check out john elephante's "Corridors" album. You will cry listening to that body of work, I promise... The spirit of God poured music into him to share with us!!!
@hhfan21 yeah, it's like my favorite right now, lol, there's a heavier guitar sound in the live version that I wish was in the album version. (you might notice the difference too)
@1981z28camaro I play the song on piano all the way through, and I've been changing it up a bit so it sounds better, but my sound still isn't quite right... so I'm changing that. But the guitar is definitely better in this live YouTube video.
It's awesome that there are those who work in the secular industry of rock who have turned their life over to Christ and can still keep their integrity. This can be perceived from a Christian understanding of idolatry and the intrinsic nature of sin. Rock on for the Lord, guys! Blessings!
Kerry shared with me that they discovered this song from another small band. They asked permission to rework it because the original was "Stay with Me Tonight" and you can guess the rest of the song. Kerry, with his new convictions, just couldn't go there. They still were able to turn it into a commercial success. The rest of Vinyl Confessions (last album?) is worth a listen. Dave Hope the bassist, also in AD, made a commitment to Christ.
Planning on seeing Kansas June 26 @ Blossom--I understand that Steve Walsh is back as the lead singer and has been doing Play The Game Tonight/Fight Fire with Fire that's interesting!
I know John Elefant with Christian Rock/pop and glad on his path his took.
I'm sorry, I have to laugh - hard! The way Elefante struts across the stage and flexes his legs (:58 - 1:20) it looks like he's been taking Freddy Mercury lessons!
At about the :37 mark, elefante is looking around thinking, "did they just hear me cut that note a little short"? Anyway, good song and good live vocals.
This comment made me laugh but the chances of seeing a mulatto kid running around the midwest in the early 80's was pretty slim. There were hardly even that many in jersey. :}
For all those who say that Walsh sounded better than this need to listne to the 1980 tour stuff. Walsh was losing his tone and couldn't sustain the high notes. He re-energized himself with some of the Streets stuff, but other than the few years with Morse, he's sounded like crap. Don't get me wrong - everything up to '79 sounded heavenly.
real music and great singers are gone to some shit head who cant sing hence dave mathews and other crap so called music,, this is a real singer and band not crap you have today, loverboy is good to real music a real band
you are kidding...loverboy? please! They don't hold a candle to kansas. And elefante (or whatever) did a good job standing in for Steve, give the guy credit. I enjoyed this whole album and I love old Kansas too. Don't be haters!!!
Not only was Elefante a good stand-in, I would say he was better than Walsh, but I may be biased from Vinyl Confessions being my favorite Kansas Album.
If I compare this version to the studio one its better, ´cause it rocks more and the choir is better. I love the solo at the end thats not in the studio version
Well but it was in 2002, I´ve seen the video and Steve is under John´s level. But I mean if Steve sang it in that time when the song was created, in 1982.
There is a fan site out there(I haven't been there in years!) that has a couple of songs from this album with Walsh singing them! They were scratch tracks for this album but he left before they recorded it! He sounds amazing but would you expect anything but! I'll try to find it and check back!

Kansas used to be an amazing band. Terrific musicians, and very good songs. Sometimes, they sound like progressive rock, wich is beautiful. Their live performances seemed to be fantastic. I'm 33 year old and never went to a show...they didn't come to Brazil.
I must say I like Walsh and J Elefante. They were really great singers and helped kansas to assume a place in History, as a remarkable rock band.
and ya know... all of you who werent' there when the world changed and then in person at this concert, you really, really don't know what you are talking about. and if you are still bitching, you don't get, you just don't understand. all the best to everyone. :D
I want to disagree with myself earlier, this was not the low point. That was the next album. JE was a great solo artist later on though. Walsh's solo stuff is ok, can't wait to hear some stuff from the other members of the bands band, Native Wind? I think.
THIS was my FIRST concert! what an awesome memory :) Walsh is probably my fave vocalist, but John sure was great...thank you for putting this up, i have a friend who had this on VHS. -MAVIII(progulus. c o m)oh... Kerry and Robby 2 underated guitarists!
And it isn't just his great vocals he puts on a great show. His energy, passion and enthusiasm. If kansas was about to enter a period of dryness and lethargy the inclusion of elephante in the band made certain that didn't happen because they all sound great..
Sorry, meant to post that on another video where people were talking trash about J.E. I have nothing against Walsh & have seen him live & met him, nice guy. Just think Elefante has endured as the better singer. Peace
I can't believe people still talk about who was better, Elefante or Walsh. Elefante has constantly cranked out new, incredible, powerful material since those 4 years & Walsh seems to just recycle the same stuff and his voice has gone downhill. I LOVE John Elefante & he's an awesome producer too. You've gotta hear his new stuff & not worry about whether he filled in this short gig perfectly - which he did do great against all the odds.
"Walsh seems to just recycle the same stuff and his voice has gone downhill"
??? Have you even heart Shadowman or Glossolalia? Definitely not the same music churning over and over again. Much heavier and better composed (imo) than any of the Elefante solo music I've heard.
Yes, I've heard some of Glossalalia. I guess these debates could go on forever really. Depends on your taste - I think JE's style of music has evolved more with the decades, but I'm open-minded enough to know some people won't agree with that. Peace :)
I saw Kansas open for Styx way back when (can't remember the year), and I don't know who was singing for them at the time, but he RUINED the concert! Musically, Kansas was PERFECT! I saw Kansas on the same tour with Styx(who sounded incredible by the way)and they were great! You just couldn't tell because their sound was butchered! Someone messed with the crossover on the P.A. and their volumes were limited.I thought that kind of childish shit only went on in nightclubs! Can't we all just get along?
