  • Just wanted to say thanks for posting this up. I'm an Aussie and we have some really venomous snakes here, and I have recently started keeping my own snakes (Jungle pythons). I came her from another video where an American had a pistol and blew the head off a copperhead. It saddened me, because the snake didn't do anything wrong, and this redneck was wandering through the grass looking for it, and these people think they're dangerous? All they want to do is avoid you. Props for doing it right.

  • copperheads arent that venomous really my dog was hit by one while hunting and lived with no problems at all

  • @cbr6864 dogs have some sort of resistance to it. my friend got bit by 1 and he almost died. my hunting dogs have been bit alot of times and they are just about perfectly fine.

  • found one in north carolina today, great looking snake!

  • people think theyre so aggressive but they are not at all .

  • Timber rattle snake is my fear at my house D:

  • Man I just spotted a Copperhead on my porch going down my steps. I'm in north-west, AR. They're pretty common here. A little too close for comfort, though ha. Very beatiful snake in person. Good vid man.

  • Is that an Osage Copperhead?

  • @coilstapped1622 That is the Eastern Copperhead... the differences are in the patterns... the Eastern has the Hershey kisses shape colorations/markings, which connect front and tail and break apart over the middle of the body, Western has the same markings but wider and not a defined colorchange in the pattern.. the Osage is a subspecies of the Western.. the Eastern pictured above is highly aggressive as a juvenile, but the older ones are (strike if they need to ) less aggressive.

  • Is that snake territorial?

  • Copperheads love cicadas. If you can catch a live cicada, it would probably make great bait for the snake.

That is a pretty specimen. And patient, too.

  • why release it... its like rat in some area..

  • I'm sorry I got pets to worry about, if i saw one of those things in my yard imma smash it with a cinder block.

  • what chimical did u put to attrack the snak?

  • @zoughbi snacks can't smell

  • @141Tech :- Same as SNAKES they cant smell. My curry SNACK cant smell...BUT boy it does smell.

  • Nice video! Although you rival Bobby Orr when you brought that snake hook out. Looked like you were having a good time stick handling that snake.

  • That was the most laid back snake I've ever seen! I've had Garter snakes act way more vicious!

  • @MrBlood12 ball pythons are perfectly okay thier not venomous and very nice animals

  • great to release the animal un-harmed. nice video.

  • So is this a spring loaded trap or I guess what is the trapping mechanism?

  • The only snake trap I use is a 12ga with no. 8 shot.

  • @trogdorpontiac .....me too.

  • @trogdorpontiac Wow. So tough.

  • @trogdorpontiac that only works while your on guard. Traps work 24/7.

  • @trogdorpontiac Pathetic! Let me guess. you're a redneck from one of the great states of shootin stuff? Sad sad sad

  • @trogdorpontiac Ignorance is so COOL!

  • when i was little i saw one of these swimming by the dock i was fishing off of. it scared the shit out of me. i dont know if it was a copperhead or not but it had the same coloration.

  • Beautiful animal , they're very striking right after they shed , beautiful colors .

  • whats the opening song?

  • @NitroRedneck704 It's called "Greasy Wheels" it's one of the jingles in the iLife Sound Effects.

  • you talk about that just mice stuff is there any other home made things that will attract snakes by smell any one PLEASE HELP!!!!

  • agreed. If a copperhead doesn't know you are approaching and you threaten it you are in deep shit , I have seen them chase full grown men off the dirt road and back into their truck. Lsoon here: Always wear good boots and jeans while in the woods. Never handle or try to handle a copperhead. And always walk with heavy feet, almost stomping loudly if you aren't able to see the ground clearly while walking in a wooded area. They will flee from the vibrations, it actually hurts them away...

  • @possum1011 thats a lie copperheads are aggresive to anything that approaches them

  • @2mudvayne actaully, copperheads are pretty much as docile as a pit viper will get, seen tons of them and never once have i been struck at, even poking them with sticks rarly gets them in an aggressive mood.

  • oh lol ive been confusing water snakes with copperheads lol

  • @AssassinSkills yea they do look alike

  • i touched a snake once :) i wanna get one even though im casious of my friends one who is milked and has no teeth :) im gonna go ahead and get a rattle snake for my first

  • steve irwin almost killed me, after watching an episode of him wen i was like 13 i decided to walk around outside with a stick looking for snakes, all of a sudden i saw one fly past me it was a copperhead, went into long grass, i went after it and it turned around and lunged it reached my face they jump high as shit, to this day i dont want to ever touch a snake.

  • @fivedollerfootlong not to be rude but maybe steve irwin was taken out by god for making 50 million kids THINK that you can manhandle wild animals and not get hurt or killed.

  • @astrialkil Nah, i loved steve irwin, he always condoned every episode not to try it at home, that he was a professional, im not at all blaming steve irwin for anything, just saying, he inspired me to be like him.

  • @fivedollerfootlong um steve irwin had nothing to do with it. that was you doing something DANGEROUSLY stupid

  • @ChromeGhost0219 Haha the other guy was blaming steve irwin, where did you come from?

  • @fivedollerfootlong what other guy?

  • @ChromeGhost0219 ... scroll down, astrialkil.

  • @fivedollerfootlong:- "When I was like 13"....So was you "like" 13 or 13 or neither. How is anyone "like 13". Are you from a 3rd world country that has minimal education.......like...????

  • @LMck111 Calm down, jeez why am i getting so much hate from telling a story.. I can't exactly remember what age I was at the time, thats why LIKE was used, it was somewhere around 13 maybe a little less maybe a little more. Think before you talk...and lighten up a bit.

  • @fivedollerfootlong :- It's not hate, it's confusion. The terrible use of the English language is something that should never be accepted. You never read a book & see " I was like 13" it just comes across so stupid. Read it back & take out the word "like". Makes more sense! Also "when" & "I" need to be addressed. Finally, snakes do not "fly" & "shit" can not jump. Are you from a third world education curriculum?

  • @LMck111 No, I'm from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Sorry I refrain from using propper grammer and spelling when i am commenting on youtube, god forbid! Get a life you nerd, end of conversation. Go criticize a book or something.

  • @fivedollerfootlong :- Ah Ha.....! So you are from the 3rd world. its " I " not " i " when referring to yourself. Oh no...! I say when the ride is over..! LOL You're funny.

  • @LMck111 Thanks bud, i find you amusing too :)

  • @fivedollerfootlong HAHAHHA THAT MADE MY DAY <3

  • @fivedollerfootlong well a copperhead wouldn't have killed you, unless you were allergic, and isnt it common sense not to mess with venomous animals? like trying to catch a queen bee by shaking the hive xD

  • @fivedollerfootlong lol,i dont touch the poisonis ones, just the ones you can keep as a pet

  • @pops51201 snakes are never pets.......

  • @UFOsaucer1 snakes are pets i have about 20

  • or just do it my way and throw your shirt on it find the head and wrap the snake in the shirt and either keep or let it go

  • Can you suggest any specs for making a trap like this? It looks like a purse string design like a fish trap?

  • same basic design as a minnow or fish trap????

  • the Copperhead is a pit viper. The pits on it's jaws detect heat for a reaction. The 'snake tongs' this guy was using made the snake appear tame, but it's only because it was cold metal. Put your hand in and BAM. Heat sets off the 'trap', just like a rat. They don't snap at coat hangers

  • @nighthawk5556 if i had a dollar for everytime i've picked up one of these guys and not been bitten, i'd be rich. it all depends on how threateden the snake feels. if they're on edge and poised to defend, tongs are the way to go, or just leave them alone. one thats chill and not wound up, you can handle. for the most part, these are pretty docile snakes, but each situation is different. by the way thier pits are used to hunt food, not defend against predators....just sayin.

  • @licmy3balls didn't know that. Thought they were their 'infrared cameras' lol. Never tried to handle one cuz the last time I seen one I was very young. Never heard of anything more than a bad scar from a bite though.

  • @nighthawk5556 the pits are like infrared camerasbut thier use is for hunting not defense. actually aside from the fact some are venomous snakes are pretty helpless except maybe for constrictors.

  • That color pattern is why i've never seen one I guess.

  • Man, I wish these snakes weren't venomous, they're so beautiful.

  • Is there a nature-related reason (survival) for why babies are dark, and then lighten up as they grow older? Also, what percentage of copperheads survive long enough to become adults?

  • wow lol r u scared dude ur hook is shacking like crazy lol

  • yes, copperheads are venomous, but they aren't as dangerous to adults as a rattlesnake. kids, elderly, and pets can be killed frop a bite. but usually you have to really PO one to get bit. the captive bred ones ive seen are gorgeous!

  • r copperheads venomous?

  • that snake was so calm you could have held it with your hands

  • 22 mag will catch any snake

  • The vid was cool I just wish u wouldn't have tourtured it with te stick all that time

  • Snakes? I hate snakes. I don't take chances with any venomous animals. I steer clear when I can, but I don't want any poisonous one's near my house where they can harm someone.

  • i'm with @heresthadude1080

  • Don't kill snakes! :) I like them.

  • poor frogs

  • Copperhead venom is good for you, lots of vitamins.

  • Good on you for saving that beautiful animal and moving it to a more wild place! Too many people just kill copperheads and rattlers when they come in contact with civilization. (And more cheers for letting people know that playing with copperheads they find is a bad idea!)

  • Great vid.

  • i had one try to bite me when i was cuttin trees down. so guess wat. he aint a chainsaw

  • i would of just killed the snake

  • I love that you can relocate and release the Snakes with these things :)

  • It's a great way to preserve the natural habitat. It breaks my heart to see people just assume all snakes need to die.

  • I wuda just went after the bastard with a rake.

  • I love how close the baby moccasins and copperheads look.. Also once I saw a beautiful water snake around 2-3 feet long that looked similar to a copperhead, one of the guys that lived in the area said it was a water band, but I cant find any pictures to positively identify that snake.. does anyone have any ideas?

  • @galbatorixx Depends on where you live. it could be a Northern or Southern Water Snake :)

  • @Tigerpuffer I live in Panama City, Florida, I've looked at all the pictures I could find but nothing showed up.. I was going to get in the water and grab it but I was concerned it was a moccasin. I did find a full grown moccasin in the middle of the road about a year ago, I forced my buddy to pull over so I could play with it then get it off the road so it wouldn't get run over.. theirs not alot of them left up there because they are killed on site most of the time

  • Probably a Southern Water Snake. Water Snakes are generally longer and skinnier than Water Moccasins. And good job not killing them :) I saw a small Water Moccasin 3 years ago in a swamp on the Babcock Ranch in Florida.

  • I shoot these with my 410 shotgun all of the time.

  • where do you get those traps?Do they work for lizards?

  • baby frogs!?!?!??!Use crickets.

  • u make great vids there really cool

  • Are they poisonous or venomous? I have never seen one, I live in Nevada.

  • They are VERY poisonous. If ever bitten by one and seek medical attention immediately you will be fine. Copperhead bites are rarely fatal

  • They are Venomous. There is no such thing as a poisonous snake. AND They are they have the mildest venom out of all other vipers snake in the USA. The only reports of death were from multiple bites and no treatment.

  • poisonous!!!!!! I have a WHOLE LOT! in my area but they're venom is practicly Harmless to people

  • practically harmless to people?!?!?!?! WHAT?!?!?! they are extremely venomous and can kill you if you dont get medical attention soon enough!

  • they can't really kill you, unless they bite you in the neck or maybe if you are 4, but you could definitely lose an arm or hand to necrosis...

  • they can easily kill you. i mean yea its unlikely with all the health care and stuff we have, but left untreated would more than likely result in death

  • if by easily you mean multiple bites by multiple snakes then yes, you can die from them. even left untreated a single bite from an Agkistrodon contortrix (copperhead) to an adult in an appendage (hand, foot) would cause, at most, loss of that limb and possibly shock (which itself can cause death). the venom of a copperhead simply is not designed to kill in a way that the dose an adult specimen can deliver would be deadly, it has the least potent venom of any north american pit viper...

  • bottom line is it is definitely not more than likely that you would die from a copperhead bite unless you were really young, really old, or had an impairment to your person (heart condition, etc)

  • Finally, someone who knows what they are talking about and just doesn't spout off with random sentence fragments due to fear.

  • They have the mildest venom in the USA. They are not EXTREMELY venomous.

  • snakes are venomous. There's a diference between venom and poison. Venom has to be injected and poison has to be digested

  • I know how to get rid of your copperhead prob;em, just put kin snakes every where

  • lol

  • Very informative, it could really help people that live in copperhead-invested areas, I don't think they should be killed, just release them a couple miles away. I love snakes, even though I was about a inch away from being bitten from a copperhead once.

  • you may have seen an eastern hognose. they are sometimes mistaken for a copperhead and they flatten out their necks like a cobra.

  • i live in west virginia so copperheads and rattlesnakes are a common thing but i was in the woods with my grand pa and the road we were 4-wheelin on a bright orange and black copperhead was crossin the road. but the thing is when i stopped to see it it raised up like a cobra and swolled its head.

  • Ive ben bit by a copperhead and cotten mouth. it is not fun trust me

  • Sounds to me like an Eastern hognose (Heterodon platyrhinos). Harmless. What did you do with it?

  • @ConservationBoy well my g-paw thought it was a coperhead and shot it.... i wish i coulda got a pic of it though

  • umm... if you saw that... and say its not a copper head, i think its time to read a book...

  • I was talking to 'thatboyofmystery'...that's why I said "sounds to me" and not

"looks to me", quit trolling and make sure you know what you're reading next time. bet you can't even tell apart a ribbon snake from a garter snake.

  • i realized that like 20 secs after i hit post coment... but in my defense ive been dealing with snakes scince i was teo and can indeed tell the diffrence of a garter or ribbon snake

  • Seeing this video made me think of the same incident you mentioned, so everyone before you buy a snake or any pet for that matter do research on the animal for its needs/care and as well as knowing what you are getting.

  • these are very hard to see in leaves and are vary sizes tint to humongous. i almost stepped on 2 myself. dam snakes.yellowjackets are bad also. ground holes sting hell outta ya.

  • i realized that like 20 secs after i hit post coment... but in my defense ive been dealing with snakes scince i was teo and can indeed tell the diffrence of a garter or ribbon snake

  • there are rarely ever any fatalities from copperheads

  • you could tell it was pissed

  • If u guys didnt know the smaller copperheads are more poisonis be cuz they bite more

  • great video, very informative. I was at a clients house working in the yard and saw one slithering through the play ground! I didnt have a way to catch it and she(client) was freaking out and offered a .45 S&W it took me four shots! I wanted to make sure it was in fact a copperhead, thanks.

  • We caught one years ago, didn't know what it was, just that it lunged at us and wanted to bite. Awfully pretty snake me and my friends thought. Many years later we went through the reptile house at the zoo and found out it was one of these!!!! LOL! We were a bunch of dumb lucky bastards.

  • those bastards have thick skin, i gotta shoot them with the .22 the bb gun wont work. I honestly dont like killing them but traps are more expensive than a bullet and im worried they will bite my dog or the little kids in my yard. I know the bite wont kill me but it would kill a 3 year old right?

  • beautiful beautiful snake

  • I almost killed on of those bastards with my lawnmower today but it got away =(

  • thats cool video thanks,, nice snake

  • Copperheads are venomous, not poisonous, and it's a mild venom at that.

From 1960 to 1990 only 12 people in the US died from snake bite.

I commend the guy releasing it.

  • not releasing a copperhead is like catching a beautiful yellow lab puppy....... then killing it.

  • Dude. You are seriously confused. You're comparing apples to oranges. Lets think about the difference between a venomous snake and a yellow lab puppy. Which one would you rather have nestled at your feet on a cold winter night or sleeping at your side on a camp out?

  • What the hell is the difference between poison and venom?

  • poison you ingest..venom has to be injected to get into your blood stream...if you drink poison you die if you drink venom you wont die unless you have cuts in your mouth

  • venom(like what all snakes have) will not hurt/kill or take effect if it didnt find a way to go inside the body.

Poison (like what some kinds of frogs have) will take effect by touching it

so venom needs injection, but poison doesnt.

thats why some ppl would drink venom and nothing goes wrong with them...the stomach acids breaks it down...

  • How come it wasn't in a striking position? I work for a camp were I have to catch rattlers and cooper heads, and when we release them, they always in a striking position, never seem one ha was so fond of human interactions....can someone explain this to me? thanks.

  • yes im sure the snakes been here for awhile and used to the kids and adults in its area

  • man i love southerns they're easily the prettiest subspecies out of em all!

  • Great video. My son was interested in a copperhead... Im glad we found your video first, you had a great message to the young ens watching this video.

  • i have a better method laun chair 6 pack of beer and a shot gun just wait for it

  • Maybe you should put down the alcohol and firearms and pick up (last year's) 3rd grade spelling book.

  • Anus! ha. snake anus! ha

  • My dad just found a copperhead about 10 minutes ago!

  • you never showed how to catch a copperhead. we need more details. where you got the trap. did you make the trap? how to make the trap if you did make the trap. how the trap works. throw us a line, here!!

  • Sorry, I couldn't stay out there for an indefinite period of time to catch it actually crawling in. I thought that I explained how to use the trap pretty well, but if you have questions please call us at 800-877-7290 You can order the traps as well, or you can go to the website in the video.

  • butiful pattern but kill its ass

  • man i understand its all nice to let them go where nobody is but if i catch one of thenm bastards i shoot it with the shotgun they are around here and nobody likes em i we purposely hit em if they are in the road

  • The guy was shaking like a leaf (5:10...). He could have hurt the snake with all this shaking. Or maybe he's 80 years old and looks good for his age. Who knows.

  • I noticed that as well after filming. It is really exaggerated since I was holding the hook at one end and filming the other.

  • Nice Work I bought one of these traps a wile ago havent used it yet. But will soon to relocate some snakes.

    I love SNAKES

  • copperheads are in pennsylvania i live in pennsylvania and were i live there everywhere in the summer

  • yeah we got alot of copperheads i n North Carolina

  • I have one of these......in my pants!!!!

    HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!!

  • Hey Please tell me about chopperhead snake have venom please relay to me because i am deaf

  • copperheads do have venom.

  • copperheads are a venemous member of the pit viper family, along with cottonmouths and rattlesnakes. A bite from a copperhead will result in death if you do not seek medical attention.

  • thank you I will be remember about copperhead have venomus I am deaf

  • cool :D

  • A bite from a single copperhead will not kill you. It will suck. You may loose a part of a limb but you won't die. The only copperhead related deaths are from bites from more than one at a time.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah I am deaf that is cool you catch snake I alway learn kind of snakes all time I have corn snake baby at my home but I alway kill snake with vemon too danger

  • i can catch any venom snake in usa but i use to hook or toug and take it into safety cage

  • Being DEAF doesn't make you BLIND! You can STILL use GOOGLE to find the information that you are asking for.

  • Gorgeous snake.

  • i heard there are copperheads in pennsylvania.i go there sometime.better go catch some

  • i live in pennsylvania

  • Thanks for the reply. I didn't know you were in Metro Atlanta. I love to hunt snakes and I'd like to try some of these larger snake traps out.

  • That is a very cool trap. Do you ever catch rattlesnakes with it?

  • I haven't but some of our customers have. There isn't much of a rattlesnake population in Metro Atlanta.

  • you said poisonus in the video the right term is venomous. that is all thank u

  • You are right. The correct term is venomous. I used to make a big deal of it too, but after being worn down by thousands of customers saying poisonous, I have started using the wrong term myself. I'll have to be more conscious of that.

  • My cousin & I use these as target practice!

  • Great video.

  • that snake hook looked a little shaky were u scared ? just grab it behind the head and hold it up to the camera.

  • I hadn't noticed the shaky hook until I you pointed it out. I think it is a little exaggerated because of the length of the hook. At the hand end it wasn't really moving much, other than from me talking. As for grabbing it and holding it behind the head... I'll leave that to you. Look forward to your video of that.

  • This is a nice video but would you please let us know how you made the trap. We have a copperhead in our garden and can figure out from your video how to get a snake into a box or cage but how do you keep it inside? Why doesn't it simply crawl out after eating the frogs?

Also, what is "just mice"? Where do you buy it?

    Thank you for any help.

  • I really don't know how they're made; we sell them through the site that's shown in the video. And we sell the lure used too. Just call the toll free number shown in the video and we'll help.

  • We catch copper heads all the time we handle them in our church services. Jesus said these signs shall follow a believer taking up serpents Mark 16:18

  • how do you make the trap?
