i hate when people say that mariahs newer music is so bad compared to the "old" mariah.. really? all she did was 1. grow up and 2. she changed her style of music to go along with the times, that's called being smart. you can't keep singing 90's music when you are in the 00's, the people just dont want to hear it, and i think mariah did an excellent job at the transition unlike other artists who fell off the map. she's still going strong! @kariryanisabitch: NO. They worked her half to death. No Rest, NOT eating or Sleeping Enough working in the studio long hours. Not able to get away for a minute from those (demanding) around her -led to the minor breakdown in early 2000's. She never had to change who she was after she Divorced Tommy. That was the only way she could get a break; she said it herself. NO one can hold you liable if you sign in to the center for 2-4weeks and was so glad she did. MUCH NEEDED REST SHE SAID.

I feel she just wanted to get away from Tommy, and In order to do so she was pressed to "change" her image to de-sonyfy her so to speak. I think this is the closest projection of who Mariah really is, but she had to say farewell in order to break free from Tommy.

Believe it or not, after the Daydream album was release, Mariah finished her contract with Sony music, and also parted ways with Tommy. (Ex-husband) This is the last song on the last album from sony; I think Mariah knew she was going to have to make image changes, thus leading to a different fan-base. She is saying her sweet good-bye to the fans she made while working with Sony. Personally, I know she said she wanted to "change", but I don't buy that entirely;

He did not want to embrace her being of Mixed Race and wanting to do all sorts of Hip Hop and R&B music. She mentioned this in Many interviews after the Divorce was Final. She wasn't ashame to put it out there.

@zanoases Fair enough. She was young and flirty in 'Dreamlover', I think. I don't care about what she is doing with her image these days. At the end of the day, she's still a multi-millionaire in the music business. She's still so rich beyond what any of us can hope for for ourselves but when I listen to what she's singing to today, I can't help but feel a little let down.
