the specs, lost the paper they were on lol, and the intake manifold is a Edelbrock Performer.

  • 283... on slick tires... or do you got something else going on here...

  • you can build a 283 just as bad as any other sbc

  • I'm just curious what was that noise right at the end as he was pulling away?

  • That snapping popping noise? That was the rear tire on the other side.

  • Anyway, I prefer a 67/68 Firebird to a Camaro anyday.

  • I do to.. my camaro was my aunts that she bought new, I got it after she had died so its almost like a member of the family if you know what I mean.

  • Funny how you just got a Camaro for free.

  • I never said I got it for free. It was actually in her b/f's name that she was engagged to. I worked out a deal with him for it.

  • Hmmm you got screwed then cause it wasnt his to sell or give if they were just dating and being engaged doesnt mean a damn thing as far as round here.

  • I mean I am wondering how you got the title for it to transfer it because his name isnt on the title and he wasnt married to her so if he signed his name they shouldnt have transfered it. Then if he signed her name then that forgery which is illegal.

  • Oh btw im curious what year camaro are we talking about a 1990`s camaro? one of those ugly 1980`s camaro? or what year?

  • 72 RS

  • 72 is the year they changed the body style if i remember right. One i like is he 70 1/2 or the 67 - 69. I know 75 and newer are for sure ugly as hell.

  • The car was transfered to his name before she died.

  • As far as I was concerned it was his car because it was in his name. He was like family to us, I offered him some money for it, he wouldn't accept what I offered, so he took half of what I offered.

  • And the old 283 loves a burnout, there's none of this overheating crap and after the tires are blown I just drive off like normal, When you stand there watching amateur attempting to do burnouts in the stock v6's and single wheelers diff, it's hard to resist and show them some real smoke until you cant see the car. I didn't spend over $8k on the driveline for nothing, Yes I know..., But most cars around here fall apart or break something every time they try to light the rears up.

  • Just so everyone knows Catalina65389 is a poser he says now he restores cars as a hobby and sells them but heres what he said I copied it and pasted it to a blog of mine for my auto buddys to read here is exactly what he said.

"I am a car person, probably more than you. Being that's what I do every day in the classic car restoration business."

  • and he also said this

"dude you don't even know what the fuck you are talking about. I restore cars at my house in my garage, not at an uptight car restoration place. all they care about is making money. Most the time I don't make any money at all, im lucky if i make even, I just enjoy working on old cars and saving them from the crusher."

  • hey dude, why don't you just get over it. You are drawing this out and it is insane. You do not know anything about me. You are a car guy, an asshole one but you are, and I am a car guy. we don't agree on everything, so lets leave it at that and stop talking shit, we both went completely overboard so lets end it now.

  • Oh wow impressive dipshit, how about you stop sending me private messages cussing me out telling me how I give the car hobby a bad wrap when its posers like you acting like your better than everyone. I mean hell thats all you are is a poser, posers lie and you do that too since you stated that you run a classic car restoration business and that you do that every day and that makes you a car person but yet now your saying its a hobby not a business so what is it?

  • All I have to say is how about you stop making replys because if you really wanted to stop this "argument" you would stop replying you wouldnt keep trying to get the last word in. Me on the other hand I could care less, I love watching you squirm on the hot seat and my auto friends are wanting more blog posts with copies of what your saying since they cant belive anyone as ignorant as you is in the car hobby.

  • @Milner62 i would have to agree with you on pretty much everything. but the one thing i would agree with him on is that you did go a little overboard. i mean ya calling someone out when they are lying is fine but you really wanted to make sure he knew that you were better because you paid for everything you have when you accused him of acting like he was better. but ya sounds like you have some pretty sweet cars. do you have any videos of them? id like to see if you wouldnt mind.

  • @saxyjazz123 might have went over board but one thing I dont stand for is lieing. I dont care if its online or in person I dont care for it. I just dont get why people have to lie to fit in by saying they have this car or that car. Who cares get the kind of car you like and screw what others think. As far as me being better, didnt intend for it to come across like that.

As far as videos goes, I dont really have videos of mine cause their either under restoration or are in need of it.

  • @Milner62, But I have thought of doing a photo slide show though but I am reluctant because I am currently working on my 63 right now and the others are pushed to the side waiting for their turn. Might just be a personal issue that I dont like the thought of sharing alot of photos of a car that isnt being worked on as of yet. But if you are open to a photo slide show I can do a quick one on my 63 or so and have it up in a few days or so.

  • @Milner62 oh ya its no problem i really hate lying to. im like you in that i dont really only want one brand of car but i would have to say i tend to lean towards chevy. dont worry about the videos though. i know the whole need to be restored thing. my dad has a 1956 pontiac wagon. i believe its a cheiftan? i think thats spelled wrong and i have an 85 camaro. one problem for us really is affording parts so projects get very drawn out. oh we also have a 63 corvair

  • @saxyjazz123, well im working on a slide show I started on it once before but stopped cause I couldnt pick the right song that would go with it.

Currently on my list is my 63 Belair that I am getting closer and closer to being finished, all thats left is paint & body, interior restoration and then its on to reassembly. next on my platter I dont know I might do my 78 Cougar XR7 which is my every day driver or I might do a frame off restoration on my 56 Fairlane.

  • @Milner62 it was supposedly modified by chevy racing after the 63 racing year with left over parts. we havent ever confirmed it though lol. really all we have confirmed cause of numbers is that from the factory it could have only been the 110hp car and that it has the 140hp motor in it.

  • @saxyjazz123, Chevrolet has done some weird things. For instance the block in my 63 is orignal to the car but the block was orignally ment for a Corvette. It was made in Flint where all corvette blocks were made, but the date code for when the block was made doesnt match up for a 1963 year model and based off the casting number the only one that makes sense is a surplus 1961 Corvette block ment for the 1962 year model but the 327 came out in 62 replacing the 283 so there was a surplus

  • @Milner62 Alot of people say im full of it but what can I say the fan clutch is dated 1961, the glass water bottle on the fender the bracket that holds it is dated 1961 as well. It was generally done in the assembly lines to use what you had if you ran out, so its obvious that they ran out of parts and were using some left over parts from 1961 when mine was being built and mine was lucky enough to get a 61 corvette block with the correct heads and internals.

  • Ok maybe I missworded it, but I do consider a business something that you make money off of. I have bought cars, restored them and sold them. Yet I have kept many cars also. Unfortunately lately I haven't had much time to work on cars like I would want to. In the process of buying a house kind of slows the funds down. I am not trying to get the last words in here, just simply answering your question.

  • doesnt matter to me I just love your logic. A business is something you do as a source of income. You are selling cars and making money regardless if your just breaking even thats still a business. Now if you dont have a job you work at that you get paid for then you would have two things to do say your car restoraiton is a business or say it isnt in which case you dont have a job and then that will make people wonder where you got the money to do this.

  • But besides that though, you said its a business you said you do it every day and proclaimed that makes you a car person which in all honesty doesnt. I know many people that work on cars just because the pay is good and being a trained tech you can work your way up to not doing anything other than watching and showing the non certified techs how to do things or help them figure out the problem.

  • Catalina you are fucking pathetic giving me thumbs down, YOU SAID IT WAS A BUSINESS YOU WORKED RESTORING CARS FOR A LIVING but NOW YOU DONT its nice how i caught your lieing sack of shit ass and you remove all your comments. Pathetic is all you are.

  • yeah, because im done arguing over something as stupid as you, you are not worth it and you are obviously an immature stupid fuck

  • lmfao immature your the one on here posing and making shit up like a little fucking kid saying you restore cars for a living so your a car person and THEN YOU SAY YOU DO IT AS A HOBBY NOT AS A JOB AFTER YOU SAID YOU HARDLY EVER BREAK EVEN IN THE BUSINESS. YOU DONT KNOW SHIT ABOUT CARS AND I KNOW THAT AS WELL AS YOU DO.

  • My dad actually has a 62 Pontiac Laurentian that he is restoring and it's now been over 5 years now and he hasnt even touched the body yet.

  • Yep it takes along time to do it thats why I dont see why anyone would sell a car they restored cause it takes years. The 63 Belair I have been doing its not a 100% factory restoration its a 95% factory restoration with subtle street machine modifications done that are bolt on, but ive been messing with her since 2002 and I am just now soda blasting the body for body work and paint.

  • Where did you get a 292/292 crane cam? All I see crane offering is a 284/292 or a 292/300 camshaft. Not only that ut you mentioned the tires dont last more than 2 mins at 6,000. I know a 283 can handle 6,000 but whats with the errors in your stories? I am just curious because I have a built up 283 and I never hold it at 6,000 especially doing a burn out. That shit over heats your transmission quickly.

  • Not to mention that snap at the end sounded like you blew a cylinder or the very least snapped an axle so whats your story on that loud snap sound? Cause that was something breaking.

  • Its called a crane blue racer, I believe they are only sold in australia, google crane blue racer its there sold by speed pro, I just checked.

  • Thats probably why. Lots of the stuff you get in Australia is way different than here in the states. Thats like the 63 Belair`s sent to Australia had a very bland dashboard that was nothing like the american counterpart as well as having a impala trunk lid giving the Belair the same 6 total round tail lights. Sadly I cant find the paper on the camshaft in mine all I know is its supposed to redline at 7,000 - 8,000 but I plan on keeping her under 6,000.

  • Yep, The dash I belive is actually the same as a pontiac one, well candian ones, they had to use impala boots(trunk) due to the cars having to have seperate lights for the indercators over here.

  • ha I didnt know that was the reasion for having the Impala trunk lid on the Belair`s. I thought it was a way to make them more fancy looking to sell. I need to add that to my research file I have on my 63.

  • jees, whats with the warden here. playing 21 questions are we?

  • If you were a car person you would ask questions to. I was curious to the specs on the vehicle.

  • Comment removed

  • I doubt your a car person. Just cause you work in the restoration business doesnt mean you like cars just means you like spending $20,000 to $30,000 to restore a car then turn around and slap a fucking price tag of $50,000 - $100,000+ on them. I have seen numerous restoraion shops do that. Me on the other hand I have 9 vehicles which are either restored, undergoing restoration or awaiting restoration and they are all done by me not no business that rips people off.

  • Comment removed

  • This is great, personal insults all because you got fucking butt hurt over me asking questions about someones car get a fucking life. You are nothing but a pathetic excuse for a human being. You think I really give a flying fuck that you barely break even on restoring cars. I dont give a shit if you were really a car person you wouldnt restore cars just to sell them to someone else you would do like me and like most other car people and KEEP THE FUCKING CARS.

  • I mean cmon I wasnt even talking to you I was talking to the owner of the car so I dont even see why you butted getting ass hurt over me asking so many questions if the owner of the vehicle didnt like all the questions he could have said something but he didnt. Either way you cut it you are NOT a car person cause a car person does not restore cars to sell and make money and if you are just BARELY breaking even in your car restoration business then your a idiot then for that as a job.

  • Comment removed

  • But either way you are NOT a car person because you said its a business, not a hobby so you are restoring those cars to make money and if you are lucky to barely break even then I bet your living with your parents cause I doubt your married cause no wife will support a guy that runs a business that barely breaks even if lucky and takes a loss the majority of the time. Either way I am a car person I repair cars for money and I use my spare money to restore my PERSONAL CARS.

  • yeah i don't keep any of mine.. the one i drive every day has been in the family since 1969, the other one i drive ive had since 1995 and my camaro since i was 15 you stupid FUCK. Restoring cars is a hobby of mine you ass fuck and it has been since i was 12 working on cars with my dad. You don't know shit about me so just shut the fuck up.

  • lol let me guess its a 1969 Camaro cause every poser says they got a camaro. Besides that if you want to do this I sure as fuck can, I am fixing to start restoring a 1956 Fairlane with the optional 292 Thunderbird Y8 WITH 4V Holley thats been in family since new, I am working on a 1963 Belair 2dr Sdn 283V8 2V AC/PS/PB/PS/ AM/FM radio thats been in family since new, I have a 1981 Corvette that is next, I have a 1979 Elcamino that I got from the orignal owner, I drive daily a 1978 Cougar XR7

  • with a factory optional 351W and FMX transmission I got from the orignal owner, I have a 1988 Escort GT with a 1.9L EFI HO with a ford dealership installed turbo thats been in family since new as well as a 1982 F150 stepside truck that I got from the second owner. I am currently in the process of getting a 1958 Belair/Biscayne combo to restore both of which has the 348 engines under the hood. So yea I am more of a car person that YOU ARE cause I am NOT selling mine.

  • AND to get my point across I didnt get any of these cars for free, I bought every last one of them. Even the 56 I bought from my grandparents and gave them money for it. I bet the ones thats been in your family you got handed to you for free I bet.

  • See at least you like Different cars and arnt just some Chevy or Ford nut that hates all other makes.

  • I am not make specific I like a car for its looks and for how its built. Only ones I dont like are hondas, toyotas and cars like those cause they are very complicated and more stuff to go wrong. But I almost got a 1966 Dodge Chager with a 383 4V with factory AC and ps but the guy didnt want to hold up his end of the bargain of holding onto for a few weeks for me to get out there with the money and a trailer.

  • When it's your own car you will always put in that extra bit of effort and it's never a rush job. I have seen a few imported cars from America here, it seems to me that the old spray can is the quick way to make it look all new and original? hmm

I don't mind answering questions, Otherwise everybody would just be assuming.

  • I agree, thats why I was getting at the end of my rope with this guy about the questions, its not his vehicle and if you didnt like answer all the questions you would have said something. But its funny how he made up how he is a car person cause he restores cars as a business daily but now its a hobby. lol.

  • You can smoke dat one, just don't inhale like Bill clinton. Great cars of the sixties. when they had chrome.

  • Great bunout man! How'bout the stuff in the engine?? Any upgrade?

  • Nup all stock just new pistons and bearings.

  • If is all stock just new pistons and bearings why in the description did you list a Crane cam?

  • Im assuming he meant does it have forged hi comp pistons, better rods etc, I assume he did read the description before commenting.

  • Ah ok. Only thing is I couldnt find a 292/292 duration crane cam for the 283-327 engine family. But with 3.55:1 and a 2900 stall converter I hope you dont do much street driveing because long as your under 2900 rpm your converter is slipping and generating excessive heat. Would shorten the life of your transmission more so than doing a burn out like that.

  • haha funny add some more on been waiting for to long

of urs and white crap heap lol

  • i have a 65 c20 with a 283. its one kickass motor

  • Yeah they are, I just bought 2 garrett t04 turbos for it, just need to get some forged pistons for it first!

  • lol nice i have a 283 too they kick ass cant imagine a turbo on one

  • Haha yeah, well I just bought a 502 injected big block so I'm going to use the turbos on that now, well after I get it in and running first. :) Tyres dont last more than 2mins even with the 283 hard out at 6 grand.

  • 283...The little engine that could!

  • thats a real car.

  • Yeah I'm trying to make the hole in the ozone layer bigger.

  • Haha ivile your response was funny :P

  • i just laughed so hard when i read this. OMG . Dude i just bought a 4 door 63, love it its beautiful/

  • bloody boiz & their car talk.. less talkin more destruction of tyres!!!

    -alexis

  • A good version of the SB chevy. High revving & fast winding. Are you having any cooling issues with the .60 overbore??

  • Nup the temp never goes over 1/2 way, i did just buy a weiand alloy water pump for it and the temp did drop a bit lower. I'm getting some new heads for it, before these power pac ones blow up. I also have put a trutrac lsd centre in the diff, cos the other 4 pinion 9 inch died. :)

  • 283's are very good engines. They will rev to the moon.

  • awsome (dads gotta red 64 belair with a blown small block on air bag suspencion) good ta see one doing a burnout!

  • Awesome. Duration and variety is lacking but still dam good.

  • Yeah, Those cross ply tires don't last very long.
