@nidhoggrdrake it's on loads of bassey greatest hits, best of, collections etc. go on amazon and look under bassey. they often give you a snippet to listen to so, you can compare it to this. as far as i know, this is the only studio version she did of this. thus, if it ain't live, it'll be this one.

@nidhoggrdrake just had a look on amazon and it's on the shirley bassey singles album. i have it on the 25th anniversary double vinyl lp but, i'm not sure whether this is available on cd, if it is, it's a great album (40 top notch tracks) and probably better value for money than the singles album.

Don't you just miss the old days when we have amazing artists with just special amazing voices?! I really miss it & I'm pretty young. I was born in the 90' when these songs were long founded. I love the artists now but I love the old 1900's. The lyrics & rhythm is the REAL MEANING of music. Now they talk about girls, sex, drugs etc but than it was all about love. LOVE IT! (:

Nore more Contraltos, Basses, Baritones, sopranos or dramatic voices and true artists. Only cookie cutter teen voices built and processed using electronics in the studio..

"Cookie cutter" . . . . . I agree with you! Alot of singers today sound the same and there's not much distinction between them like the singers of yesterday. I hate all of the autotune that are used in album recordings today and it takes away the rawness of the singer's voice that is so full of feeling and emotion. Today alot of singer's voices are void of emotion and when you add autotune on top of that it makes their voices even more void of emotion. What a shame!

@MusicLoverBrian1 Agreed.... I actually would like to see anyone of today's singers attempt to sing with a Piano in a hall without a microphone. I am sure that 95% of them wouldn't be up to the task and those that did have the guts to try it would probably fail miserably. I would imagine intonation problems, projection would probably be non existent and the ability to sing a legato line... well... I doubt they would understand the significance of that.

Shirley Bassey can sing without a microphone. I remember an interview special in which Shirley talked about the time that she lost her voice after her daughter's death and she had to go to a vocal coach (also was a former opera singer) and she said that Shirley really doesn't need to sing with a microphone but the only reason that she does is because of the amplification of the instruments that back her up. But other than that her voice could fill the entire Royal Albert Hall.
