  • Does anyone know the final song name?

  • @hero2zero1 that's what the trailer's saying man, content of the film is potentially very different. animal kingdom trailer case and point. i haven't seen this though.

  • sent to my FB...this was such a great attempt... michelle has such a good heart, a true hero

  • @hero2zero1 In a way it did change history. The restrictions and regulations now put on protests and demonstrations, as they mentioned in the end of the movie, changed the way we can protest. Not a change for the better i must add, but a change none the less

  • @hero2zero1 this flim wasnt made by Hollywood. the stories characters aren't really but the event are. im not saying don't be suspicious just know your facts first before you go spouting off at the mouth.

  • @hero2zero1 Have you seen the movie? In the ending of it they showed since we did that other nations that WTO went to, they also rioted them. This was one of the first steps to getting people to understand what they do. FYI I'm a Washingtonian and proud of this moment in Seattle history.

  • The high rated commenters have clearly not watched the film, and neither have those that voted up their comments. That the WTO still functions the same today, pushing the same economic policies is stressed very clearly at the end.

  • what makes this funny.......it was filmed in Vancouver

  • @thecherrybomber then why does it look EXACTLY like Seattle?

  • @FalconAlpaca some of the backround shots are actually seattle - like most of the hundreds of films made in vancouver every year, its used to make it look like the city its based in......the scene where they are all blocking the intersection, is actually Pender st. in Vancouver

  • globalization= poor countries getting richer, in small increments, but richer nonetheless. Without WTO, life expectancy would be similar to pre-industrial, agrarian societies. This means that your food production is going to be beholden to the gods (droughts, food shortages, etc). WTO also reallocates inefficiencies in the economy, meaning getting the most competitive priced laborers. This slow trickle of redistribution of wealth by means of classical economics creates animosity.

  • @picadequeso It also makes some people, namely corporations (it is considered people in usa), really rich. Unless you find a solution to mass poverty everywhere and sustain the same standard of living, you will have continual debate and protests. I see the benefits of WTO, but I also see their negative impact.

  • @picadequeso Too bad i always wake up at the wrong side of capitalism and i can see no good in the economic system that enslaves humans....moron

  • ok a-hole

  • @MitSelf003 What economic system would you recommend, oh wise anarchist?

  • @IronViking99 I would recommend a system based on the moto "from each according to ability, to each according to need". Capitalism is an irrational economic system, the wealth is concentrated in the hand of the few and so does the power. I know you are allergic to terms like "libertarian communism" (like the true american that you are) so i'm gonna use the IWW term: Industrial Democracy. If you wanna learn more we can talk this through with pm's.

  • @hero2zero1 true. rioters fail because they have no plan for after.

  • @hero2zero1 What do you mean by industrial action?

  • sick movie - want to watch it again and again!. i found a copy at "bigmovies4free" - hope they make another :P

  • @MatthewYoung25880 they will as soon as you start another riot

  • good propoganda peice.

  • COP15 in Copenhagen - yesterday, 70.000 (estimated number) demonstrators marched through the city. Thankfully it was a planned and peacefully demonstration. However, think about what would happen, if just 10.000 of those demonstrators were only after trouble.. Now that would've been one hell of a chaos.

  • it doesn't look like this is true information and in fact i think it seems to just forwards to a spam site. proceed with caution and i would think this link needs to get reported and removed. i did a search for the url and the movie title and didn't come up with anything either.

  • Puerto Rico....por ahi vamos!

  • lame

  • this protest was faux. it was a faux news promo and all the protestors were really republican plants meant to cause fear among the liberals in seattle, bush planed to rule seattle from afar, like a nation state. he failed but in the wake of the coup the faux sence of faux news's fauxes was fauxed and micahel j faux was fauxed with fauxensons disease.

  • Please tell me your joking...

and please learn how to spell..

  • The Black Block caused the physical destruction and had protected housing.

  • I hope this movie might get some folks talking, especially in light of the recent faux-protests in DC (9/12).

But it also makes me cringe to see it dramatized in typical hollywood fashion. i just hope people use it as a jump-off point to get into the real issues, and not just as a way to popularize and gloss over.

i think jdugmar says it best in his comment below.

  • At 1:41, what are they chanting?

  • THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING

  • aint no power like the power of the people cause the power of the people dont stop

  • @brooks999 say what??

  • its funny cause i think this protest was signifcant but the left in this country is so western/eurocentric. "the battle of seattle" was not the first or the largest demonstration or even most important event of the anti "investors rights globalization" movement. These things had and have continued to go on in central and south America for quite sometime and leftist and others involved should recognize that

  • At least they couldn't ignore Hurricane Katrina on the news (although they tried.)

  • Like it or hate it, this movie will at least have you talking. As the filmmaker said, the news media (which the powerful and rich own) did very little coverage on this thing when it happened, so unless you lived in Seattle at the time or was interested in the WTO, you wouldn't have know much about it.

I like movies that make people think about the state of the world around them. It's anti-Twilight cinema.

  • I agree with this. I was living in Florida at the time and there was almost no coverage of what was going on at all. Major media outlets, specifically television, completely toed the government/corporate line on this conflict and just ignored it entirely.

In 2004 I was reminded about this event when, living in NY, I witnessed the better part of 750,000 people stretch from midtown all the way down to the village in protest and not even the local NY stations ran anything on it.

    Shame.

  • I agree. People need to be more aware of the ease in which the mainstream media can depoliticize events like this and turn them into nothing more than non-threatening demonstrations of our supposed freedoms.

  • whats the end song name ?

  • i love this fcnk movie

  • whats the name of the song @ 16:25 in the movie? does anyone know? it's not in the song list.

  • America talks the most about freedom and democracy but gives it the least... i am sorry are black people today considerd as 1st class citizens...ummm...that's a tricky one...

  • i can't make out any of the chants the protestors were saying except "nobody in, nobody out" and "the whole world is watching" but what's all that other stuff they're saying? I live in SF and always see this stuff minus the riots and can never make out what they're screaming, it's such a trip.

  • They're also saying "THIS IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE".

And actually, a real protest for social change DOES look that messy. Nobody ever made change with polite demonstrations asking kindly to please stop raping and pilaging the earth and wage slaving its inhabitants and/or keeping us all in a state of perma-war, thank you.

  • Really good movie, expect that they just had to put their opinion at the end of the movie, it ruins it, now i have the idea that the entire point of the movie was to get me to protest. If i'd known that i would'n have watched the movie, I wacht movies for fun, not to base my opinions on.

I'm really starting to think that I watched some kind of propaganda.

Overall great movie, great acting but do NOT make it an advertisements for your cause, allthough i agree, just don't put it in a movie.

  • I can't think of a movie that doesn't try to make some kind of point. Just because the point in this particular movie was political doesn't make it any different.

I'm not even defending the movie either because I disliked it quite a bit, since they depicted the anarchists as being either inarticulate buffoons or police provocateurs, and neither was true for the anarchists at the WTO.

  • this was such a good movie

  • There is noting mindless about public discussion. At least other people can follow along if they want and hopefully do a bit of thinking.

"you should look up the dictionary's definition of anarchy"

Way to ignore over a century of anarchist thinkers, movements, and societies. I guess a single definition of the word anarchy - as opposed to anarchism - trumps all that.

  • Hey, how's Somalia doing? They're total anarchists, so they must be super fantastic in your eyes right? Fucking wrong.

  • "Hey, how's Somalia doing? They're total anarchists, so they must be super fantastic in your eyes right? Fucking wrong."

Hey, jackass. Somalia is controlled by gangs, religious extremists, and US backed warlords. It is anything but an anarchist society.

  • check out the obama deception

  • What a great film. It inspired me.

Everyone that has watched this film liked it a lot. It reminded me to have courage. Even if i am helping battery hens I am doing something but these characters were out there in costume~! Thanks Stuart for making this film and doing a great job. Love always Lara

  • Too bad films that provoke thought no longer get a theatrical release in America!

  • "God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion." -Thomas Jefferson

We now are dealing with a government that no longer works for us. Revolution Anyone??????

  • @jeandfilms Our only option at this point is REVOLUTION. I believe that the most effective way to fight back is to simply stop paying our Federal Income Tax. States can kick the IRS out. We can demand that our representatives stand up to the Banksters. Americans need to take action NOW!

  • YAH GO COPS.......

  • PLEASE PEOPLE, tell your friends and relatives to watch this film. We are the people. Yes, companies need to make money, but how many lives does it have to cost for them to stay in business. There needs to be some sort of accountability. GREED is proving to be fatal, for everybody. Just watch what's happening. Who would have thought the economy would simply collapse like this!?

  • I dont mean to be offensive to anybody that reads this but its time for a revolution. that is of course diplomacy fails

  • Some of this riot footage is real they are using it in this movie. Its been known that police will use tactics involving a planted cop or official disguised as a rioter and intentionally damage property among the peacefull protesters. Therefore the cops are then allowed to use necessary force to contain the crowd. Its a tactic that I see to much now these days.

  • This is what stupidity looks like.

  • I don't get these so called "Anarchists" that turn non violent protests violent, how the fuck are you going to take on a whole police force of Seattle and National Guard?? Anarchy will NEVER work in America. If these anarchists lived a day in Somalia they'd be shot in the streets.

  • So would you! Anarchy is not happening in Somalia, that is not anarchy. Goddamn.

  • whatever i don't give a fuck i'm gonna drink my beer. fuck politics.

  • actually a lot of what is happening in Somalia is Anarchy, Americans don't take over ships off the coast of Florida, although they should. There is no real form of Goverment , except the insurgents and warlords that is Anarchy look up the definition.

  • Somalia is not an anarchist society.

Nevermind the dictionary's definition of anarchy. You need to read about the history of anarchism.

  • ok genius tell me what somalia is, run by warlords, insurgents, militias, no form of goverment since 1991 all the ingredients of anarchy. America wil be like this in the future, anarchy is not peace love and hippies.

  • Anarchism is about freedom of the individual and is in opposition to all forms of hierarchy and coercion. Warlords and militias are both hierarchical and coercive, and they are essentially small scale de facto governments. By definition, it is not anarchy.

  • you must be an activist or a pc punk.. my defition of anarchy is chaos and it always will be that defintion. Autonomy and Anarchy will never work when there is a form of goverment ,police, military etc.. your in a dreamland.

  • Your ignorance just amazes me. You obviously dont know what anarchy is. Anarchy is a peaceful society where government is unnecessary. Somalia is a war zone with different factions fighting for power.

  • I've always thought of Anarchy similarly to Communism. Ideally, it's perfect. But it's only as perfect as the people who practice it. People are not perfect.

  • I agree, thats why there isnt a true communist society, its always taken over by power hungry dictators.

  • It doesn't make any sense to use that argument against anarchism. If people aren't perfect, then why do you allow politicians, bosses and cops to have their way unchallenged? At least anarchism evens the playing field and people's imperfections have milder consequences.

  • Unchallenged? No, we certainly don't want them to be unchallenged. But as snobby as this may seem, most politicians are just slightly more qualified to make decisions than the common man.

Look, in my opinion, "people are imperfect" is an understatement. Given the freedom to, people can be monsters. The only reason some or most of us AREN'T heartless beasts is because our actions have legal consequences under an established government.

  • "most politicians are just slightly more qualified to make decisions than the common man. "

Qualified to what? Control people's lives against their will? A doctor can't force surgery on me if I don't want it just because they're more qualified. Why does this consensual relationship not apply to government?

  • "The only reason some or most of us AREN'T heartless beasts is because our actions have legal consequences under an established government."

Yeah, because economic inequality, incarceration (putting people in cages), killing foreigners, police control, destroying freedoms for religious values, and economic destruction are not monstrous themselves...

  • If a doctor wants to perform a surgery, he wants to make money. It could also be because you have a disease that HE can recognize but YOU can't. Why? Because he spent eight years training as a doctor.

Economic inequality and incarceration certainly are not pleasant. I'm not saying politicans are saints. I'm saying that if you gave all the decision-making rights politicians have to Joe Schmo down the street, he'd blow up the whole world and wouldn't even know why.

  • You completely missed my point. It doesn't matter how much of an expert someone is, they can't do anything to me without consent.

I'm not advocating giving Joe Schmo any authority or power. I'm advocating that no one should be capable of destroying the world yet you're saying politicians should have that power.

  • Hmph, in which case, allow me to modify my argument.

I personally think that freedom is highly overrated. Give me knowledge and virtue before you grant me freedom, lest I abuse it.

I think that, like it or not, we NEED restrictions on our freedom. We need to be limited in what we can or cannot do. We also need people with power to stop us from going to the darker places (because there we will go). For better or worse, politicians are the best we've got.

  • If they make it seem like the Anarchists STARTED the looting and riots, and make no mention about the undercover FBI agents or the FEMA camps I'm going to be pissed.

  • omg me too

  • It sure changed me.

  • We should have 10X as many people protesting and shutting down the tobacco drug pushers like R.J. Reynolds and Philip Morris, whose tobacco weapon of destruction kills 5,000,000 users and hundreds of thousands of INNOCENT people (who breathed toxic tobacco smoke) around the world every year. Smoking and tobacco must both be banned NOW!

  • You got the right idea, but try again.

  • I agree! I fear dearly for my mothers life yet to her im full of shit! Here the government allows tobacco to be legal but make marijuana illegal, i know its not the point but marijuana is medicine and should not be treated like a drug. Tabacco and alcohol kills millions by millions every year but its legal. OUR FUCKIN GOV'T SUCKS!!

  • there was this song just right when the movie ended.kind of reggae.i think it is called "signs" but i can't find it.does anyone know it?

  • I could not believe this when I saw the trailer. I too was caught up in this craziness while living in Seattle at the dawn of the Millenium.

What a crazy time to be in that city. With Y2K looming, rumors of an attack on the space needle for new years and of course the WTO riots.

When I tell my stories of those times, I luckily get to add that I was tear gassed not once, but 2 days in a row. Wet coffee filters dont help either...

  • I briefly got caught in the crossfire of this event as a kid, I really want to see this film. Woody Harrelson has been doing some very off-beat but excellent films lately, I'm not a fan of him, but his picked some great projects.

Fuck all those people who came and trashed my city and the horse they rode in on. You turned more people against you than you opened the eyes of. Congrats for nothing.

  • i was in 8th grade and me my sis and our cousins were down there it was crazy as hell i'll never forget it

  • Go to greatmovies[DOT]tk to watch this movie and many more for free.

  • Hey!!! to view this movie and over 25,000 more go to greatmovies[DOT]tk

  • when did this come out??

or is it coming out in the future.

    does anybody know.?

  • it came out already. it was in theaters a while back and it's really good.

  • Are we that ignorant to stereotype an entire country of people? Within such masses I can promise you multiple views. Get over yourself, truly. Like all things in life, there negative elements and positive. Deal with it. Such hatered towards anyone or any group is pathedic

  • Anyone know where I can get the music playing from 1:20 onwards?

  • Amazing.

  • lets watch it :D I download it just few min.. ago.

  • USA iz most undemokratik states in the world.

  • dom ä ta mig katten inte kloka.

  • That's because the USA is not a Democracy. It is a constitutional republic. We are governed by law, not by the people. Through Democracy, a majority can pick on a minority. We are governed by The Constitution and our rights are protected by it.

Watch some of my videos you might learn something.

  • Comment removed

  • Cenamark2: Our rights ARE being walked all over. The Constitution is FAILING at protecting our rights, and the majority DO pick on the minority in this country. Hello, Prop. 8?!?! Perhaps you need to learn something my friend, and double check your facts before you try and trash on others.

  • ehh, no

  • At first I was going to say that "I'm shocked that someone would try to make money off of this sad event in history" but then I remembered capitalism.

No human or moral values, just the dollar value.

  • You consider the fact that this film was made to be lacking moral value?? That's retarded. There's nothing wrong with recreating historical events. This was an indie flick, it didn't even make a lot of money. I suppose you think a film like Schlinder's List was lacking moral or human values too.

  • It's a great movie, stop bitching and go watch it... :p

  • wow more trash from someone without a pair

  • Take it easy short bus! fuckin dip.

  • This isn't from Hollywood it was made by stupid Canadians.

  • that´s why it´s worth watching it, cenamark2.

    fuck hollywood

  • topo77granate is right, Hollywood doesn't make movies where the world elite or America itself looks bad. Hollywood is a propaganda machine to enforce the political agenda...

  • To:(Cenamark2)

HOW THE FUCK ARE CANADIANS STUPID?!

HELLO?! THE UNITED STATES ELECTED PRESIDENT BUSH...TWICE!

(let's go to war with the middle east to steal their oil...but put it down to "national security" and "terrorism")

    dickhead.

    yanks are filth.

Hollywood is stupid, they only produce re-makes and cliche films.

we'll wait for you to direct and produce a masterpiece and then people may start to listen to your bullshit buddy.

    argh.

  • you elected a corrupt leader twice into office what did that get you? 2 failed wars, not capturing Osama for Sept 11 and the destruction of the economy hmmmm I wonder who really is stupid?

  • Of course the movie has an anti-anarchism message in it. Hollywood is not in bed with anarchists. Anarchists are interested in truth and justice, not profit and propaganda.

Hollywood is a corporation, in bed with the other corporations, gay midget parties since the days of Fatty Arbuckle, so you could say, Hollywood is the mouthpiece for it's fellow corporations, but has to pretend to be a seperate entity. Creepy.

  • See how dumb people who work for the WTO (Satan) are? Driven by greed alone they have no brains. One didinformation agent just asked if I really believe in that "Conspiracy Teory Bull Shit" ha, it's the reason for the entire protest, or would you say the WTO conspires no ill will towards the rest of us? Has no connection to world domination plots? Iddiot.

  • "I do not fear untrained men" - Julius Caesar

  • i want to watch this!

  • you just have to use torrent... if you don't know what it is google it!

  • i kinda downloaded it from ares (:

  • Most of the people in the movie aren't anarchists although sadly enough all of the people who were vandalizing stuff were anarchists and no peaceful protester identified as an anarchist. There are only a few small seens of anarchists and michelle rodriguez is an ex-anarchist in this movie. she mentions that she was also an animal activist at one time too.

  • I watched this tonight. The most gripping movie I have ever seen. This trailer doesn't even do it justice. It was really fair and didn't make cops into evil monsters either. Everyone who hasn't seen it should as soon as possible. This movie is amazing people.

  • hmmm im from seattle and i dont really see how this changed the city of seattle so much. yeah it changed history. but aside from seattle having to pay 20 million dollars for damages, its not like people are walking around remembering it like it was 9/11.

ill tell you what really hurts this city...

LOOSING THE SONICS!!! DAMN YOU CLAY BENNETT YOU OKLAHOMA CITY BASTARD!!!

  • The Battle in Seattle's important for the Civil Disobedience History & we need CDisob as long as there's people willing to put their boots upon other people's head.. Too much violence? Yes.Like the silent violence WTO & friends do every minute to the majority world..& to the planet.

There's a complete documentary of this protest made by CrimethInk. Thanks for every person that is prepared to take the RISK to do SOMETHING for our people, animals & planet.

  • michele rodriguez plays an anarchist. well thats someone that if i met in real life i will fall in love instantly.

  • a salute to the anarchists of the world!!!!!!!!

  • when is this movie coming out?

  • this been out for a while now

    go to yahoo movies

  • i hate it where i live the good movies never come out even the Americana theater "Pacific Theate" didnt have it

  • I LOVE SEATTLE!!!!!!!!!!! My home town!!! and I am proud that we all stood up against this BS!!! Good movie, people who don't like it don't understand the significance it played in our country's history. We all united through our differences to come together to try and stop something that would potentially hurt us all.

  • I remeber my friends father bloodied when he came back from Seattle.I was 14 at the time.

  • this movie doesn't sound interesting. it's about a fucken protest for god sake. how did they manage to get a budget to make this movie.

  • give it a chance...it's a pretty good movie if you focus on the characters...

  • go watch the regular action rambo hollywood shit then. personally i think its horrendous that in the USA they waste millions of dollars on movies and in most cases in bad movies. i mean there you have a good example why capitalism is a horrible destructive wasteful system.

  • first of all dumb ass, I'm not from the U.S (I'm Canadian), i hate capitalism, and you are such a fucken idiot for coming up with such a stupid conclusion just because i find the theme of the movie uninteresting and stupid. if you were in power and you made stupid assumptions like this you would have run a system just as horrible, destructive, and wasteful as what you described. you are a fucken waste bucket.

  • 1. i never said you were from the USA and from what i said before you cant assume i thought you were from there.

    2. the theme of the movie is not the conventional hollywood script, thats why it makes one think you like conventional mass products.

  • i can understand your view but i hope you can see it from my point of view.you have to admit it is harder to take a movie seriously as a dramatic story if the theme is as cheese and uninteresting as this.

  • Hey I don't know if you watched the movie but i did today in theaters and it is not pro-anarchist. Its actually really unfair to anarchists. It shows them as the ones who vandalized stuff and caused trouble for the peaceful protesters.

  • Really? Did they show the tuxedo pigs paying off the vandals to go destroy stuff to deliberatly make the protesters look bad?

Did they show how Hollywood is owned by the same sack of chit and wouldn't dare put out a truthful honest movie. Best movie I ever saw was Loose Change.

  • Surely you don't believe that conspiracy theory bullshit? No one paid the anarchists. They were there of their own accord.

  • well i havent seen it. i heardt of it on tv and read reviews of it from anarchists on the internet. anyway hopefully soon there might be a dvd release and us ecuadorians are lucky to have movie and music piracy almost legalized by the current leftist president.

  • Ha! Go watch Twilight then.

  • A protest like this will never happen again in North America. 9/11 made sure such dissent could be crushed in the name of national security. Today, all these protest groups would have their email and phone calls monitored and people can now be arrested without cause.

The anti globalization movement was gaining alot of momentum until 9/11, now the protests are not mainstream but back to the regular hippy crowd.

The battle in Seattle was a pivotal time in our history.

  • I agree to a extent twopie2, but enforcing the arrest of a large crowd is a difficult task, even with national guard present. We're a gun-toting nation. Directive 51 and Patriot Act is what you're refering to, I just hope that when the time comes we just dont't roll over and take it.

  • we probably will.

  • how dare they spectacularise protest. how dare they capitalise on popular confrontation. SICKENING to see old unsubstantiated stereotypes of anarchists being reinforced

Down with spectacular society, reclaim your life in the rythmic order of anarchy!

  • Unfortunately, I happen to live in Germany, and it's going to be a long while until I get to see this movie.

Having seen the trailer (and knowing Charlize Theron and Michelle Rodriguez are in it), I can barely wait!

  • check ninjavideo. its on there ;)

  • Looks like a pretty good movie.

  • who controls the world israeli lobby controls the world for the uploader of this video

  • Coming from somebody who was there (worked at the Westin) and just saw the movie; I can say this movie is way off the mark. For three nights my car got pelted (golf balls, rocks, etc.); not by anarchists but by these "peace loving" laborors, union marchers, etc. I was on their (protesters) side, until they ALL went ape and destroyed our city. The police (whom I don't always support) did a great job that week, despite what was has been depicted and shown.

  • I've just seen this film. I is excellent. It was very moving. My only criticism is that anarchist are portrayed and mindless vandals. there is a lot more to anarchism than the Black Bloc. But this is a minor quibble. Go watch it.

  • what is the background music in the trailer

it makes the trailer score excellent

  • The film about the anti-capitalist protests are being made by corporate capitalists -- do not let history become distorted.

"Until the lions have historians of their own, tales of the hunt will always glorify the hunter."

    —African Proverb

    WOW! What a great proverb!

  • They portrayed the anarchists as macho knuckleheads.

  • ANARCHY!!!!!!!! viva la anarquía

  • bem dito! :)

    (A)!!

  • woawo this happen all the time here in europe because we are brave citizens i really like this movie its awesome and its the first step for americans to wake up and see what is really going on with the WTO...and your polcie brutality..8also withthose radicals left wing idiots who destroy evrything for the peace protesters)

  • fucking bastards, wait , the us goverment is ready. soon not iraqis will be fucked up , you the american will be fucked by police. Marshall Law ACTIVE

  • its worse, new home land security law soon in 2009 :( if mccain wins

  • that was a good movie-trailer

realy made me want to watch this movie

  • great movie !

  • The film about the anti-capitalist protests are being made by corporate capitalists -- do not let history become distorted.

"Until the lions have historians of their own, tales of the hunt will always glorify the hunter."

    —African Proverb

  • america is best example of a captlaistic country

  • WAKE UP

  • Saw this last night. Great cast. Great acting. Impressive directing. Hollywood studios are pussies with this type of material, that's why it had to be made independent.

  • yeah! -Most off the Hollywood movies are really thin and yeah -doesnt really have ANY opinions regarding anything other than making money.

  • i'd be willing to bet anything that this is way slanted against anarchists.
