This is really a brilliant video. Usually I don't like 'tributes' but this one is very very well done. I saw the play when it was on in Stratford as well and I got both my Shakespeare and my DT fix in three beautiful hours. I'm not just saying it because I love him, he was INCREDIBLE as Hamlet!
I would've LOVED to see David in Hamlet. I'm thrilled that they fimed it. Word is that it's finished & it's locked at 3 hrs. 2 min. long. We should know by Sept. when it will be released on DVD. It airs in the UK this holiday season & 2010 in the US but with luck the DVD will be available for Xmas.
I can't wait to see David in the famous red shirt for the "to be, or not to be" scene.
I wonder if they used the real skull of pianist Andre Tchaikowsky like they did on stage?
I was one of the lucky ppl who got to see him/ Last 2 standing seats, it was beyond belief. The stage performance was 3 hr 30 so I hope it's @ least 3 hr 10 cos other wise they will have cut some of David's beautiful performance.
and I saw his famous red T shirt at the RSC Open day exebition. I didn't know it was famous I just thought it was a t shirt tht David Tennant wore.
Words cannot explain how amazing that night was I may have been standing for 3 and 1/2 hours but it was so heavenly. the only good bit of life ever. I love him and was crying for hours when it finished I never wanted it to end.
I do wish Jude Law all the best when he starts Hamlet, but must confess that I did think when I read it ages ago that it would be a really hard act to follow David. (and in fairness, I think prior to the start at Stratford ).
The only horse I have in this race is that I'm a HUGE geek with a little bit of fan girl.
David's acting can be like a black hole, I've seen it suck many of my mates into it happily and they're mostly guys!
Brilliant compilation! I enjoyed that very much. I wish so badly I could have seen him in this part. Ah well, just very happy that David is back and feeling well enough to return to the play! Good on him!!! :D

The pic at 0:20 IS supposed to be an homage to Casper David Friedrich's "The Wanderer Above The Sea" isn't it?
Makes sense I suppose, Hamlet seems to beling to the same kind as the "wanderer".
Anyway, great video!

No, Hamlet isn't just another play, but I can see why he needs to think that.
With Tennant and Stewart, it would be hard to go wrong.

The bard refers to Shakespeare, dear heart - DT is acting as Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, a play, the bard wrote.
