  • i've always hated line 6 products

  • fractal

  • i have a pod hd desktop and i need to use my headphones alot. But i think the sound changes alot when i use my phones. why? :(

  • People who don't like these obviously don't have children therefore don't have a need to record direct so as not to wake children/wife by miking a live amp.

  • I'll be honest, I don't like either... The line 6 is uber digital and the fractal is... Well I dunno. I've never like amp modeling.

  • POD HD 500 all the way! I wouldnt waist my time with the smaller units, 300-400. The 500 has way more options, programming, and can run more effects at a time. Always thought digital effects were crap and clung to my Mesa (beautiful tubes) and pedal board. After getting the HD 500 I only use that and plug straight into the house system xlr and use the mesa for stage noise via the effects loop return. O YA!

  • Damn the Powerball on the Axe-fx sounded tasty!

  • Ford Fusion vs. Schevy Camaro SS

  • @N1ckUs chevy*

  • @hardyrulez96 oh shi~. Thanks

  • Does anyone have one of these? I'm lookin' to buy one for my marshall half stack and Ibanez RG7321 and I've heard good and bad about them.

  • Can you plug the POD HD directly into a cab and use it as an amp?

  • @Ibanez3x no, you need some sort of amp head/power amp to power the cab. You can plug the pod into the back of the amp head though and just use the tone from the pod, but you definitely need some sort of power amp/amp head

  • The tones you dial in on the POD are fantastic, are your patches available for download anywhere?

  • if they where the same price I'd probably go with fractal , since they're not and the difference isn't enough for me to drop 1000-2000$ minimum on a processor. I'd rather go with a real Mesa, real Engl .. whatever you're into.

  • @JYZProductions yeah. but in that case you would only have 1 amp...

  • @guitarramaniacx true , but with the processors I've owned in the past I found myself only using a couple of different settings, having the lets say 100+ amps means they'll all sound the same as would the effects even to trained ears was my experience unless you over analyze it.

the advantage to a real amplifer tube, solid state.. ect is that it'll sound legitimate "mic-ed" up professionally.. not all fake, digital and compressed. But in the end go what works for you

  • Here's the difference. In studio work you want something with power. The Axe is a professional hunk of hardware for professional Musicians. The Pod is a consumer product. Give the Axe to someone who can actually use it and you will hear much better results. Out of all the Axe FX videos on youtube this one sounds really bad. Before you make a "Comparison" please learn the product much better.

  • @2020jonnybravo care to do your own review?

  • Im digging the Fractal Axe FX more, My friend has a Line6 and with my personal taste in tone the Line has too much high end, to tinny for my liking. This other peddle has a nice beefyness to it, and I can always dial in some mids and highs on the head if needed. Thanx for the vid, kudos.

  • I actually like the fireball better on the pod, the other two are just no contest tho to me. The axe fx is just incredible, particularly the rectifier sound.

  • I appreciate Fearedse's videos, but they're all amp comparisons with "rhythm tones". I want to hear some lead tones. Super high gain patches.

  • I heard 'Stand' by Devin Townsend, could be just a coincidence though happens alot.

  • alot of the axe fx settings dont have enough mids and too much lows

  • @jmatotek216 that all comes down to personal preference, i'm sure he would of just as easily added mids and cut the lows.

  • Comment removed

  • The Recs: Axe FX. The Bogners: Line 6. The Engls: Definitely Axe FX. Just my opinions.

  • greetings from GREECE MAN WE LOVE YOU

  • the AXE FX just anally abused the line 6 sorry to any line 6 lovers i used to love line6 but then i found mesa XD

  • I like that you've done this. I just bought the HD500 as I don't have Axe FX style cash, and I will be touring with it, so we'll see how we go. This gives me some hope. I'll be using the Marshall mods quite extensively.

  • the fractal sounds beautiful but lets just say it ain't exactly putting line 6 out of business

  • i can buy a line 6 pod hd and get the same sound of the fractal by simply eq'in it

  • @TFCFredNVick maybe the regular axe-fx, but no way in hell can it imitate the sounds of an axe-fx II..and as far as i'm concerned when it came to the Powerball setting the axe-fx kills the line 6 easily.

  • @4blackout

Well, while I agree that this Axe Ultra is the best digital modeling processor(aside from Axe II) and that it is better than the pod, but it is nowhere near worth the amount of money they are charging for it.

  • @flyhi94 given everything it does, yes, it is worth the money.

  • hey dude first of all i must express my thanks for your cool videos, they ve been more than helpfull many many times.and a question:do you actually own all of these expensive amps pedals etc?or do you rent them for the needs of your tests?keep up the good work,

  • @dimitrismaster pou les re den einai dika t ta daneizete kanei t review kai meta ta dinei pisw

  • @4blackout

How do you come to that conclusion?

  • Fractal sound way deeper and darker

  • axe fx ii with firmware 3.04 slays everything !

  • I would...take both and mix them together, they both have excellent parts.

  • fractal all day.

  • Both sound good but the fractal is a little darker in tone

  • Why wont you compare the best pod HD to the Axe Fx

  • @MickBull094 The HD 300, 400, & 500 have the exact same amp models. Unless you plan to use it live, save the money and buy the smaller unit.

  • I actually like the line 6 on this one..... Might be saving coin

  • WOW - they both sound a heck of a lot like processed trash. I thought these were supposed to sound like real amps?

  • Comment removed

  • superman approved :D

  • Wow, the pod hd wins on this video! We'd all love £2000 for an Axe FX, but at a quater the price, the pod hd wins! I'm not saying the pod hd will ever beat the axe fx, but think about it, even the rackmount version is roughly one-quater the price. That speaks volumes for line 6.

  • With a little better EQing, these would sound much more similar.

  • the AXE FX sounds a pretty muddy in comparison

  • @mechanismtrance Exactly, I was just about to say that as well. I don't know if it's his EQ settings when recording or something but the Axe FX sounds HORRIBLY muddy. If all other conditions were identical I'd pick the Pod.

  • plz do a review for eleven rack or a vs with axe fx or with pod hd

  • Have you tryed the pro tools eleven rig? How bout checkn out blackmagic designs for audio cards. Desk teck 3dhd I think is the one. 900 and sream 2 hd imputs of uncompressesd forfilmn 3d porn while you edit 3d animation and record 50 channels of uncompressed 32 bit 197khz hd audio via thunder bolt to what ever daw ever. You could filmweddings to pay for it

  • i think the pod hd 300 ubershall sounded the best imo

  • thnx a lot man! just one more question. If I have a really great cab, would it be more suitable not to use a cab on the pod and use it like a head?

  • i was wondering how do you play live with htese modelers. for example if you have a full preset loaded, with amp and cab, how do you plug it to the amp in the gig?

  • @wave2sound you can go to "return" channel amp or direct to mixer...

  • @guitdude09 kk

  • How many Axe-Fx cultists here! Are you going to get the coupons any quicker by "spreading the word"?

  • the pod has an awesome low end sound but there is a little bit of white noise, the notes on the Fractal Axe FX sounds much cleaner and defined

  • I own the POD HD300 and the sounds Axe Fx's better.

  • Axe FX sounds more real. Sounds like your in the room with a quality amp. Pod sounds like a direct digital recording. The only thing about this comparison that I have to say is, Pod isn't meant for live performances where Axe is.

  • POD sounds good, but there's still that scratchy digital artifact that AxeFx manages to completely rid of. AxeFx definitely sounds more organic and real to my ears. Let's not forget that the dynamic, tube-like touch sensitivity is not shown here, which is where the Axe absolutely slays.

Is AxeFx worth 5 times POD? I'd say no. But is there an alternative? Nope. If you want the best, you have to pay for it. There's a reason AxeFx sells like hotcakes despite the hefty price tag.

  • Axe Fx sounds like absolute ass.

  • Axe Fx always sounds a little more "djenty", it's like that amp made a whole new genre ^^

  • What's the best hd 500 or pod pro hd rack ????

  • @narukiki internals are the same, but the HD rack adds more IO (ie dry out) which is good if you ever want to reamp.

  • @R1ronin But what's is the easiest way to record on pc or mac The rack or not ?

  • @narukiki they both just as easy... plug usb in and go direct... not much easier then that ;) ...if you ever want to reamp then get the rack, if that or form factor is not important, get the 500.. it's cheaper. but in the end, the ease of use between the two units is identical.

  • @narukiki And can i put this (rack or pod) directly in a speaker ?

  • I liked the POD HD Uberschall better. Rectifiers sound good in both maybe i would prefer the Axe fx and the ENGL is way better in the Axe FX . Bottom line is they are both good, too good in fact. They have different capabilities and huge difference in price but they appeal to defferent buyers too.

The POD HD 500 is incredible value for your money.

  • The Axe clips sound better in all instances. Much more hifi clarity to their sound. The POD clips sound muddy by comparison.

  • Wow, honestly I was in the other room when I put this video on and I kind of thought they all sounded bad, but I thought the first of each clip was better except for the last one. So I figured that you did axe first, pod second, then I realized you didn't. I also couldn't tell what model it was besides I thought the first one was a recto, none of these are really faithful to the amps at all. I've owned all of them and still have an uber and recto

  • Hey do you have those patches uploaded? They sound awesome.

  • No doubt the Axe Fx is better and for what I 've heard the axe fx 2 is even so! But I can see that the price difference is huge and if you're not planning to record proffecionally the pod hd will do the work just fine. I just don't know if i could sleep at nights knowing that the axe fx 2 exists....GRRRRRRR!

  • Just buy an equalizer, and you'll save more than $1500... problem Axe FX??? ... it's an assrape

  • Damn, Gain is a bit ridiculous. Sounds like fuzz. I think the axe fx sounds better. and, no, I didnt get raped for 2,500 yet. The line 6 sounds so... artificial, if that's a good way to describe it.

  • Ola, you should make a metal shootout between these two units: Axe Fx II vs. POD HD Pro.

  • Rectifier or Powerball

  • I bet if you tweak a bit, you can get to make both sound the same... The only difference is that some people are dumb enough to pay extra $2000 difference for nothing.

  • i was rootin for the pod but i think the axe sounds better. but either way.. the pod hd pro that just came out is a good deal so even if i had the money for an axe fx i would probably still get the pod.

  • lol, when i listen this with head phones i would go with line6 and with speakers axe. fuck me please

  • in my opinion axe fx has just more low end. add a bass line and you won't hear the difference.

  • Axe FX definately sounds more real although the Pod HD sounds really good as well, but my golden ear can hear that the Axe FX is closer to the real thing.

Actually, it sounds to me like these are both the same box using different modeling algorithms. ? And BTW, the best amp modeling I've heard by FAR was a free VST plugin written by some college students that uses 64 bit floating point throughout.

  • AXE sounds better,Onwers of the Pod will disagree because they will never admit they cant afford $2,500.

  • @Exalle I can admit both are good. because I can't afford them both ^_^

  • @Exalle You are correct. The Axe does sound better, as it should. However, "owners" of the Pod will not disagree because of financial troubles.

I refuse to pay two grand for a rack or floor modeling unit. Why? Because with that same amount of money, I could purchase an actual tube amp and achieve the sound I'm working for...which is exactly what I did.

Bottom line, when Fractal offers a product under a grand, I'll be first in line. Until then, Line 6 will continue to dominate the market.

  • @bradnc1988 sure, if you know exactly what tone you want, go right ahead and get your tube amp. But i want to be able to play with my tone, have all the effects built in the unit, and make it easily portable.

  • @Exalle What? It doesn't take two grand to "play with my tone". It takes a quick trip to the local music store and a little patience. FYI Im a huge fan of the Axe, but not the price. I'm well aware of the advantages of the unit. Your preaching to the choir if your trying to convey which is better. Both have their purpose. As for effects, there is an arsenal of affordable floor units that match the quality of the Axe. If you've got the money to spend, go for it. But there is cheaper alternatives.

  • @bradnc1988 I give up, you win. Enjoy your glorious tube amp and 400 stomp boxes.

  • @Exalle You missed my point completely. I own a modeling unit and a tube amp. Like I said before, both have their purpose. Nowhere did I state it took any stomp boxes. Apparently you haven't read. I apologize for being rude, but I was not aware I was talking to a sarcastic child.

Enjoy your Axe. I won't respond to another idiotic comment. Take care.

  • @Exalle I will very gladly admit that I can't afford £2500. Hell, I can't even afford the £400 for the new pod

  • @Exalle I like the POD better but I could still easily afford the AXE, where does that leave me?

  • @TheEternalLeader it leaves you with that group of people who either a. don't hear or haven't heard or refuse to hear the full potential of an Axe Fx (See Periphery or obZen by Meshuggah) b. Are judging the Axe and the POD just by this video, c. Have little or no experience in production or sound/music engineering or d. Are a POD fanboy. If you aren't any of those people, then you're POD must be one of a kind in the universe and if so, you are one lucky spender.

  • @SASPython Either you are an A) AXE fanboy. B) Person that refuses to acknowledge people with different tastes than you. C) Are a troll. D) Don't know what you're talking about. or maybe you're none of these and you have the ears of a god and I am dumb and need someone else to tell me what sounds good to me. ( I try to joke with these people and what do I get? What can I expect from the internet though, right? )

  • @SASPython sorry i wasn't trying to come off rude, like I said, this video doesn't represent the best of either device. I'm not trolling, and I'm no axe fanboy, I have to make do with a Line 6 GX so I'm not complaining. But my friend has an Axe Fx Ultra, and I can get a better tone out of that in 10 minutes than i can out of a Line 6 product and a bunch of vsts in 1 month. Just my experience.

  • @SASPython What. The. Hell. Your comparing the Gx to the Axe? No wonder your so naive. The HD series was completely revamped. The Gx does not represent the quality of the HD line up in any shape or form. I'm not sure where your logic is going, but it can't be very far considering you replied to your own comment.

I'll lay this straight..again. Line 6 is the best value, the Axe is the best sound. If your willing to dish 2 grand for a modeling unit, just buy a damn tube stack and do it right.

  • @bradnc1988 I'm not comparing a gx to the axe.you need to calm down,I'm not trying to offend or hate on Line 6 and their fans. Are you not getting this...I LIKE LINE 6.I'm not talking about value,I'm talking about sound, and the Axe Fx,isn't just a bit better than Pod HD,its a hell of a lot better, and this video,as much as it has good intentions, isn't the best representation of either. Line 6 is great for home stuff, but for that professional tone, Axe fx blows it out ot the water

  • @SASPython Well actually, you did. I could rephrase it, but theres obviously no point with you. Theres no doubt which unit sounds better, and I couldn't have made that any clearer the first time. So thanks for restating what I've already said. Truthfully, you lack the credibility to say which is better considering you still own the Gx. I have used both and own one. I never stated your dislike of Line 6. READ!

Maybe you should calm down, and take the time to fully read my response. Take care.

  • @bradnc1988 nope, i said, I could make do with a GX, so Im not going to go about complaining about line 6 being crap. What Im saying is, I have the lowest of the low, and I'm still very happy, because I can still get a decent ENOUGH tone out of it. I dont know why you're getting so defensive. I've used a Pod HD 300, and a HD 500, a UX2, a GX and an Axe Fx Ultra(the benefits of working at a music store aye?)It's like you're looking for an argument? You got way too in depth. Axe > PodHD

  • @SASPython I've stated two times that the Axe has better sound, and your still arguing with yourself. You have STILL failed to read. Not once have I been defensive.

Since your talking background, maybe my degree in audio engineering will put you in perspective. Working in a music shop is as meaningless as working in a grocery store. Your an opinionated salesman, not a critic. There is a hell of a difference. Your blocked for your own stupidity. READ! Have fun arguing with yourself buddy.

  • @SASPython Who the fuck are you preaching to? We all know the Axe is better, but not all of us want to dump two grand in a modeling unit! Go buy a god damn tube amp and stop bickering like the woman you are. F.Y.I. stupidass, I work in a music store and that does not, by any means, make your opinion better than the most mediocre musician. I get paid on commission, so I sell whatever bullshit the customer is willing to buy. So that reference is complete shit. Keep trying. I'm enjoying this.

  • @RulesBlackOps I'm failing to see why you're getting angry,I'm not offending anyone & I'm not raging.I didn't say that I knew more because I worked at a music store,I said that one of the great things about working there is that you can try out cool gear.I'm not looking for an argument, and I apologized for sounding rude in my first post. This video, I'll say again, isn't about the price of things,it's about the sound. Disregard the price, and you find that the Axe is the better unit

  • @SASPython @RulesBlackOps

I thought the sound of POD beared a little more clarity, though I know the Axe FX is 100x more practical and teems with more features, yo my question to you 2 guys; I'm looking to change my live set-up, saw a band recently who played Axe FX straight into Active speakers and sound quality was ridiculously good, bear in mind I'm looking to do something similar but I'm not looking for a mountain of FX either, should I buy a POD HD for $300 or fork out the $3300 for axfx

  • @laaaaambofgod ultra's are 1200$ in ebay

  • @laaaaambofgod buy an POD HD500... Fractal sound MUCH BETTER but it cost ten times more... and it doesnt sound ten times better ;)

  • @Exalle you are right! im still amateur... when i become pro... ill get Axe fx...

  • man are you using impulses for the pod hd???

  • i think axe fx sounds more brutal

  • intro music is badass

  • To be fair, I would buy the POD as Line 6 haven't failed me yet, my ex friend had an Axe Fx and was obsessed with it, saying that he was going to sell all his amps and just run the Axe Fx through the PA and I thought "You do that and you will lose your balls" (balls as in body and depth, guitar wise)

  • The fireball and powerball both sound fucking huge.

  • They both sound good, but if you're talking best value? line 6 all the way. I think the axe-fx sounds a tiny bit closer, however not $2000 closer lol and like said already the average joe won't be able to tell. If you're willing to spend that extra $2000 for a tiny bit of difference then more power to ya, but not I

  • @gary1976us

Tiny bit difference ? Are u mad ?

  • @miguelbaptista well tiny bit compared to the price tag. If I had to put the difference in price then the difference in them would be worth a couple hundred $ more but not a couple thousand $ more but in actuality i guess it's worth what someone would pay for it. To me? not even close to what they charge. If a house is appraised at $300,000 but someone's only willing to pay $100,000 then thats all it's worth. Goes the other way too, if the consumers willing to pay more than its worth more.

  • @gary1976us I saw an original vintage 1958 Gibson Les Paul Sunburst, appraised at $25,000. I am only willing to pay a dollar. Guess that's all it's worth right? lol

  • @metallica5252 well if NOBODY is willing to pay more than $1 than I guess that's all it's worth, you can't go off of just 1 costumer obviously, if he holds out long enough someone may pay that for it. If he's trying to sell it and nobody buys, than how is that $25,000 guitar worth anything other than the dust it collects? If he then drops his price to say $20,000 and someone buys, then that's what it was worth

  • Line 6 wins!

    1. It's cheeeeeeeaper

    2. The recto sounds so much brutal ;)

  • the POD fireball setting sounds nothing like it. The rest were good though

  • The POD (which I own myself) sounds better with Rectifier and Uberschall, but the Axe FX sounds best with Fireball :)

  • After lots of trial and error I found that the things I like are not the best. Most of us prefer beer to champagne anyway.

  • @jacktheguitarman .I don't need to ask feardse..I have had tons of tube amps, some real nice high end ones. The Pod has a pretty realistic tone and feel.,and very flexible. If you want to spend a ton of money for a tube amp that has one or two basic sounds,cool...all I am saying is that Most people, besides your guitar playing buds, would never know the difference in sound..and once again a digital or tube amp is just a tool..the main thing is to make some music with soul, and these are just tools !

  • @fmdangelo,

    Well put man!

I'm still learning how to use my FAS Axe-FX II, but once I really understand it (at guru level...hopefully - LOL!) it'll be cool to know that I can then just enjoy using such powerful TOOLS!

BTW, Ola has proven over-and-over that one's ears, hands, talent, brains, etc are FAR more imprtant than the tools themselves! Ola is an OUTSTANDING metal guitarist/composer/producer/engineer!

    Fucking BROO-TAL!!!

  • hd500 has no mark series amps , nor does the new hd pro rack

  • So... just making sure... no impulses here... correct?

  • @BarrMazda if theres no impulses here its pod all the way! iv been waiting for that answer for ages now :/

  • nup. axe fx pwns. even though this is just the first ax fx standard, it fucking pwns.

  • Anybody who can't tell the HD500 sounds better is just in denial. It has a realism to it that the Axe FX just doesn't.

  • fuck this digital world i will never buy into it. GO TUBE OR GO HOME!!!

  • @guitdude09 what is there to ask about? Listen to the clip man.

  • there is a big difference between these two things but remember that the axe fx is something like 000$ more than the POD. the pod still sound great, i'm gonne buy to myself a x3 pro, but the axe fx sound real bad ass. You just need something like 2500$ to got it

  • powerball! fuck me!

  • The POD sounds really good!

  • I can't decide between the 2. I would like an Axe FX, but the POD seems to sound pretty close and a LOT cheaper. Is the axe FX that much better that I should save for it or should I get a POD?

  • @Zephor Well dude I have an Axe Fx standard and as much as I love it, HD500 does work great especially in Ola's hands so it really is a matter of how you tone shape it. I think Axe Fx has more routing and tone shaping options but the HD500 is cheaper. I say if you like the HD500 more power to you bro.

  • @guitdude09 lol, in that case its a major third.... :P

  • Can't see $2,000.00 worth of difference between the Fractal and the Line 6 anywhere. I've been using Line 6 for years, just got the HD 500 a couple of months ago and it is a giant leap forward from the Live XT, which I used to think would never be surpassed. I run the HD-500 to the effects return of a Line 6 Bogner amp which only accesses the power amp section. So I get the warmth of tube power combined with the accuracy of the modeled amps and effects. I won't be lugging my Mesa to gigs anymore

  • @BluePRSDude Smart dude. :)

  • @fottolini I thank you! I got nothing against the Fractal, other than the price. I like my low maintenance rig. I'm outta there 15 minutes after the final note of a gig. That is a big selling advantage to my thinking.

  • In order to understand how good and real the axe fx sounds and feels you have to play with one.

  • @kostismv Philosophical... I had 2 Ultras and still believe it is way overpriced and not that good. All this hype is not justifiable.

  • @fottolini look it may be overpriced but it sounds great and it feels like a real analog amp. There is nothing digital that feels like a real amp, including the line 6 hd series.

  • @kostismv Well... I have to disagree. The Axe-Fx has more features and tweaking capabilities than the Pod HD? Yes. Does it mean it sounds, feels and behaves like a real analog amp? No. Anyway... That is just my opinion.

  • @fottolini the way that an analog amp feels when you play with it has nothing to do with its features and its tweaking capabilities. the pod feels like a modeller and not like a real amp while the axe fx feels like a real tube amp, not because of its tweaking capabilities but because of its quality. that's why it is so close to the real thing because it feels like the real thing

  • @kostismv I guess I did not explain myself correctly. You don't have to spend hours working on a tube head to get a decent tone, but on the Axe you have to spend a large number of hours to get something close to a real tube amp, and a fraction of that time to get the same sound/same quality (some say even better quality) on a Pod HD. And still none of them sounds, feels and behaves like the real thing.

  • @fottolini yes you are right but with axe fx you can have the sound and the feeling of many expensive tube amps with the price of one (or two) heads. to be honest i also think that it is overpriced but what i think and i'm trying to say is that a comparison between a pod and an axe fx is pointless because they are two different things and were made for different purposes.

  • The baby lost his sock xD

  • POD sounds better,Onwers of the Ave Fx will disagree because they will never admit they got ass raped $2,500.

  • @cast390 - Go listen to the Diezal, the Randall, the Tiny Terror......guess what.....they're all kind of the same. Now, come back and listen to this clip at ;17 seconds in. It's the AxeFx, and it sounds as dark as those amps...and the POD does NOT. HOWEVER, if you listen to this clip The Pod comes in first, then the AXEFX, and I agree with you, it initially does sound better...know why?? scooped mids trick. All the Axe owner has to do is pull down 500k, 1kh....Ta Da! that's scooped mids.

  • @cast390 HA! COOL man!

  • @cast390 having heard both in person axe-fx is definitely more true to the amps it models.

  • @cast390 Actually my friend, I don't own either of the units and can say that the Axe Fx ass rapes the POD, its probably mostly to do with the PODS shitty ass Cab sims though. But the new Axe Fx II absolutely annihilates the POD.

  • @forestofrencho I still think they are ridiculously overpriced tho.

  • @cast390: It sounds better to you because you are the kind of guy who relies on presets. You can't afford the Axe Fx and even if you had one, you wouldn't know how to dial it in. Noob.

  • @XSDarkMoonZX Can't afford one?I could buy and sell your bitch ass 10xs over,You have no clue who you are talking to.So shut your pie hole cheese dick.Presets? I didnt know the HD 500 came with presets named "Olas Rectifier",Olas Uber",and "Olas Fireball".

  • @cast390: You mad bro?

  • I own a Mesa Mark III, Mesa Recto, Marshall Vintage Modern, Marshall DSL and a Peavey Ultra (all tube amps) but..... I still play my POD HD500 and POD X3 hard out. At the end of the day no matter what I play through I still sound exactly the same. I love my PODs for their downright ease of use and versatility that I would otherwise struggle to get from any of the single amps in my arsenal. The Fractal is nice but not worth the 5x $ price tag IMHO

  • The POD has a real rawness to it that the Fractal lacks. In reality when you're cranked up to 100 dB part of the mix during a live performance with heaps of gain and drums and bass guitar it doesn't really matter anymore. At that volume non of this ABing comparison really matters.

  • Axe FX sounds way too scooped and woolly .. IMO.

Line6 sounds a BIT dry, but add some good EQ-ing and a bit of reverb and you're good.

Both sound crap compared to tubes. :)

  • Why are you all goin on about the HD500 when this is clearly the HD300, Numpties.

  • Line 6 stuff always sounds very harsh to me. The axe fx is softer and less "brittle" sounding...
