  • You forgot to mention that, THEN you go home collect EI for the rest of the year and cry poor mouth. Get a real job.

  • @Mrjackaranda yeah sure you fuckin dick, paint everyone with the same brush. I work 12 months a year, 6 of them on land , and EI doesn`t keep a household going FYI

  • @Mrjackaranda u dont understand whaat this is about.....fishing isnt something most ppeople want to do but the people of nova scotia have lobster fished for centuries....and most of these fisherman either work for the other 6 months or they made enough from their trips to pay he bills until next season......my father..grandfather and pretty much all the men in my family have done this and never once sat on their ass and collected EL....

  • @Mrjackaranda Its sad to think there are people willing to disrespect some one for their way of life. I'm guessing you have never had the chance to experience lobster fishing for one day, so imagine a fishermen only having 9 weeks to make an income for in most cases 2 to 3 family s, what do you do for a living? is it a sustainable way of life? are you responsible for the lives of your crew when you go to work? try a "REAL JOB" on my boat, you wouldn't last a week.

  • love nova SCOTIA

  • Just got back from 2 weeks in Halifax and did lots of touring at night and on the weekends. Driving up through Mahone Bay, St Margarets Bay, Glen Margaret etc we would see hundreds and hundreds of feet of nets and buoys strung along the gravel shoulder and on the guardrails, WHY? Wife and I were curious. Figured they decorated the landscape with old nets, possible?

  • I guess who sing is Sarah Christian Rockers or something.hehehe.Thanks nice video.Kool!

  • do u know who it is?

  • That song is not Bad Company Simple Man - Who is it?

  • fuckers took my audio off , had to replace it with one of youtubes tunes

  • @jawkneebebad so what is it do you know??

  • I live in the same area as the guy who posted the video, and let me assure you I know 100 knots of wind. Im guessing your winds are les suites that come off the highland correct. No doubt it does get bad in your waters but untill you;ve tryed the offshore swells im not sure nothing could compare.

  • Great video ! I'm still fishing single lines ,anything from 60 fathoms to 15 fathoms over here on Grand Manan. Alot more work but I think it pay's off in the long run.Wishing you a great safe season.

  • we have jut over a month left in this season , weather has been beautiful all April, hope it holds on for May . catches are good and the price seems to be holding at $4 / lb

  • cool, south coasters, I'm fishing in area 26A, west coast of cape breton, have you ever been in 100 knot south east winds, now that's crazy!!!

and what's with the ramp?? seems weird you would need that? we don't?

  • been in plenty of wind but nothing close to 100 knot, our boats are only 45 feet long and we fish offshore . the ramp was put there because the boat always had a closed in stern . we couldn`t cut the stern out because there was a fuel tank at the end of it, and fishing trawls we didn`t want to have to go push every pot overboard, a lot safer and its pretty cool to watch them shoot overboard lol

  • yeah, I fish on a 40 footer, but we're fishing in a semi-sheltered area, you ever hear of cheticamp, N.S? that where I'm at.

yeah, we get bad winds here because the wind funnels through the highlands here and in magnifies the speed.

yeah, I get where your coming from with the ramp now.

  • @flamedrag18 bad winds in cheticamp... thats an understatement! lol

  • @flamedrag18 Yes but that is only with a southeast wind, and thats a land breeze, the wind here churns up the water so bad becasue theres nothing to block the wind like your big mountians lol

  • @oinkle1

you ever been in a 100 knot wind? it doesn't matter if there's shelter or not, it's bad enough tat you literally need to crawl to get to the front of the boat so you can get the front line to tie the boat up, nearly impossible.

  • Great vid..Be safe out there brother

  • Great Video. AND the song works great too.

    Take care,

    Paul

  • hows the pay

  • Great video, great song. I used this in explaining lobster fishing to my Japanese Roomate. (I'm from Miramichi)

  • Well done! My man is the captian of a lobster and scallop boat,in the bay of fundy too!!!! You guys are crazy crazy crazy hard workers!!! And you do it all for your family...And who takes the most of it??? the government or the buyers!!!!(the CROOKS!) You do the dirty work, and they get the profit!!!Doesn't make sense to me. If it isn't them taking it, it seems to be THE paper pushers changing the rules, cutting the quota, or closing a season....CONTINUED BELOW.

  • CONTINUED FROM COMMENT ABOVE... (paper pushers- meaning someone who has never set foot on a boat- ones who has no sweet clue how hard you guyz and gals work to support your family-yet they decide your fate!!!)Doesn't make sense at all!!!

Great work on the video, keep safe!

  • Definitely agree, fishing is an awesome job.

    Keep it up.

  • Definitely agree, fishing is an awesome job.

    Keep it up.

  • Great Job!!!

  • Great Video!!, a lot of hard work goes into that job, Thanks for sharing.

  • well fucknuts... it was the first week of the season, we caught 20,000 lbs in 10 days, non stop, and it was -10 degrees with a 25-30 knot nor-east wind in the second week of December... come aboard and bring your cotton gloves if you`d like, it`s just me on deck now alone, and the pots weigh 100 lbs each

  • Spoken Like a true South Shoresman jawkneebebad. How far off shore you guys go haul? And damn how big are those pots? I hauled once for a boat from Jordan Bay and those only weighed around 30-35lbs.

  • we are around 10-15 miles from land where we fish, our pots weigh between 75 and 90 lbs ( 90 lbs ones are the anchor pots on the ends of the trawl)with 120 lb weight anchors. lots of physical labour aboard the boat for sure, i think of it as a free work out lol

  • awsome vid johnny, way to sum it up. Glad you put it together for us and an awsome tune to go with it, good job

  • HEY GREAT JOB!i needed to see this vid. i was seriously wandering what one does to get work out there on lobster boats? are there many jobs avail? thanks alot..

  • there are jobs, usually for the first month of the season most boats take a 'bander' whose job it is to measure, band, sort, and pack the lobsters, along with filling bait and sometimes working at the roller. Pay varies a lot, we paid our bander $1500 a week last year, some pay more, some pay less

  • hey thanks for the info, i did not know about banders before you mentioned it! what is the first month of the season? and..wich part of nova scotia are these jobs available? i realy appreciate all the help! been hard to find info on this sort of work!! thanks again!p.s thanks for the comment on matt mays he is a great talent!
