The catch is to get the recognition they need the radio play, and unfortunately our nice little deregulated corporate stations in a closet generally don't care about anything that isn't on a major label. Hell, even the "metal" station on XM-Sirius is barely anything more than a glorified Corporate Rock station. They hardly step even to the bigger labels that aren't members of the RIAA. Capitlism has killed radio in this country.

Capitalism killed radio everywhere, trust me! My band plays similar music here in Hungary, Europe and I don't see any chance that our songs will be played however some of them are really catchy and anyone could whistle the melody on the way back home from our gig... You can have an underground status without radioplay and management but that is limited. Mainstream kills!
