Not my taste really... I've listened to a lot of both of those bands and cannot get into them even though many view them at the top of the Power Metal genre. I can't explain it, but they're missing something special that I just love about Heavenly. I'm also big on Sonata Arctica, Silent Force, Lost Horizon, Helloween, Moonlight Agony, Into Eternity, and Pyramaze. Keep em on my daily playlist.
@sirchadwick1 well noted, each to his own. Anyway I prefer them cause of these epic lyrics about medival, brotherhood, templars and the likes (and of course cuz of the melodic and vocal parts). Sonata Arctica and Helloween are also great however I've to admit that I didn't hear about the other bands yet. Will definitely check them out and hope that I will just find more awesome power metal.

Heavenly is really great power metal I found them some weeks ago and I can say them being one of the best in this genre. I have huge knowledge of power metal since 80's stuff to this day and know so many bands, good thing I found this band, and I believe there are still many bands to figure out!
I'm not gonna lie, even though I listened to DF for a while, it was actually Nightwish and other symphonic metal bands that eventually led me to power metal.
So I dont understand where Dragonforce is being the commercial leader of power metal, I tried getting friends who were into Dragonforce into more power metal, none of them would listen to it.
I dunno, maybe someone else has a conflicting story and all my friends just suck.

I personally think the electronic elements of this mixing was tastefully done. Dragonforce is more like techno with guitars, whereas this is musically oriented music with electronic assistance. Most of the electronics were on the vocal and rhythm track, anyway.

Then Load and Reload murdered Metallica, and when St. Anger came out I was completely shocked that they would even try something like that. Death Magnetic is a step in the right direction though, if you haven't heard it yet you may want to.

Take a minute to string together a respectful come back if you intend to be taken seriously. DF doesn't suck. They aren't the best, but they are certainly not the worst. (On a side note; I've been listening to DF since Valley of the Damned; 5 years before Guitar Hero) Guitar Hero should be thanked by the Power Metal loving community. While it's possible Dragonforce is getting too much credit, it has also helped expand Power Metal's popularity. Try looking at it from a different perspective.

Look, I know DF aren't great, buts its bands like DF that keep this kind of music alive. Sure, they're not the best, but are by no means the worst. If I had the choice, I would listen to something other than DF, but that doesn't mean they're totally bad. Compare them to R&B or Rap music, and they're still far more talented than most of what those genres call artists. I'm not knocking all R&B/Rap either, its just an example :)

I have to respectfully disagree on Guitar Hero needing a thank you from the Power Metal community though. Inhuman Rampage was easily DF's weakest album, and Ultra Beatdown wasn't much better. We also saw Edguy turn into something not worth listening to, and along with it Avantasia. I'm all for Power Metal remaining mostly underground if that is the result.

You obviously have never actually attended a DF concert. I would never go so far as to say that they are the best Power Metal band, but I would never say that they suck, especially not live. I've been to a DF concert, it was an amazing experience.
All 39 of their songs are excellent, they are great live, and they were actually pretty popular before GH III.
I've had every Drgaonforce song (at the time) before GH III even came out... and I know I'm not alone.
By the way, I can understand why people don't like Dragonforce: it takes a bit more than a feeble mind to truly comprehend what Dragonforce plays... ;)

@SnoodDood correction, without Mustaine, a lot of it wouldn't have existed. As their best one is the first and they've written maybe 2-3 songs without Mustaine on it. Also he's responsible for 2 songs off of ride the lightning and a little more. Mustaine= the evolution of metal, the father's= ozzy and king Diamond. believe it or not even queen played a role as an influence for thrash with stone cold crazy. They're where credit is due. Not those sell outs.
@hatecrew77 I'll admit, that actually is a good point. He pretty much wrote most of Metallica's good stuff, and he was the frontman of another one of the big 4.
But Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Slayer (especially Slayer), AND Metallica had the most influence on modern metal. I don't respect metallica selloutness, but you can't deny their influence. But hey, without metallica, we'd only lose about one metal subgenre (maybe): Sludge Metal.
Well, I would rather say that bands like Budgie, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin did create the metal and have had the greatest influence on modern metal bands. Metallica was highly influenced by Budgie. Just have a look at Breadfan that is a Budgie's cover...
That said, I think that comparing bands to find which one influenced the other has no sense simply because everyone will have a different opinion on the question and because music need influence to continue to exist.

Seriously, I've heard and read a lot of shit about this album. Some people can't understand that power metal is not about being original (of course i'm not blaming originality) but about writing powerful and catchy songs with melodies. There's nothing new in it but it's great the way it is. I love Sign of The Winner!

Take a minute to string together a respectful come back if you intend to be taken seriously. DF doesn't suck. They aren't the best, but they are certainly not the worst. (On a side note; I've been listening to DF since Valley of the Damned; 5 years before Guitar Hero) Guitar Hero should be thanked by the Power Metal loving community. While it's possible Dragonforce is getting too much credit, it has also helped expand Power Metal's popularity. Try looking at it from a different perspective.

@LipstickFlash Have you actually been to see them live? Didn't think so. So stfu. I went to see them live during their final tour in 2009. Anyone who says they can't play live is wrong. There were a couple gigs they played during their earlier rise to fame in which their playing was piss-poor. HOWEVER, we all make mistakes. To be fair, they picked up their performances shortly after, too. I hate how everyone judges DF based on their GH songs and that ONE video showing their poor live performance

Look, I know DF aren't great, buts its bands like DF that keep this kind of music alive. Sure, they're not the best, but are by no means the worst. If I had the choice, I would listen to something other than DF, but that doesn't mean they're totally bad. Compare them to R&B or Rap music, and they're still far more talented than most of what those genres call artists. I'm not knocking all R&B/Rap either, its just an example :)

@Luno666 I've also been listening to DF since before they were cool, since their 5 song demo from MP3.com to be exact. I have to respectfully disagree on Guitar Hero needing a thank you from the Power Metal community though. Inhuman Rampage was easily DF's weakest album, and Ultra Beatdown wasn't much better. We also saw Edguy turn into something not worth listening to, and along with it Avantasia. I'm all for Power Metal remaining mostly underground if that is the result.

You need to listen to some Insania, Gamma Ray, Primal Fear, etc.. (check my channel) if you think dragonforce is "awesome". I don't know what the hype is all about with them, they're fast but the vocals are shit and their overall format is unoriginal.

You obviously have never actually attended a DF concert. I would never go so far as to say that they are the best Power Metal band, but I would never say that they suck, especially not live. I've been to a DF concert, it was an amazing experience.

All 39 of their songs are excellent, they are great live, and they were actually pretty popular before GH III.
I've had every Drgaonforce song (at the time) before GH III even came out... and I know I'm not alone.
By the way, I can understand why people don't like Dragonforce: it takes a bit more than a feeble mind to truly comprehend what Dragonforce plays... ;)

@SnoodDood correction, without Mustaine, a lot of it wouldn't have existed. As their best one is the first and they've written maybe 2-3 songs without Mustaine on it. Also he's responsible for 2 songs off of ride the lightning and a little more. Mustaine= the evolution of metal, the father's= ozzy and king Diamond. believe it or not even queen played a role as an influence for thrash with stone cold crazy. They're where credit is due. Not those sell outs.

@hatecrew77 I'll admit, that actually is a good point. He pretty much wrote most of Metallica's good stuff, and he was the frontman of another one of the big 4.
But Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Slayer (especially Slayer), AND Metallica had the most influence on modern metal. I don't respect metallica selloutness, but you can't deny their influence. But hey, without metallica, we'd only lose about one metal subgenre (maybe): Sludge Metal.

Well, I would rather say that bands like Budgie, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin did create the metal and have had the greatest influence on modern metal bands. Metallica was highly influenced by Budgie. Just have a look at Breadfan that is a Budgie's cover...
That said, I think that comparing bands to find which one influenced the other has no sense simply because everyone will have a different opinion on the question and because music need influence to continue to exist.

@FollowBaneFTW naw. They were one of the first real thrash bands. They were one of the big 4, and the big 4 created death metal, which was originally thrash with different vocals. And every genre (except power metal) spawned from oldschool death metal, and power metal spawned from thrash, which is what the big 4 were.

Seriously, I've heard and read a lot of shit about this album. Some people can't understand that power metal is not about being original (of course i'm not blaming originality) but about writing powerful and catchy songs with melodies. There's nothing new in it but it's great the way it is. I love Sign of The Winner!
