Yea I can tell you replaced the HDD with something faster and probably not made by WD because you had the "?" folder for a sec, and macs are always shipped with WD HDDs and if its not a WD HDD, the computer has to load it differently
Uh, I hate to piss all over your parade and make the girls scream, but the iBook has a different startup sequence than the MacBook. This is based not just on the OS, but in the boot utilities...still a good video, just wanted to let you know.
I use an ibook g4 1.33 all the time instead of a netbook. It's got a decent size keyboard, decent size screen and if you use the camino browser even does youtube fabulously....not to mention they can be had for $149 - $179 on ebay. I had an eee pc which is not a terrible machine, but just so underpowered and way too small to type fast. I do live in the suburbs where you need a car though so I don't mind carrying the 5lbs from the car to coffee shop. Could be an issue in say NYC.
The ibook g4 is the worst designed laptop I have ever worked on. 40 tiny screws to replace the hard disk, and a real pain to do. I will forever hate this machine.

You have a 7200RPM or SSD Drive in the MacBook because your MacBook boots up in about the same amount of time as my Core i5 MBP with it's 5400RPM HD. My MBP should boot much faster than yours with 4GB RAM and it's i5 processor. Also, I happen to know that those MacBooks shipped with either a 120 or 160GB 5400RPM HD. You put a faster drive in your MacBook. This test isn't fair.
The folder just means that your mac is searching for an operating system. so that means your computers either have no operating system or the hard drives are bad.
The best thing you can do with an iBook is sell it on eBay and get an Intel Mac. PPC is dead and unsupported and it's now very difficult to get new software as it's almost all Intel-only these days.

Not really , what you have to realise about the Ibook's , is although they look quite like the macbooks , they are actually much older , and a lot slower - their major turn off is the fact that they don't have an intel processor , which will cause obvious problems , and also they are getting on a bit - as I said - the first model was launched in 2003(7 years ago - time flies!!!) , and the last in 2006 4 years ago , so they are getting on quite a abit and tech has advanced, buy an old macbook/pro
YES. I bought an ibook g4 and it is faster than any brand new windows laptop you will get for double this price. It is the best laptop I've ever had and I've had no problems with anything I've tried to run on it. This must be running up to 6 years old and it's just amazing. I'm sure the ibook g3's would be good too, the only thing you will probably have problems with is the batteries because they are old, though you can get a new one for about £40 and mine still lasts around 2 hours.

I have a macbook air 1.66Ghz Core Duo with an 80GB HDD and 2GB of RAM with leopard and i did a bootup race with a Power Macintosh G4 Graphite 2GB SDRAM, 120GB HDD, and a PowerPC G4 dual 1.42Ghz (i replaced the old processor) and it also had leopard, but guess who won? The Power Macintosh G4 won by 7 seconds because i removed the login and alot of unnecessary startup programs. Don't ask me how this is possible. I am posting a vid sometime soon about this.
You're lucky to have them both working! I have both and they have both broken down because of bad soldering. I bought a replacement iBook only to find it wont run my previous software. All my old important files are inaccessible. No more Apple Macs for me!

Macs are overpriced pieces of junk imo.
I saw a $750 laptop with 4 gb ram, 1gb Vram, 2.1ghz processor, and 250 gb hdd. It can do just about anything you need it to do (including playing games on HIGH settings), and is a much better deal than an overpriced mac
Well the thing is you can't really get an apple laptop that good, at all... But I guess you could buy something like a mac pro (that's a desktop) and get the 512mb graphics card and that would probably be about equal to it (though it would have a bigger hdd and slightly faster procceser)
The con is it will cost you FAR more... (it's $2500 for the quad core)
Now if you don't mind spending a bunch of extra money, and don't want a laptop-go ahead, get a mac.

sry I was in a hurry lol. The graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M, the cpu is Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 2.1G. And it can play all games on high settings (besides like crysis :P)

no, the macbook is on the left... The iBooks screen is technically bigger (14.1") , where as the MacBooks is 13.3", but widescreen

Macs are overpriced pieces of junk imo.
I saw a $750 laptop with 4 gb ram, 1gb Vram, 2.1ghz processor, and 250 gb hdd. It can do just about anything you need it to do (including playing games on HIGH settings), and is a much better deal than an overpriced mac

Well the thing is you can't really get an apple laptop that good, at all... But I guess you could buy something like a mac pro (that's a desktop) and get the 512mb graphics card and that would probably be about equal to it (though it would have a bigger hdd and slightly faster procceser)
The con is it will cost you FAR more... (it's $2500 for the quad core)
Now if you don't mind spending a bunch of extra money, and don't want a laptop-go ahead, get a mac.

i've got a nvidia go 7400 with 512 mb ram and it sux! 2.1 ghz what? pentium iv you mean? please be more exact. playing games on high? i don't think so, maybe 3 year old games but do you really think that such a notebook can handle crysis on high or gta iv on high settings? are you sure? please think about what you said. and no i don't own a mac. my hp notebook is good enough for me.

sry I was in a hurry lol. The graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M, the cpu is Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 2.1G. And it can play all games on high settings (besides like crysis :P)

It depends what kind of video card the laptop uses,The Modern Mac book uses a Nvidia Geforce 9400m.That laptop could have good specs but a shitty video card.
