All bike are cool, quit bashing.. BTW, stainless steel valves drastically reduce the amount of valve adjustments. I've got over 100hrs on my crf250 since I made the switch to stainless valves and it still starts within 4 kicks.

Now I have a kato 530 (09) and the fucking 300 cant quite keep up.... the 300 EXC is a fucking legendary powerhouse. So stop ya bitching fools, bikes are bikes and we all ride, lets just enjoy the ride and stop knocking each others bikes. REAL riders dont sling shit at each others bikes, we simply have lots of fucking fun and thats what its all about kids :)

Though, you are right that the 450 got him off the line, but in another video, I'm sure he stated that he's actually gone a size bigger on the countershaft sprocket, which would make it sluggish off the line + the 40kg weight different ;)

@RonniesGarage Anything you saved on the purchase price will soon be eaten up in the cost of a rebuild and valve clearance adjustments over and over and over! Those 4 strokes are a POS!
These things can go for well over 100hrs of use before a top end rebuild if treated right. The only other real maintenance would be replacing the gearbox oil and so often.
Try that on a 450? You take it out for 5 minutes and you need to adjust the backlash on the valves again.

@PhatArtz 2 strokes are great and fun man but that doesnt mean 4 strokes are bad. i have owned a 2006 crf250r since 2008, bought it brand new. never had any problems. cleaned the carb once, check the valves every once and a while but never had to adjust them.
Listen up guys this is a fact. i had a 525exc my friend suggested i tryed a 250exc 2 stroke and it felt faster than my 525. so i phoned the ktm centre and they said that when your talking 2 strokes you have to times it by 2 so a 300cc 2 stroke is the same as a 600cc four stroke. FACT
@nogisimon So? The 300 is in the same class as the 450. It's what they ALWAYS get compared to. Yamaha AND KTM know that, yet, KTM was able to build a bike that is substantially quicker than the WR.

Though to thorougly and properly explain, one would need to go into volumetric and mechanic efficiency, and the effects that increased rotating mass from a larger number of moving parts affects the motor. Either way, it's a bloody fast bike. Finally got to take my new one out for a wrap today.
I had the same result when i raced a fuel injected KX450.... I was a bike length ahead from the beginning,,, then pulled even more when I hit 5th.. 300 power!!!
@flamerail the WR450 is the fastest top speed dirtbike/quad yamaha produces and thats a fact. you line up a yz450r and a wr450 the wr will win(top speed not track or off the line) yami is my favourite manufacturer i just bought a 2011 yz250 and love it but the 300 wide ratio ktm is a top speed monster out of the box. but again it will get beat on the track by a 250
