This is all about "what can my country do for me". it should be the other way around. California voted YES (YES), get over it. John Mccains country voted against him, he got over it that same night. he doesnt go on youtube and bitch about it
No citizen of the US who believes in the fundamental American values of freedom, equality and justice should ever allow the act of voting away civil rights from a minority group, and this is why there is widespread building support for the court case against Prop 8. Should Prop 8 stand, it becomes a dangerous threat to the basic tenets of our country. On a side note, there is a distinct difference between bitching about something and sharing something that come straight from your heart.
I know- you don't believe in God- Well let me let you in on something- The Bible says the Antichrist in the last days after Israel is reborn a nation again (1948) will make a peace treaty with Israel and many nations- a Jewish temple WILL be rebuilt and then the antichrist will show his face and make all recieve the mark of the beast (Google VERICHIP and Revelation 13:16-18)
kristimjlove, actually, I do believe in a God that loves all people whether they're gay or straight, and if I could make a suggestion, if I were you, I would ask someone what they think and believe before making a potentially-incorrect assumption. To me, marriage means two adults coming together to share a life with each other in love, and I find many marriages both straight and gay to be beautiful. I hope one day you will be able to see beyond your ignorance that love has many forms.
Oh- and PS- I do love you! That is why I am telling you the truth about the Bible and what God says. I love you- but I hate sin....and homosexuality in the eyes of GOD Almighty is a sin and he hates it.
kristimjlove, I don't understand how I made an error in sharing what marriage means to me. I understand that marriage is defined with both a social and religious meaning. Maybe you're referring to a definition of marriage per your specific religion? I think we may disagree in our beliefs about marriage, and I respect your beliefs. I hope you can respect my belief. When I see people pass Prop 8 based on their own religious beliefs, I wonder how much respect those people have towards others.
Like I said- there is only one truth. And Jesus Christ stated he was the only truth and Word was honest and true (So it is not a religion it is the truth). So if you disobey Jesus's commands...then you serve satan.
kristimjlove, I think the point that I am trying to make is that everyone believes in different religions (and some don't believe in any religion), and in the US, we all have the freedom to our religion and freedom from the religions of others. I appreciate your effort to share your religion with me, and I respect your religion. At the same time, if we differ in our religions, we should respect each other for it and not take our civil rights and freedoms away from each other.
Why did Obama pick only two Christians against same-sex marriage? That's not diverse. No other religions, and no other views? And why Rick Warren? Rick's best bud in Africa, Martin Ssempa, holds condom-burnings, publishes the names and pictures and addresses of homosexuals, and calls for the imprisonment of gays. What about AIDS? HIV infections were going down, until Rick & Ssempa's anti-condom campaign. Now infections are up again.
I agree with you TaoDusk, and it's great that there's conversations about this issue. At the same time, it's also about respect and dignity as well as disagreements in political matters, and the LGBT community's respect and dignity has been tarnished by what Warren has said and done. If Obama gives him a voice, then we deserve to have a voice at the inauguration too, especially when we are the ones who are unfairly suffering as citizens of our country. An LGBT person should speak as well.
I'm sooooo sorry one decision out of so many great ones has ruined the inauguration for you. I don't seek to change your mind or in ANY WAY ignore your feelings. I THINK Obama is (as he's been doing since he was a college student) bringing people together who do NOT agree and, therefore do not dialogue. I'm a gay man too.
Obama the first half-caste biracial mixed-race president not black

God created marriage- between man and woman...
Not man and man.

You made an error when you said:
"To me, marriage means...."
Its not what you think, or what you believe- or your opinion- if you believe in the Jesus Christ of the Bible- then it says
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." (Gen. 2:22-24)
If you believe in anything else- you serve an idol/false God- which is the same as serving satan.
