Sad songs have a place in the music industry and his talents could have been more in the writing of the song than singing it. Many artists make their money as solely a song writer not a singer

I liked it, since i do enjoy alot of the music that arnt played on the "commercial" radio. Not everything have to be happy al the time. If you done this in 60s-70s then you would probably gotten big.

I think he should've been givin' a chance to sing through the song. How could they have figured out it was soooo depressing before he even sang the song all the way through. I've read that they interviewed him before he performed...I feel they were just using him to be one of their rejections....so sad.

This wasn't as awful as I thought it would be after reading the story in The Guardian. Besides, the guy has a long history of depression so it's no wonder he sings about suicide. If the song was performed by a birlliant singer, it wouldn't be bad at all.

I expected this to be awful after reading the news story about Alyn but I actually think he's a good songwriter from what I heard. Some of the best songwriters need others to sing their songs (Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen) and I think BGT have missed a trick here

I quite liked this song. Ok, not the most perfect voice, but still ... reminded me a little of Neil Young. We need more singers like this, with a story and a bit of an edge. BGT is in no way able to handle anything other than the most anodyne of performances - ho hum, their loss.

This contestant Alyn James, told the BGT researchers before the show that he had mental health issues, that he was on medication due to mental health issues.

He was chosen to appear on stage to be mocked & laughed at, shortly after the audition Alyn James was placed in a psychiatric unit and deemed a serious suicide risk.

Well done Britains Got Talent for not exploiting a mentally ill man!

Personally I liked this guy, his singing voice is not great but he has a gentleness and kindness we rarely see. He was simply panned for being to deep for britains got talent...so almost a compliment really.
