it looks like an aba swap how did you get away with no MAF sensor or am i just not seeing it. I am working on an 82 and plan on doing the aba swap too. could use some pointers thanks.
@frizzlefry99 No its a 1.8L...Stock '84 block rebuilt with '83 solid lifter head. Im using a standalone controller called Simple digital system. I have a crank trigger via magnets on the crank pulley, air temp sensor, and manifold pressure, and advance/retard timing control... thats it!...everything is adjusted through the timing, and various pressures. Warm up is effected by this setup, so i included an electric valve which allows more air at idle...raising the rpm's.
The Year makes it a mk1...MK1 simply is the German/European way of saying 1st generation. 1974 was when the first MK1 Rabbits came out. From 74-84 they made improvements to the cars design and engine/transmission but didn't change the chassis design very much....mostly cosmetic stuff. My car however is a MK1 GTI/Rabbit.which is the sport version of the rabbit. There where only 2 years of MK1 GTI's...83-84. In 85 the MK2's began. VW is now up to MK6.
