This trailer intrigues me. Gonna watch it now. I just discovered the band Zola Jesus (not sure if I like them yet), and an interview with the singer led me to this movie. Thanks for uploading this.
Man I just caught a version of this in the theater last night that's only been shown in North America three times. It's a terrible move, in a good way.
I'm so happy Code Red is releasing this on DVD Nov. 2, 2010....I first saw this as a sneak preview back in '79 and got the poster too. Sure, it's odd, but that's because is has a very European flair to it, though it has North American actors. I defend this movie always, it's too unusual to pass off as a misfire. Not your typical Hollywood stuff!
@desertlonghair My copy is on pre-order, eager to get it! And I wanted to mention that when I say it's "odd" (in a good way) because it has a European flair to it, I mean that the European films (even horror/sci-fi) are more willing to be more experimental and "unusual" in the eyes of typical "Americans"... I for one seek out the unusual, and that's why The Visitor has been one of my faves for all these years :)
@pookie67 Just one, at about 0.21. The audio has a few pops and hisses, but it just looks like, well, a transfer from a VHS copy. The cuts, however, are quite nice. If you had told me it was a vintage trailer, I would have believed it. You really have the style down pat, like I said except for the profanity and the "sting", but that's just a matter of my own personal taste.
Plus, that girl's fricking creepy. Just as creepy as Linda Blair.
Good trailer, very much in the style of the 70s trailers, with two exceptions. one is the "sting" at the end of the credits, which seems to me a modern touch and seems jarring. The other is the use of profanity; I know that "Red Band" trailers are more prevalent these days, but I stil think the best trailers are more suggestive than explicit. But still, a great job, and it's always a treat to hear John Huston's voice!
First movie i seen with a video game as a kid. Hey what is the one where the girl was watching the familly from the hole in the ceiling? was it "Godsend"? Wasn't " The Children" after this movie? Anyone remember "The Legacy"?
The Visitor is a classic that I remember from the early 80's. One of a string of movies from the director of Tentacles and other Italian horror movies from the 70's. great cast, but a disjointed and confusing movie that is a real period piece for the music and style. Used to be played often in the early 80's on one of the New York City t.v. stations and always creeped me out. What stood out as well was many of the scenes were filmed in Atlanta.
john huston as obi wan kenobi! Huston would have been a cool obi wan, too. Instead, he was gandolf.
Nice ROF soundtrack music at the end. Correct me if I'm thinking of another film but my dad and I used to make fun of this movie all the time with huston doing exercises on rooftops during the film?
So, is it available on DVD? As awful as it is, I wouldn't pass it up!
I interviewed Lance Henriksen once and we spoke briefly about it, and about his work with producer Ovidio Assonitis, with whom he also did PIRANHA II and CHOKE CANYON (which is probably the best of their films - but also isn't on DVD yet!)
Wow, thanks for posting this. The "Visitor" has to be one of the worst movies of all time but it has that train-wreck quality that makes you watch it again and again.
It's also the one time on screen appearance of radio talk show host Neal Boortz. If you want to get kicked off his show, bring up the "Visitor"
He was one of the "board members" and only had a couple of lines. This is from memory of course, but I remember him saying to Lance Henrikson "Do you have everything you want, is it everything you need?" Something like that.
o ok. i kno who ur talking about. it was in that scene with that long ass table with mel Ferrer sitting on one end and all those old bald guys wearing glasses sitting around
That's it. There's also a short shot towards the end where all the board members are eaten up (presumably by the mob of pigoens) and you can pick out Boortz with his head over on the table next to Bernie "Boom Boom" Geoffrion. The Boomer also has a line about the same time Boortz speaks. Mind you I haven't seen this since it premiered in Atlanta, but like chewing gum on a shoe sole, this crap is hard to shake out of your memory! LOL
