What a coincidence, Fade to Black, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), One and The Day That Never Comes have similar structures because they contain an acoustic introduction, followed by a riff by Kirk Hammett, three guitar solos and an explosive ending. And they are the song number 4 on their albums. Again, WHAT A COINCIDENCE
I had a chance to see Metallica with Guns n Roses but I got into trouble for sneaking out of the house. I am still bummed to this day. They took my sister instead she was like ten, that was fucked up she didnt even know who they were
@HENDRIXREBORN93 wrong st angers sucks here death magnetic is ok and other point to say that you are bad they were calling sell out since 1984 so that isnt new for they and cliff said if they call us sell out then whatever we do what we want to do
I hate how all of the young teens these day (I'm 14) listen that shitty stuff they call music (Justin bieber and other gay sellouts) these day. Good bands like Metallica, Van Halen, and Led Zeplin are becoming more and more unheard of as time goes by! Plus other teens are not trying anymore to learn instruments, it's just sad! But aaanyway, this video is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!
@MrAcdz Thats right! love that concert too....shame guns n roses never gave a realy big concert that was this great tho....always or xl stopping the show, or the sound quality sucking, or some other reason why itcouldnt be like this....
People make posts about cliff or jason or 1980's or 1990's Metallica, who cares!!!! This stuff is AWESOME!!. Just enjoy the postings. Metallica's Seattle DVD is their best performance of just about every song on there. MOP from Seattle 1989 beats the crap out of the album version. As does this version of ONE!!!!.
Are you REALLY including Load and Reload in the good years? I nearly slit my wrists after listening to those albums, couldn't believe beloved Metallica from youth had gone forever. And you just can't head bang with short hair, and they were damn good at that.
@HENDRIXREBORN93 your totally right metallica have pretty much become mainstream now a days. its a sad site to see but they are media whores lol :P wish they would go back to the pre-load era when they were in their prime!

I wish Kirk still played Jackson "V"s... his tone became so swarky when he moved to ESP...Lead sound on first three albums is smooth but aggressive...now he sounds like a cockatoo with bad roids, sorry krk fans dont mean to bag the dude...
@xCMxMach Nothing that good can last. It's as if you took his balls and put them right in his throat. Fucking amazing. His voice is still cool though, I've just seen them live and he sang really fucking well.
I'm the worst of all, I'm from Colombia, and the music of this region is reggaeton, a cheap copy of rap, composite with electronics. The worst music in history.
eh reagaeton worst then rap its dumb asses counting and it shouldnt be compared with music it shouldnt even have the word raggae in it cuz some raggae is actually okay music
Metallica are one of the countless reasons why I should have been born a decade or two earlier!!! Being born in 1993 is okay, but I'm growing up with damned Hip-Hop, Rap and shit like that!
I want rock and metal to be the main music of the world, and not some shitty Lil' Wayne, Chipmunk or 50 Cent!!!
I feel with you men. Being born in this part of time sucks. Everyone walks around with the damn Hip-Hop Bullshit, talking about niggas, bitches, drugs and so on.
I have luck, i have 2 other friends who are into metallica too. but the rest of my location sucks.
Rap, Hip-Hop and all that shit should be dead! Rock and Metal IS music, and it should be international law that ALL must bow down to the World Of Rock/Metal!!!
lol i used to think like you man dont get me wrong i love metallica and thrash but modern day rock is almost as bad as lil wayne(btw those are not examples of good rap just saying there is actually good shit out there trust me)i mean u have all these bands like popa roach capatilizing on the fact that kids feel out kast from modern society so they write "lyrics" about that generic shit that ppl "relate" to but so far u have some what of a good taste i mean ur listening to(good old) metallica!!
Modern rock isn't really as good as rock from the good old 80s (my favourite decade for music), and I'm 16 years old, and I really don't listen much to modern stuff...All my music is either Metallica and other heavy metal bands from the 80s like Iron Maiden, AC/DC and Led Guns 'N' Roses!
:-D
Well, Guns 'N' Roses aren't thrash metal, but they're still great!
i used to love all that shit but trust me if u look really hard out side of old rock (and rock in general) theres some really great music acdc get kinda old after a while (i think all there stuff sounds exactly the same but that just my oppinion) maidens great and i never liked g and r they kinda just ripped off alot of way older glam bands i think there a little over rated (and the 80s had some great music but there was alot of shit in it too) but yeah trust me even some modern music is great
cliff is dead remember that... its a shame.but what can we do? just forget that.. he was very good but like i sad is dead.. so get up your head and keep rocking!!!
Hmm... What about 60's and 70's man?Was music very good or shit too?Mainstream is now 90% shit but you can still find something interesting on You Tube or My Space.
@EazYJaM it isn't only shit the new album is a great album which can be compared with the old stuff. and the music in the 90's wasn't metallica, you know, they did some kind of hard rock. that is not metallicas style but they are back!
@Rocker095150 Death Magnetic is ok, a few great tracks. and the black album. I don't care how much it sells, it was the decline of Metallica. A bunch of slow radio friendly tracks. only half the album is listenable
I still think James and Lars were total cocks for cutting the bass out of this album and treating Jason like shit over the years, but this song is brilliant, that must be said.
What Im saying is, Metallica as people are rockstar bitches with too much money but as musicians are brilliant.
mate, too bad u cannot understand why actually they cut Jason's bass out and disrespected him,and though neither do I think that's ok,i do understand their behaviour because of Cliif's loss....trust me,they aren't bitches....
Cliff wouldn't have approved of the bass cutting either. Loss or not, what they did was inexcusable, and they haven't even tried to make up for it by having the album remastered or anything...
i think they need to kick the fucking retard whos playing for them now and bring jason back i mean he played at there induction to the rock and roll hall of fame
James apparently is just a regular guy outside of the band. He turned down an autograph for my friend because he was being "family James" instead of "Metallica James."
cliff was great, but he didn't MAKE metallica. A band is a team, not one man. Everything metallica did after his death was greaat! Load and Reload were different, still great. St Anger sounded fucked, but still had great songs! Death Magnetic kicks all haters in their nuts.

by the way, dont you think it would be perfect to have more metallica instrumental songs? i love them.. orion, to live is to die, and the call of ktulu ... real music!
Well, I think that playing the instrumentals is difficult for James, Kirk and Lars because of Cliff you know...He wrtoe the whole bass line for Ktulu, Orion was played at his funeral and they did not perform it until 2006, and to live is to die was written in memory of him. So I don't think they will do too many performs of these songs. They played Ktulu 5 years ago, Orion 2 years ago and Suicide and Redemption this summer, so they play them very rarely
yea i know they played orion in 2006 because of the 20 anniversary of master of puppets... (i wonder if we'll have to wait until 2016 to see them playing orion again xD)... i think they have enough experience to make instrumental songs, but for some reason they dont want to... maybe they need more inspiration i dont know..
idk I would say that yeah Lars was a great drummer but there are better drummers out there. Dave Lombardo, Nick Menza, and Gar Samuelson imo were better than Lars.
I think Lars is as good as Dave, just hear Dyers Eve. Of course Lombardo is insane too They are both the best in my opinion, but metallica is no doubt better than slayer
best performance ever, its like the essence of badass manifested itself on guitar, with god singing vocals; and to think they're drunk as fuck rofl. \m/ metallica!
ya ur right. lars was the best drummer but his age is starting to catch up with him. best drummer in my opinion now is tommy lee but lars is right behind him
hes still a good drummer though and it does make sense. lars isnt as good as he used to be because of his age but that doesnt mean someone his age or older can be better
that's kirk for ya! he is the most strange guitarist, in a good way. hell shred one min. melodic the next. he plays metal and at the same time is influenced by bb king and santana and bluesier players!
Yep, and if he just stuck to metal, Metallica wouldn't be as amazing as they are. Kirk blended just about everything into his style, blues, classical, metal, 60's - 70's rock styles
Kirk is a fucking emense guitarist and its like most guitarist say there is ALWAYS something new to learn on guitar, that from chords to making up your own material in different Genres lol =]
What I don't get is that in the intro you can hear helicopters, there where no helicopters in WW1, not until Vietnam. Kinda weird that they would throw that in there.
Smartest decision ever made by the lighting guy at a concert, keep them on at 5:25

hes still a good drummer though and it does make sense. lars isnt as good as he used to be because of his age but that doesnt mean someone his age or older can be better
husky940 2 years ago
yeah i see what you mean,. your right aha..
legendsonaleash 2 years ago
Imagine John Bonham in the trash metal scene.. that would be phenomenal

I have read that the Stones ranked Kirk
among the 20 best living guitar players.
Did they actually listen to masterpieces
like "Harvester of Sorrow", "Master of
Puppets" or "One" ??? These songs, and
in paticular Kirk' s solos,clearly
outclass anything the Stones might have
composed. Kirk should have been ranked
among the five best guitar players of all
times !!!

sergioth88 2 years ago 3
i love for how the solo.. it is a shred solo at first.. then becomes melodic
Darkdevil1584 2 years ago
that's kirk for ya! he is the most strange guitarist, in a good way. hell shred one min. melodic the next. he plays metal and at the same time is influenced by bb king and santana and bluesier players!
SuperMetalHead13 2 years ago
He influenced by loads of genres of music even classical =]
and hes played those genres all the time
and thats why he is such a good guitarist,
guitarist shouldnt just stick to learning one genre then not learn anything else lmao
otherwise, in my opinion its pointless, have fun learning new genres and making up your own stuff from them, would be fun and funny to do lol
and Kirk is a legend! and yesh he is very strange ina good way, hes one off the best guitarist in the world to me! \m/
GothicBlah 2 years ago 6
Yep, and if he just stuck to metal, Metallica wouldn't be as amazing as they are. Kirk blended just about everything into his style, blues, classical, metal, 60's - 70's rock styles
He is my ALL TIME favorite!
SuperMetalHead13 2 years ago 5
Damn right,
if i could meet 4 famous Guitarist of all time
they would be
Kirk, Joe Satriani, Dimebag & Jimi Hendrix
Kirk is a fucking emense guitarist and its like most guitarist say there is ALWAYS something new to learn on guitar, that from chords to making up your own material in different Genres lol =]
GothicBlah 2 years ago
I got, Kirk, James, Cliff, Dimebag.
SuperMetalHead13 2 years ago
Cliff was a bassist, but he was the best bassist I ever met ;)

What I don't get is that in the intro you can hear helicopters, there where no helicopters in WW1, not until Vietnam. Kinda weird that they would throw that in there.
finsfan90 2 years ago
Why do you assume it's WW1?? Besides WW1 has nothing to do with Vietnam.
