  • The 2015 Lotus Elise will have DCT installed and that's when I will finally be able to drive an Elise. I freaking hate conventional manual transmissions.

  • can u drive it just like an automatic without having to shift anything if you want to?

  • you guys walk and talk like your professional race car drivers but i will tell you that if you buy this car with a DCT than you just ruin the point in having an M3. Any real, self respecting race car driver will choose the manual any day because they know that real cars like this are about the experience rather than getting from point A to point B.

Why spend $4,000 to have the car shift for you? i like BMW but if you want the M badge buy a DCT but if you want a real M3, get it with a stick....

  • where is the sound?!?!?!?

  • DoesBMW know about this development

    youtube.com/watch?v=hgl7IBmUj8o

  • It's great that BMW has implemented a dual clutch transmission but they did not build the M-DCT, Getrag did. BMW is an engine company.

  • if i get a m3 do i have to buy this thing or is it on new models or something... cuz im kinda confused right now

  • we should boykot all artists signed on wmg

  • Thanks for the answer. So it is basically the same logic for the ferrari and lamborghini too eh?

  • FUCK YOU WMG

  • i know it s a silly question but how do u put it on P with those paddle shifters.

  • hey.. i own a e92 m3 with dct, and you cant acually put it in park..you select neutral with the stick in the middle, and then when you turn the car off it automatically goes to a "P" or park settting. hope that helps

  • @SCUDERIAxFERRARI

    Thats weird, I got a X5 and

when I stand still, even if its in D,

and shut the engine down it

    automatically jumps to P.

must have something to do with

    the DCT ?

  • @SimpsonvilleRecords try turning it off whille ur driving lol

  • This is one of the WORST gearboxes i've ever tried. Yup, it's got dual clutch like DSG, S-Tronic and the others but...here's the thing. To make a fake manual sensation, this car won't move at all if you don't press the gas pedal. Strange, and if you're already on a roll, and wants to lift the throttle to let the car cruise freely, it will rev for engine brake and stops the car. Which is good for racing but incredibly annoying in real traffic situation. And that's in D-mode.

  • WTF are you talking about?I test drove one yesterday and the gearbox is great.

Sure you drove one mate? My M3 edition will arrive some time in Dec 09, ill put up a vid then and show you it doesnt engine brake hard when you lift off the throttle. And your quote, "doesnt move unless you give it gas" haha, what do you expect? it doesnt have "Creep" like most other gearboxs, but i like that, i dont want the car to move unless i press the accelerator pedal!

  • ur a retard

  • That's the whole point. It gives you a lot more control over your speed without having to bother with the brake pedal--just like a manual. It's not strange and it's not a "fake" sensation, that's just how the transmission is because here's no slushy torque converter, it's a positive connection with a clutch.

  • Does it really need (D) automatic mode? I mean there's no clutch pedal and all you have to do is forward to downshift and backward to upshift. I guess (D) is for the lazy.

  • So this feature gives you the option to either shift with the stick, the paddle shifters or set the car to automatic and not have to shift at all?

  • yes

  • so does it come one all of the m series like m3 and m5

  • yeah i love manuals, i also miss crank starting my car. forget manual, let technology do the work. soon enough tech will be better than humans. ask the worlds best chess players. can't fight it.

  • Watch WALL-E, and you'll see what happens when we let technology take over.

  • ///M POWER!!!

  • oh man how many gears they have in the modern car nowadays? I just only use the second gear to accelerate and seems my car cannot reach 140kph....the engine revs is too high...i use the first gear first then after it is broken i climb it to 2nd then after its broken then to 3rd...man i'm so high...n not low

  • This video is wrong. It is actually called the dual clutch transmission(DCT).

  • One word! Unbelievable...

    Get a life!

  • i have a life....

I just actually know this stuff. Plus I had to do a reasearch project in english class and i choose to write one about the diffrent types of transmission.

  • Just making a point. You just come across as a busybody telling people how they're wrong over one word! See where I'm coming from?

  • yea

  • you're just criticizing the criticizer

  • Oh, that makes you a specialist. We all are worshipping you...

  • Oh, that makes you a specialist. We all are worshipping you...

  • dual and double is the SAME thing.

    for example

the name for all wheel drive varies by manufacture. BMW calls it x drive. MB calls it 4matic audi calls it quattro

    GET A LIFE!

  • Double clutching and a dual clutch are two different things.

  • true because the -ing represents the action as it occurs.

dual and double however are the SAME

    0_o

  • double clutching is with manual gearbox for fast slow down or fast accleration... dual clutch is in this video.. iam right ?

  • I was a manual man all the way especially after using the SMG in my M6 and M5 but DCT wipes the floor with everything much smoother and faster than DSG but you'd expect that I guess.

  • VW got that first.

  • yes, i've been watching videos about Volkswagen's DSG, people insist argueing with me and trying to convince me that manual is better than DSG or DCT .¬¬

  • Wait, not effing music, its not music fault, let me correct - fucking song.

  • That effing music fucks the video up. Doesnt go. I have to mute that crap...

  • dsc is good in all but u cant have the true experience with out a manual

  • i prefer automatic, because you get more confortable when you let the car do the dirty job ;)

BUT the true about manual gearboxes is that you loose important engine's rotation when you step on the clutch to shift. of course, with manual, you have 100% control of the car... but I don't have my Q7 for racing ;) even if i wish to race, i would never put a manual gearbox on it, NEVER :P

  • What's the Name of the Song ?

  • Don't buy it. An M3 must have a Manual transmission!!

I have a DSG GTi by the way.

  • Whatever man, it's another automatic transmission posing as a "manual".

Nothing better than depressing a clutch pedal while shifting gears.

  • Bayers has the technologi! That's one of the reasons I like Bayerische Motoren Werke...

  • There are some German models such as Audi that I know giving both real Manual Transmission (you still have the clutch pedal) and paddle shift at the same time. Understand tha traditionalist will auto-response to the clutch pedal, so it's important for this feature to be added in...

  • At the same time??

In the Audi/VWs you either have DSG which is basiclly the same as DCT or you have a manual Transmission. But you don´t have a DSG with clutch pedal!

  • Dear BMW.

    WOW! WOW! WOW!

    Edward S.

  • @WeAreWFO Wow indeed!!

  • but this time it's installed in a car with v8 high-rev engine with 420 bhp, up to 8,400 rpm, and 400 Nm of torque at 3,900 rpm. the new bmw m3 convertible. no crappy golf or lame audi tt... end of story. ;-)

  • i think i forgot to mention that its in the r8. same power and similar torque and a few less revs than the m3 =)

i just hope that its better than the smg gearbox bmw had in the old m3... i hated it so much!

  • far better and far faster than the SMG II and III

  • correct me if im wrong... but didn't audi TT come out with this first?

  • the double clutch technology was first introduced in the VW Golf R32. Now its found in many VW and Audi Models with engines ranging from the 1.4 TSI up to the 3.2 V6 and some diesel engines.

  • Correct. The VW-group developed the double clutch technology.

You can also find it in de Bugatti Veyron.

  • Porsche developed the DSG about 25 years ago. VAG just bought the idea, like TDI's which came first on a Fiat or quattro...

  • Still not as fun as a real manual

  • For those of us missing a left foot it is extremely convienent

  • ye its trash!....real manual any day!

  • The manual is rubbish in comparison, it's also clunky and heavy at lower speeds. The 4.8 0-60 is only achievable if you have absoloutly perfect gear changes and in optimum conditions. On the other hand, 4.6 seconds can be easily achieved with the M-DCT.

  • i agree with you. manual is for people who really wants to have some fun driving

  • turbo ac's yeah!

  • Lindo bela caixa.....
