This movie looks really entertaining. I'm not really a Star Trek fan, mostly because the fans are ravenous idiots who shun star trk outsiders. This movie looks to bring lots of new blood to the franchise and of course, the fans are tearing it apart.
it's funny because all you guys pick this movie apart yet go see it in theatres and then buy the DVDs.
not true I am a star trek fan.I am not a ravenous idiot. There are no "outsiders" in my opinion.I will wait to see the movie before I judge it.Please don't make generalizations like that.
Dude lighten the hell up, Trek is going to be relevant again. If you want Trek confined to obscurity and irrelevance, by all means criticize every single aspect of the film. Trek "Fans" are often times no FRIENDS of the franchise.
So contrived and lame and typically Abrams in its formula of cheesy Hollywood notions of Americana and hollow notions of redemption. Kirk is basically Sawyer and Jack in his conventiently bad boyish ways. Tacky and dramatically unrealistic.
Long live Ira Steven Behr his politically insightful work on Star Trek Deep Space Nine that actually respected people's intelligence instead of playing down to the lowest common denominator. Shame on Paramount!
How about we not judge it until we see it. Isn't that what Star Trek is about? Open mindedness? Unjudgemental or biased? So many fans have lost this ability. Sadly
There's lots to judge it on -- Abrams' crappy, superficial, sensationalistic work; all 3 have developed "Fringe" which is obvious and gross and lacking in subtlety, where The X-Files was subtle and smart.
I'm sure it will be more fun than the previous 4 Trek films, but it shall never surpass DS9. Abrams is the right man for Paramount's shallow desires and disrespect for the franchise. Thank God they didn't try to decide things on DS9 and meddled in Voyager.
It is illogical to assume the movie is bad before you see it. Besides, I hope this brings in more Star Trek fans, it will help Star Trek Fan series get more followers.
This comment has received too many negative votes show
A major slap in the face to:
A). Trek fans across the world.
B). To anyone who loves REAL FILMMAKING.
C). To anyone with a functioning brain.
A god damned embarrassment!

Isn't Lost one of the best exercise in storytelling we had this decade? Why would Star Trek be superficial and sensationalistic with Abrams' touch?
I respect both franchise so, to me, in orthodoxy there can't be any valid arguments. And yeah, DS9 rocked.
