Why don't we extend self-regulation to other areas, seeing as it's been so very successful in controlling the newspapers and bankers? Who'd be better qualified than a panel of thieves to regulate their own kind? Likewise traffic offences. We could save billions by scrapping the police and relying on honest citizens to censure themselves if they exceed the speed limit. If the slimeballs of the press don't need fines imposed on them when they break the rules, why should motorists have to pay them?
