My back is doing 90% better now, I have no neck pain. I havnt noticed any back pain for nearly 2 weeks now, after 1 year of problems. My chiro. Told me to work on my back muscles in the gym, that made a big difference I think.
Yeah, to add to that, I am pretty much in the same boat as you. My chiropractor told me to do strength as well as flexability. He said one thing many people over look is back strength, but it's just as important as the yoga, and stretches, also eating healthy is just as important! =D
I recently went to see a chiropractor, I had a year of back pain that I just couldn't seem to get rid of, he pushed on c 6 on my left side, made some good cracks. My back has felt better since the 4 adjustments. However he worked on my neck with the spring loaded gun, now I'm having neck problems. My back still has problems, but I think its going to repair itself thanks to the adjustments. There is no conclusion at this point however.
I too plan to attend National University, starting fall trimester 2011. From what I've researched both Life and National University are good schools, but National tends to come with a little more respect by referring MD's and DO's...
@chadhedges "...respect by referring MD's and DO's..." So in other words your looking for a chiropractic school that is subjugative to medicine and will provide chiropractic health on allopathic's terms? I honor your choice...but does chiropractic and your patients? You will (not may find) find that chiropracTIC schools are full (whilst medi-practic schools aren't) and chiropracTIC dr.s are busy whilst medipractor dr.s aren't. because the people want chiropracTIC not medipractic.
national lombard is the best, that's where i'll be going, straight chiropractors are effective for certain things, but are half as effective for most things, because they don't use physical therapy, as mixed do. and I believe palmer is a straight school, according to my dad who is a 1983 grad of national, who is the majority of the reason i chose mixed, so it may be bias? correct me if im wrong.
My brother attended National at Lombard Ill., essentially a medi-practor school with little if none chiropractic philosophy, direction, and techniques, more than a "mixer". My brother is just about out of business as he appears as a physical therapist rather than a chiropracTOR! I attended Life Chiro.; strong in philosophy, education, and technique. I see 550 pv/week. If you study schools, straight chiros are very successful. The people want CHIROPRACTIC!!!
@thehomefront After 20+ years in chiropractic I stil love proving how and how much I'm in chiropractic, and I would love nothing else for you to succeed too. Why? We need you to carry on chiropracTIC not medipracty. Medipractors don't succeed. This is a fact! After administering symptomatic allopathic care, they quickly burn out, eventually turning against their own profession because of their failure. I invite anyone interested in chiropractic to my office or collegues to learn chiropracTIC.
Im a NUHS grad and Life has lost it's accreditation multiple times because you continue to practice not off of anatomy and evidence based practice but the punch you're fed there while at school. You're a dying breed hopefully soon Life and Sherman will both lose their accreditation for good and the chiropractic community will get more respect
@mikerobinsonn although the term "mixer" has long been in use, it's really a misnomer. it suggests that one mixes chiropractic with therapy. the truth is that a real chiropractor disdains therapeutics as a medicinal crutch for the failed chiropractor to fall back on from not getting results as a consequence of failing to successfully clear nerve interference.
