Well now that the MLK bomb is over and did about as well as I figured it would - not that it was bad, but similiar to what I original predicted - I hope people will get on board with Payday.
Too bad more people didn't listen to your advise. At this point, the MLK Day money bomb is going to bomb. So far only 9000 people have signed up and the goal is 100,000. The press is going to be all over this. Unfortunately, good intentions sometimes do more harm than good.
Yes, but the die is cast and we have no choice now but place all our eggs in the freeatlast basket(at least as far as funding the offical campaign anyway). I tried to turn the tide, but worry that my initial analysis still holds. Lets hope everyone will prove me wrong.
Who said the next money bomb won't be more than any of the ones before. We have to give more money. I propose that for every dollar you donate, you pass out thee slim jims and knock on as many doors as dollars you donated. FACE to FACE people. Works just as good if you know what your talking about.
I do such things, I knocked on over 70 doors and had conversations and handed literature to over 60 potential voters today in Michigan. We must do what we can, but also support the official campaign.
How come I can't post my personal opinions in Hilary's videos?? Its like silencing the public and I think its very wrong. Sorry this is off topic but her videos get bad ratings but she has only but good comments allowed in the pages. Its rigged, which really isn't patriotic at all.
Ron Paul's Pay Day is a grave error especially in the light of Super Tuesday and a recent campaign release, and I have to say it : common sense. Please watch my video response where I explain why. Time is short.
Please show me a date for a Moneybomb that the Ron Paul community is getting behind that will generate money in time to be used before Super Tuesday. If not, then may I suggest the 11th or 18th Paydays as dates that might meet these criteria.
I sincerely wish I could, Trevor Lyman is still MIA but a viral marketing and an official money bomb(proposed by the same people as in the past) needs to happen NOW. The 'If not' is there will be no great surge of extra financial support comparative to the level of a money bomb.
This would be about $2 million in a month. Guess how long we have until Super Tuesday: A MONTH. The Paul campaign needs $23 million. This idea would have us lacking over $20 million. Back to the drawingboard.
Even if 4% is accurate - which it is not - you should always vote for and support the best candidate regardless of their chance to win and there is no such thing as throwing away your vote. Ron Paul's message is too important not to support.
Troy,it bears repeating...this is a very well thought out plan and is just what the campaign needs, steady cash that the campaign can budget around. Thank goodness for the money bombs and the folks who brought those about. They showed that Paul is not just the internet but folks willing to give the fruits of their labor. Now we should continue to do so...every Friday:)
I agree with many of your points, but I disagree with the conclusion. Revolution isn't neat and orderly. People aren't as excited about making small regular contributions in a quiet and orderly fashion. The people who really care are giving all we can. I donated before the first money bomb, and again on the second money bomb. They big days attract more media attention, which gathers more supporters, making future money bombs larger, all the way to victory in 2008!
please consider the other metrics for support that I talk about in Ron Paul's Payday part 2. Imagine if you could watch Dr. Paul's support grow weekly as more people participate each iteration of Payday.
This method doesn't have the appeal of a money bomb, it is a free market approach. If my beloved Dr. Paul's free market is to win in the general election. A proven track recored would undoubtedly be the best campaign influence that one could ask for. I would suggest that someone set-up a website that when someone sign-up they could have a preset date that coexist with there pay-day a e-mail to remind of there personal pledge.
Correct, not everyone gets paid on Friday, but a lot of people do. Also, I believe that given the highs we all experienced on Nov 5th and Teaparty we are now conditioned to prefer mass donation days to any other method. Ron Paul's Payday is meant to fill that need in a systematic, ongoing way to meet the needs of the campaign.
Mr. HectorFyri, I fully agree with you to stop the money bomb. We have proven our point, it is time to stop the bombing. Two things I disagree with your statement though. 1.) Not all people get paid on Friday. 2.) A weekly money money bomb is no easier for the campaign to plain for then a monthly money bomb.
Would it not be best to allow everyone to give what ever amount they can afford on their payday? Please see part 2

Completely agree; we should move away from money bombs and focus on a constant flow of cash. Since we have the new world record for one-day fundraising, we shouldn't press our luck or it will be used against us.
Something I thought we could call it is: the Ron Paul River or Money River, in order to emphasize the idea of a constant influx of money from the grass-roots. It could work like we try to raise a certain amount every day.
However, I think the payday would be more effective.
we need a weekly good doctor pay check site and the ability to make the 25 dollar a week pledge. somone do that and ill make my pledge and send the 25 per week in. Dont confuse activity with accomplishment. Please make the web site.
I'd like some input from Dr. Paul on how his fundraising should best be done, how he intends to spend the money at hand, and how much more he needs. He is a VERY conservative spender himself, so this is in line with his principles and most likely his hopes.
the only problem i c in this idea would be how to control how much money is donated, you know everyone might donate and go way over the projected income
Hector I support you. I simple would think twice about using their language. Shock and Awe is the clever PR term that we all swallowed when we were hell-bent on revenge for 9/11. The shock and awe should have been directed at Tora Bora, oh but I guess if we killed the Boogie Man, our excuse for invading everybody (and soon) would be lost.
We are on the same side. See Why We Fight, the film by Eugene Jarecki.
I'll say no more except language and how we express ourselves is critical.
One thing you didn't mention is that the media refuses to cover the money bombs now anyway, so their primary purpose (to get Ron Paul a lot of mainstream coverage) is pointless. That's another huge reason the "payday" idea might be a good one.
In deference to the innocent dead men, women and children of Iraq, and certainly to our own military dead, I take exception to your use of the term "shock and awe". The sight of Rumsfeld smirking at the cameras using this term fills me with revulsion and disgust. See the Jarecki film Why We Fight and conjure up those images of the innocent in that Iraqi morgue.
The Ron Paul revolution is littered with illusions to military action. I merely use the term in a similar manner since is part of the common vernacular. No disrespect to any member of the military was intended. I, like many others who support Dr. Paul, do not promote violence.
You're right, but after Ron Paul receives the nomination, there won't be any need for a money bomb. The Republican Party can get enough money.
ron paul pay day is the best idea so far, but if another money bomb is to happen it should happen BEFORE the nomination, and in time for Ron Paul to use it.
I agree. The money bomb worked but repeating the same idea won't have the same returns. Ron Paul's strength is in his message and the creativity of his supporters. I like the idea of the sign bomb, and any other publicity bombs, and of course the all important VOTING BOMB come election day.
Great idea, Hector. Myself and my housemate, both Ron Paul freaks, agree with you completely. The day of the money bomb has passed. We must retire it before it gets old. Regular support of the campaign with the numbers going up by 1/2 million every week sounds nice and smooth and powerful.
There are people in the campaign that have preached to us and told us to stop what we are doing. Now is the time to start acting like a conventional campaign, stop doing crazy things. No more sign waving, no more stalking other candidates and stealing their media coverage. They want us to spend all our time, money and efforts on polling and paperwork because they have 95% success rates and they are the only true experts.
These people are liars! If they get fired from one campaign, they start working for the opponent tomorrow. They are whores, plants, agent provocateurs, and saboteurs. They will take a paycheck from the enemy as well as their own candidate. Anyone who claims to be an expert on grassroots campaigns is a liar. There has never been a campaign like this before, the internet has changed everything. We don't need Chris Matthews or Rush to tell us who to vote for.
The Paul campaign has been daring since day one not equating media appeasement or doublethinking what might happen and who might say what. Imagine if we had taken this dude's attitude after november 5th. Newsflash, Paul has about as much money as he needs until the nomination....
candidates far less great than him are running with a lot less, cold hard votes need to abolish those national polls and truly show him as a frontrunner, huckabee isnt raising 2 mill but you see how well he is doing based on popularity. We can buckle down and trickle our cash safely or go for the motherload with new people joining every day and break an even bigger record. AFTER ron paul gets the nomination then we can talk about this short of strategy not when we still need to keep it vicious!!
hey, who do you work for? or are you a freelance moron? just because some christians support president bush, that doesn't make him a good christian, does it? and just because some jews supported ariel sharon, that didn't make ariel sharon a good jew, did it? no more than supporting breasts makes a bra a breast. i hate to agree with white supremacists about anything, but the constitution must be restored. now.
If by racist you mean you're an idiot who's digging up quotes that are almost 20 years old that Ron Paul never actually made, and have long been discredited, and you're an idiot, then I must agree. Unfortunately, freedom brings everyone together EXCEPT idiots. Unfortunately that prohibits you. Because you're an idiot. Idiot.
Thats stupid so go ahead and let the govt. tax you to death..one issue should not determine your vote. Get educated on the real issues. Why are you so for abortion anyways..you planning on using it as a birth control method
He personally is against abortion, but he is not putting any regulation on abortion because he believes abortion rights should not be left to the big govt, but will instead be left to the individual.
Ronpaulmoneybomb(dot)com is similar to this idea with a suggested donation of $43 a week. I'm down with this idea though. We have to innovate in order to keep going. I wonder how many small Ron Paul money pledge sites are out there...
You're missing a major point. Many people will not donate without a gimmick other than the already worth cause of Freedom. The money bomb videos inspire and motivate people to give knowing they are doing so with thousands across the world. The money bomb is a good thing and gets people to donate that would not otherwise.
Well my opinion is still that we are setting ourself up for a series of moneyflops if we don't adopt a more sustainable fund raising platform such as Ron Paul's Payday. My goal is still a lot of participation, just at a lower dollar amount.
1. Why should Ron Paul get the republican nomination when he is CLEARLY not republican but a libertarian? Not that there is anything wrong with that but lets call a spade a spade.
2. Am i the only one that noticed the flying spaghetti monster T-Shirt?
Actually he is Republican... he has been for some 30 years. The Republican party changed in that time from being mostly conservative (ron pauls ideology) to a mostly neo-conservative party. Neo-cons and conservatives are vastly different, yet they are lumped together as members of the same party.
Good message, we broke every last record, so theres no need for more money bombs. Since many others are thinking this way as well, its unlikely another bomb will top 6 million.
I'd leave the possiblility for another huge bomb say, if he wins the nomination (since we're known for it) but until then I like the payday idea.
You're starting to sound desparate. If Ron Paul sounded as desparate as you, he would've run out of steam 20 years ago. If Ron Paul wins it will be becuase of his message, not some lame 30 second ad directed at people who couldn't give a s#@t.
Good idea. By the time everyone knows about an idea, it's time to move to another mode. I noticed the second money bomb got less media coverage than the first, there always needs to be new ideas, while sustaining the old, i.e. keep the blimp up while renewing the main donation modus.
Although this is borderline since it is just a personal insult, I'll leave it. I just ask that you respect my wishes since this is essentially my venue (not a 100% public space)and if you don't meet my requirement I will ask you to leave.
I will be removing any comments that contain vulgarities or have nothing to do with the video or the payday concept. All other comments positive or negative will remain.
Although Ron Paul is great on Iraq, his domestic ideas are ignorant and even suicidal. The simplistic ideas of libertarians denies the social and economic realities of our country. The ideas are more than a little idealistic and far from reality based. People who are supporting him are short sided with a one issue agenda (a good issue no doubt), but use your heads folks, look at the rest of his message.
Thanks for saying it GeSchmidtt. You're exactly right. I respect Ron Paul and his message, but I think a lot of people don't understand what exactly his positions actually are. He believes in an entire free market economy and doesn't want ANY government subsidies at all.
by all means then just pledge and donate on one of the paydays. You don't have to give every week to participate in Ron Paul's Payday. The Ron Paul Payday site allows to pick a donation level and select the weeks you will participate.
5 Stars. You make a very good point, we have made our points with the Money Bomb. Consistant weekly donations will still generate Dr. Paul's quarterly earnings in an upward slow and steady climb. I have forwarded this to my Meet Up Group.
However, if we do 1 Million a week (call them Million dollar Mondays) then then means 13 million in money bombs for the quarter--which translates to about 26 million total fundraising for the quarter, a respectable increase from this quarter's 20 million.
Weekly money bombs are an AWESOME idea, but the amount MUST BE A MILLION!
I think Friday is a much better day since i coincides with most peoples paydays. Getting their paycheck will be a helpful reminder to donate. Monday, after you have blow too much money over the weekend is not a good donation day IMO.
Good Idea, BUT, the goal needs to be 1 Million a week, not half a million.
Think about it: There are 13 weeks in the first quarter of next year. Half a million a week is only 7.5 million. And if these money bombs are to be about half of the quarterly donations (as they were this quarter), then Paul will only get 15 million next quarter.
I don't plan on taking all the weekly donations and putting them on Friday. There will be other donations on others day, the Friday payday is just mean to put a nice blip at the end of each week. Also, the goal will be scaled based on support for this idea.
I'm in and in the money bomb too. I think one thing that you overlook is that money bomb gets people to donate. Its a special even that is why more people donate than they would otherwise. A weekly money bomb won't bring in the same amount of cache.
We can expect to grow 50% a month. We did 4, then 6 next we can expect 9. At $500k, you only end up with $2mil per month. I don't think you can get enough people motivated for a weekly bomb.
$500K with 20,000 donor is just the initial goal. I will scale it based on support for this idea. I just had to pick a starting point that I thought was achievable.
True, it is fun to participate in a massive money bomb.
But you have to realize that most of the fun is knowing that you are generating not only cash, but media coverage from Ron Paul. If the media has grown impervious to Money Bombs, then we have to move onto another tactic. This last one was almost completely ignored in the media, and far less effective than the last one. We can expect the next money bomb--if planned--to be 100% ignored.
I disagree about the effectiveness of it. Yes media is ignoring it, but they will any other effort we come up with. This is simply because Ron Paul has moved beyond unelectable to totally electable, not because of the moneybomb itself.
Ron Paul has gone viral now, and no matter what stunts we do, media will try and marginalize it even more so than before. The point is even without the media these massive examples of grassroots power is what brings people on board and makes Ron Paul go viral.
Good idea. $25.00 a week is just a pizza and coke for a few friends. Make it "stay home and watch RP videos instead" night. Make it a "down payment on making it possible to keep my own money instead of giving it to the IRS crooks" night.
OK, intelligent logic. But what about both? Payday AND a money bomb? We at least have to go over $20 million this quarter. I'm going to donate my paycheck contribution right now.
Money bombs is what generates what all the buzz though. And people donate a lot more with the bombs rather than if you don't. If the money bomb wasn't there, I probably only would have donated once this quarter. But because of the money bombs, I have donated much more.
This is an excellent strategy. Lets now put greater focus on the local efforts of talking to people and organizing supporters for the early caucuses/primaries. I support the idea of small, steady donations in addition to more grassroots local efforts at this time. Another money bomb after we win the Republican nomination would be a good call.

Ron Paul is one of the reasons why America is in decline and why we have not recovered from the destructive actions of George Bush. Regardless of the funds given to Ron Paul he SHOULD not win and WILL not win but will rather fizzle out and die. How about instead of donating anything to Ron Paul you don't waste your money and instead use it to fund your own education.
All I have to say is you're an idiot for posting this. Obviously you have no idea the type of people who donated to him. Get your facts straight. Majority of those who donate to his campaign have well paying jobs. We donate because we believe in him. Most of the cash he has generated are done by regular people not by his campaign staff. GO RON PAUL!

When a method is successful why would you stop because it "might not" work again? How many NEW supporters have they brought in?
People need encouragement and respond to excitement.
They convert people who thought he had no following.
I don't agree. I think they're very beneficial. Local ones always spike donations. People respond well to them who wouldn't donate without it.
So what if we pull in less? What if we pull in the same or more?
When something isn't broken, you don't fix it.

I'll say no more except language and how we express ourselves is critical.
musolinilampost 4 years ago
Agreed. Same with the term "money bomb".
jharrison78 4 years ago
One thing you didn't mention is that the media refuses to cover the money bombs now anyway, so their primary purpose (to get Ron Paul a lot of mainstream coverage) is pointless. That's another huge reason the "payday" idea might be a good one.
drutter 4 years ago
In deference to the innocent dead men, women and children of Iraq, and certainly to our own military dead, I take exception to your use of the term "shock and awe". The sight of Rumsfeld smirking at the cameras using this term fills me with revulsion and disgust. See the Jarecki film Why We Fight and conjure up those images of the innocent in that Iraqi morgue.
Killers R Us have taken over US foreign policy.
musolinilampost 4 years ago
The Ron Paul revolution is littered with illusions to military action. I merely use the term in a similar manner since is part of the common vernacular. No disrespect to any member of the military was intended. I, like many others who support Dr. Paul, do not promote violence.

You're right, but after Ron Paul receives the nomination, there won't be any need for a money bomb. The Republican Party can get enough money.
ron paul pay day is the best idea so far, but if another money bomb is to happen it should happen BEFORE the nomination, and in time for Ron Paul to use it.

They want us to spend all our time, money and efforts on polling and paperwork because they have 95% success rates and they are the only true experts.
gingermax 4 years ago
These people are liars! If they get fired from one campaign, they start working for the opponent tomorrow. They are whores, plants, agent provocateurs, and saboteurs. They will take a paycheck from the enemy as well as their own candidate. Anyone who claims to be an expert on grassroots campaigns is a liar. There has never been a campaign like this before, the internet has changed everything. We don't need Chris Matthews or Rush to tell us who to vote for.

utubesucks2003 4 years ago 2
candidates far less great than him are running with a lot less, cold hard votes need to abolish those national polls and truly show him as a frontrunner, huckabee isnt raising 2 mill but you see how well he is doing based on popularity. We can buckle down and trickle our cash safely or go for the motherload with new people joining every day and break an even bigger record. AFTER ron paul gets the nomination then we can talk about this short of strategy not when we still need to keep it vicious!!

You're missing a major point. Many people will not donate without a gimmick other than the already worth cause of Freedom. The money bomb videos inspire and motivate people to give knowing they are doing so with thousands across the world. The money bomb is a good thing and gets people to donate that would not otherwise.
Braggs0269 4 years ago
Well my opinion is still that we are setting ourself up for a series of moneyflops if we don't adopt a more sustainable fund raising platform such as Ron Paul's Payday. My goal is still a lot of participation, just at a lower dollar amount.

1. Why should Ron Paul get the republican nomination when he is CLEARLY not republican but a libertarian? Not that there is anything wrong with that but lets call a spade a spade.
2. Am i the only one that noticed the flying spaghetti monster T-Shirt?
cydonia21 4 years ago
Actually he is Republican... he has been for some 30 years. The Republican party changed in that time from being mostly conservative (ron pauls ideology) to a mostly neo-conservative party. Neo-cons and conservatives are vastly different, yet they are lumped together as members of the same party.

Good message, we broke every last record, so theres no need for more money bombs. Since many others are thinking this way as well, its unlikely another bomb will top 6 million.
I'd leave the possiblility for another huge bomb say, if he wins the nomination (since we're known for it) but until then I like the payday idea.

Good idea. By the time everyone knows about an idea, it's time to move to another mode. I noticed the second money bomb got less media coverage than the first, there always needs to be new ideas, while sustaining the old, i.e. keep the blimp up while renewing the main donation modus.

GeSchmidtt 4 years ago
Thanks for saying it GeSchmidtt. You're exactly right. I respect Ron Paul and his message, but I think a lot of people don't understand what exactly his positions actually are. He believes in an entire free market economy and doesn't want ANY government subsidies at all.

However, if we do 1 Million a week (call them Million dollar Mondays) then then means 13 million in money bombs for the quarter--which translates to about 26 million total fundraising for the quarter, a respectable increase from this quarter's 20 million.
Weekly money bombs are an AWESOME idea, but the amount MUST BE A MILLION!
cjfriz 4 years ago
I think Friday is a much better day since i coincides with most peoples paydays. Getting their paycheck will be a helpful reminder to donate. Monday, after you have blow too much money over the weekend is not a good donation day IMO.

riceisasia 4 years ago
Is the political philosophy of Texas interested in by whom? Is it true? Fake.
riceisasia 4 years ago
Good Idea, BUT, the goal needs to be 1 Million a week, not half a million.
Think about it: There are 13 weeks in the first quarter of next year. Half a million a week is only 7.5 million. And if these money bombs are to be about half of the quarterly donations (as they were this quarter), then Paul will only get 15 million next quarter.
cjfriz 4 years ago
I don't plan on taking all the weekly donations and putting them on Friday. There will be other donations on others day, the Friday payday is just mean to put a nice blip at the end of each week. Also, the goal will be scaled based on support for this idea.
HectorFyri 4 years ago
I'm in and in the money bomb too. I think one thing that you overlook is that money bomb gets people to donate. Its a special even that is why more people donate than they would otherwise. A weekly money bomb won't bring in the same amount of cache.
We can expect to grow 50% a month. We did 4, then 6 next we can expect 9. At $500k, you only end up with $2mil per month. I don't think you can get enough people motivated for a weekly bomb.
voytechs 4 years ago
$500K with 20,000 donor is just the initial goal. I will scale it based on support for this idea. I just had to pick a starting point that I thought was achievable.
HectorFyri 4 years ago
True, it is fun to participate in a massive money bomb.
But you have to realize that most of the fun is knowing that you are generating not only cash, but media coverage from Ron Paul. If the media has grown impervious to Money Bombs, then we have to move onto another tactic. This last one was almost completely ignored in the media, and far less effective than the last one. We can expect the next money bomb--if planned--to be 100% ignored.
cjfriz 4 years ago 3
I disagree about the effectiveness of it. Yes media is ignoring it, but they will any other effort we come up with. This is simply because Ron Paul has moved beyond unelectable to totally electable, not because of the moneybomb itself.
Ron Paul has gone viral now, and no matter what stunts we do, media will try and marginalize it even more so than before. The point is even without the media these massive examples of grassroots power is what brings people on board and makes Ron Paul go viral.
