  • Recurves > scythians > longbows > flatbows > compounds.

  • I have to watch all of these been thinking about getting a bow. Thanks for the information.

  • I also want to start off shooting finger release so i can master that first, but friends who bow hunt are telling me to just start off with a wrist caliper release and D Loop.... I tried their set ups and dont particularly like it.. If i do get a release i was thinking it would be better to learn with a Stanlawoski back tension release so i dont learn to anticipate the release.... They tell me those are not good "Hunting" releases... yet cant tell me exactly why they believe that?..

  • Great video, hit many of the questions im having about shooting a compound instinctive.... One question, Where is the rest of this ?... Im a newby to archery, but ive been shooting rifles and handguns for over 20 years now... I recently scored a screaming deal on lightly used Oneida Black Eagle and im wondering if i will hamper my ability to learn instinctive shooting if you start out using pin sights and peep...

  • Hey guy i thought i waz the only one who shot ground hogs wiyh my bow untill i watch you guys a couple of years ago on the outdoor chanel...keep up the good work!

  • thanks brother!!!! keep up the support...and the shooting of ground hogs :)

  • Man this is Freakin' Awesome! Keep it Reallllll.

  • Thanks Man!!!! Keep Watching!!!!!

  • Awesome video. I have shot my compound bow for years with sights and recently started shooting it without pins and a peep sight. I love the better field of view you get with that stuff removed. It takes practice to be sufficient with it but doesn't everything. Keep on making these instinctive videos because they are a great help.

  • do you have to anchor? i just got into archery and the cabellas guy helping me set up my pse thought i would be back to get sight put in my bow afetr i told him i want to shoot fingers, haha, he was wrong

  • do you have to anchor? i just started doing this and the cabellas guy thought i would be back asking im to put sights on my pse, but i think instinctive is much more rewarding when you make the shot

  • i have no quarrel with compound bows but i find it much more satisfying to shoot a longbow with arrows that i've made including either steel heads that i forge or flint and glass heads that i knap

  • We LOVE Traditional Equipment, too! We LOVE IT ALL!!! We've got a TV Show Coming in the next couple weeks, that's ENTIRELY DEDICATED TO TRADITIONAL EQUIPMENT!!!

Parts of it will be posted here on our TF YouTube Channel, after it airs on TV! Visit our Website for more information :) Thanks for watching and commenting!!!

  • Thanx Dudes!!!!!

  • Im a lifelong instinctive/ finger shooter that just bought a mathews drenalin ld this past season. I bought it thinking it was a long enough bow. The problem was I had to switch to a release because the string kept rolling off the bottom suppressor every shot. Have you had to deal with that? I do have to say I hated the release at first but got used to it. I still love shooting fingers with my old bow though. Keep up the sweet footage!

  • I have a mathews ovation, perfect for instinctive finger shooting.

  • Michigan produces some of the best hunters. I cant wait for the next video.

  • You guys are great!!!

  • I'm so looking forward to seeing Part 2 of Instinctive Shooting! I've been watching Dan and Guy Fitzgerald since the Down for the Count video that started it all. Their instinctive shooting ability is amazing and is something I've always wanted to master. Slow but sure, I'm developing my instinctive technique. It's a little difficult right now where I need a bow with a shorter draw length. I also have a touch of target panic. I'm working on it though.

  • Thanx for the props, Friend! Part 2, coming soon!!!

  • you guys are awsome, I live in clinton township mich, I've come a LONG way in terms of common sense hunting, and shooting because of you guys, insticive shooting is been my goal now for about for about 2 years now, though I'm not confident enough too take a critter yet, I thank you guys for instilling that aspect in my shooting regiment, soon to be passed down to my son, (once I'm comfortable enough to!!!) but thanks and the boss hoss will always fly on my truck, Don.

  • Why not just go all the way and shoot traditional?

I do commend you for shooting with fingers and no sights though...good shooting..

  • We DO Shoot Long Bows & Recurves, too :) That's how we got started. We have some Traditional Segments Coming Soon, as well! Thanks for the Support & Kind Words, Friend! -GF

  • Dan and guy fitzgerald father and son team is totally awesome and the good thang is only archery.

  • Thanks Guys, for your Enthusiasm and Support down through the years! Glad you have greatly enjoyed this Instinctive Shooting Segment!

Part TWO of this Series, PLUS More New Team Fitzgerald Stuff coming to YOUTUBE & to a Hunting Channel Near You, in 2009!!!! Subscribe to Stay Tuned!! See Ya!

  • Awesome work Guy. Thanks for keepin it real.

  • cool!!!

i'm waiting for a long time for the part 2 now. instinctive finger shooting with an compound is the real thing! the perfect combination of speed, power and skills. sights and releases take away too much of the traditional archery-feeling and traditional bows are too slow or need an extreme high draw-weight and many years of training, to be effective for the hunt.

hope to see your part 2 soon.

  • Guy, this is great stuff! I like your words about finger-shooting; are there any compounds that are BAD for finger-shooting? I just can't get used to a release. Why are the newer-style bows not allegedly "friendly" to this? I'm a newbie to this, and I'm not ready to give up my shooting glove just yet. Thanks!

  • Man this brings back memories of watching you and your dad hunting..i met you a long time ago at a 3d archery tournament..i was like 7 at the time..but you guys are the reason that i started bow hunting

  • Guy awesome video. Ive been watching you guys since I was a kid. What do you and your dad recommend for bow let off? Do you guy use your back muscles AKA back tension?

  • i havent been bow hunting long but ive always had that "itch" to shoot instinctive. like dan fitzgerald, Fred Bear, etc.. it seems such a "natural" way to hunt! cant wait for other videos

    long time fan

  • it doesnt matter what you shoot or how you shoot it as long as the arrow goes where you want it and your happy and comfortable with your setup plain and simple.

  • word up, g!

  • i agree, for most folks, modern day equipment is best for accuracy, and i do not in any way, wish to discourage that. to each, his or her own! i, too, shoot a recurve and a long bow! we just have so many thousands of folks that ask to be taught how to shoot instinctively with modern day compounds, that we put these clips together to help the folks that have asked, how to get started and on their way to hopefully successful instinctive shooting with modern day bows!

  • right on brother! i picked up an old pse nova thats team fitz edition. at the pawn shop last year. took a doe and buck during bow season. im all gizzed up ready to go for another round this year. good luck to all you bowhunters this year

  • Thats crazy how you can shoot like that. Id like to learn more. Post up some more videos on the aiming, when you get around to it. Thanx
