The similarities between thracian and hellenic culture is a fact. Nevertheless thracian culture is distinct from the hellenic. The Goldsmith of the thracians was for example much much more advanced than in ancient greece.

your translation is wrong. Balkan doesnt mean that. Its mean Big, old. Even today we use it as a synonim of a mountain. "Bul" is not the root but "Bulg". your interpretation is wrong at all.
