Mato Tipila (Bears Lodge) is revered by more than half a dozen Indian Tribes. This is the reason rock climbing was "banned" during the month of June. Of course it wasn't really banned, the park just requested that no one climb, however, it was simply up to the individual.

i'm going there this summer! But it's about 700-800 ft. high and i'm afraid of heights so idk if i'll climb it and i've never climbed before.

Statistically speaking, there are far, far, more people that die from a fall around the home than ever "die" pursuing a climb like this.... The state of the technology and climbing capabilities are much more advanced than you apparently have the foggiest notion of. But then again, the world needs all of us...armchair commandos and all... Sweet, I climbed in yellowstone years back (not El Capitain), Im wondering how long did this climb take. Also, in climbing, isnt it great, 2 points of contact always, unless your sleeping, 1 contact point for the tent, lol.
