Lord Almighty !!! What incredible perfection; tonality, balance, tempo. I am on the edge of my chair afraid that I will miss something. The interpretation, technique and musicality in this performance leaves me short of breath.
Beautiful! Everyone can stop saying it was in The King's Speech now. Great movie, but I hope that's not the only reason you looked up Beethoven on youtube.
I heard symphony for the first time at an office supply store in San Francisco. I was lookiing for pens and this symphony started playing through the store via KDFC. I was captivated. Listened while the entire symphony played. It's beautiful. Years later when I owned a BMW convertible, I loved the last movement, last minute, stepped on the accelerator, and blasted into outer space.
This conductor is brilliant and a disaster as well!! The fact he conducts without score is brilliant. The fact i have to watch him more than i hear the music is a disaster. But it's a wonderful peace and excellent performed.
This interpretation is perfect! Most conductors drag it out way too much (even the classic Karajan-Berlin Phil combination); it's not even about tempo anymore, the atmosphere is completely wrong.
Here Haitink brings out everything this movement should represent: his interpretation is regal, dignified and spot-on in terms of tempo.
Just like there will be probably people arguing over the music you like, right? And that music will never be sampled by classical orchestra, as this is timeless and your sampled music is not.

@AlainNaigeon slowlier? are you a fuckin retard? and if i wanted to know what allegretto means i'd just check on wikipedia you dumb fuck, which is probably what you just did anyway, cockface
So what ? Every site on music agree with me. Do you think "somewhat slowlier than allegro" is really slow ? I didn't say that, I added "but not quite slow".
Read what I've written.
+ whatever you mean, respect *your* own person by not adding insane words.
Everyone can now guess what kind of person *you* are.
There are several possible renditions of a piece; we might prefer one over the other.
But, having read you, between Haitins'opinion, and your's, I wouldn't hesitate too long.
blah blah blah, i couldnt even be bothered reading what you wrote, i can't believe you wasted so much of your own time trying to get back at someone on youtube, hahahaha, you puff

Did you get a mail from Ludwig ?
BTW, Allegretto means somewhat slowlier than Allegro, but not quite slow.
