Mind-bendingly, staggeringly good. Jimi was a unique combination of technical skill, artistic flare, and a depth of passion that simply has not been seen to this day since his passing and I doubt ever will be.
The highlight of the second Berkeley show IMO. Jimi uses a simple blues pattern and changes it into a sonic journey similar to some free jazz (Albert Ayler or Archie Sheep).
Nazis discrimanetde jews, usa black people until the sixties, and the soviets put evrybody in camps who didn't tolerate the system. they even used german concntrationcamps for it!!!
"and dedicated to the other people that might be fighting wars within themselves, not facing up to the realities" july of 2009 and it couldn't be said any better.
and still today. Will we ever learn? The world leaders of today are like kindergarten children next to such a simple philosophy from a guitarist. I mean common!
All who either were part of the military engaged in war at Vietnam OR were protesting the war are American Patriots.
Warriors of soldiers and protesters who suffered indignities and/or injuries because of that war are American Heroes
God Damn the Mcnamara's who who after leading the nation astray in self-inflicted wounds could only whimper an apology: if he had eaten a bullet, he would have earned self-respect & his apology of deed accepted
You should watch "The Fog of War: Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara". He is surprisingly frank in admitting total US misunderstanding of events in Vietnam; misinterpreting a national independence struggle as communist aggression.
Whatever McNamara's mistakes were in Vietnam, his handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis with Kennedy was superb. The US naval blockade was the stick, while the carrot was to agree to remove US Pershing missiles from Turkey.

Holy shit @ 3:50. He's the best I've ever heard at getting his emotions and feelings across and translated perfectly through his guitar.
